I assume this is a joke, but there’s really no good reason that Nathan should be compelled to speak to Nathan’s specific gender identity. Nathan’s gender identity also has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.

My apologies for hijacking the thread and to Nathan if I offended her. The last thing I would ever intend to do would be to micro-aggress someone.

Yes it was a joke. But Nathan’s gender was brought up when she told her story of how she “met” SA.

Good point about me coming across as male with the name Nathan, but "I'm a 32 year old guy," was not my first post. . :)

Ok not first post. The thread tilted “Hi, I’m Nathan!”....starts “I am a 32 year old guy going go Vegas for the first time this year!”.....

But no worries, I’m a 6’8 woman who is a former college basketball star, I’ve just been keeping it a secret until now.

I remember the "Hi I'm Nathan! A 32 year old guy going to Vegas for the first time this year!" Thread. It was a good natured was a parody on a scammer named Aimee 21 who claimed she was a 21 year old female going to Vegas for the first time. She had a "I'm such an innocent, damsel in distress, lil ole me," vibe, and asked male posters to help her out. Some people welcomed her with open arms, and some were like "I have a feeling she is a scammer, and is planning to take us for a huge scam. She has red flags all over her! I welcomed her with open arms myself and even continuously stood up for her. She got like 22 pages.

The Moderators at first said they investigated her but so far so good. A short while later, she went from being nice and sweet to being really personal and downright nosy, asking questions that were none of her business such as," Where do you live, what hotels do you stay at and what Casinos do you play in? Lots more WOV posters were seeing glaring red flags and straight up asked stuff like, "Aimee seems to be getting more con artist like. She really shouldn't be asking us those personal questions. " the moderators said they did more investigation and she was found to be a version of a 419 scammer and was permanently banned! O.O :O I acknowledged that I had egg on my face for believing her.

I then did my parody thread on the infamous Aimee 21 thread ...m

Regardless of what specific information anyone did or didn't have about any other identities for the ludicrous "WoN" whack-job, he arrived from Day #1 with a great big flashing neon "Attention, wrong number here - Something is Very Seriously Wrong with Me" sign pasted on his virtual forehead which would be painfully overwhelmingly obvious pretty quickly to most folks with at least an ordinary adult's capacity for judgment, and probably even to many reasonably functional children. It was clear within a few sentences to the folks I'm most acquainted with around here when he blazed into some of the few thread topics that I follow closely. If any significant number of folks truly sincerely didn't have a hint of a clue that some kind of profoundly haywire flake was behind that keyboard, after about three years of putting on his extremely noisy and transparently screwy el-fako show, that is just amazing. Absolutely astounding. And that's not the kind of problem that's susceptible to being fixed through tinkering with any kind of formal rules and procedures.

But nevermind; I am Prince Moohoohollah of Abudja, and I would like to request your inconspicuous assistance protecting a large monetary sum...

Do you also blame rape victims, saying that they should have known better?

For people that joined WOV more recently than you, they did not have exposure to the same set of posts that you saw.

Also, getting ripped off or being scammed is not an IQ test. Throughout the history of humanity, intelligent people have been ripped off, cheated and fooled. However, if someone gets ripped off many times in the same way, then I would agree that they are too trusting or foolish.

What almost no one knows about Bernie Madoff and his sons is they never solicited anyone to participate in their schemes. My friend and he were members of two Country Clubs, one on Long Island, one in West Palm. Their sons played Little League together, as well as the son of the owner of The Mets.
He told me, long after the fact, that he had to practically beg Bernie to take his money and only after determining his net value was forty million did he allow him to invest four million. It did so well, until it didn't, that he wanted to double his investment but wasn't allowed. When it collapsed, his account was worth almost thirty million. When we last spoke about it, he was optimistic he would get about 2.3 million back of his four million investment. He had thought he had Generational wealth that would set up his grandchildren and their heirs for all time. He passed away in 2015, pretty bitter, in my opinion.

If there was a scammer HoF, Madoff would be in it, if that’s true.

People begging the scammer to take their money.

I imagine that Madoff, “Only,” wanted four million for a few possible reasons:

1. He genuinely liked the guy and knew he’d probably screw him, maybe didn’t want to screw him at all, but at a certain point NOT letting him invest would look strange.

2. He figured it was a good slice for him, but too small of a slice from the other guy for the other guy to really care about. Obviously, the Ponzi scheme fails when too many people want their money all at once.

3. Madoff at least understood investment, so if he tried to get anyone to invest too big a slice of their total worth with him, that would look suspicious. I would think any good investment manager would tell you to diversify, including diversifying your investment money with other investment managers.

More than a 700% RoI, huh? Yikes. Anyone who doesn’t smell trout there has a broken olfactory sense.

In Ed Thorp's latest book he said that he had suspicions about Madoff 10 years before he was caught, and reported it to the Sec but the Sec never acted on it.

In my neighborhood, everyone not invested with him claims they were suspicious years ago. I think the real story is yet to come out.
I knew the name because the family was pretty generous to the community and a lot of my friends knew his sons from playing ball together but I didn't really know anything about them or his funds until it exploded.

The long term set-ups are particularly difficult. If someone is willing to reinforce their relationship, faithfully concluding deals over a year or more before going for the big shearing; they're going to be trusted a lot more than a simple short term swindle.

The internet can be helpful though if you can collect bits of information.

You can google hundreds of links on tips to figuring out who someone is. (many say similar things, but some have some unique methods)

Depending on how much work you want to do and time spent doing it, a bunch of random info can be useful.
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

Yeah, Internet is the big freedom, right?

I agree it’s more upside than downside, don’t get me wrong. It certainly makes a ton of stuff convenient, doesn’t it?

But, while we’re on the subject, let’s get in our mental time machine and imagine a time when the only recording devices were a paper and a pen. Think about it.

People don’t like my natural compulsion to measure my words. I understand that in the public sense, but it’s become my natural way of writing stuff at this point.

Before technology, if you want to ask me what I think of something, I think you would get a straight answer that is not measured at all. With technology, have to watch what you put in writing. Are you being recorded? Three-Way call and you don’t know it? Does someone have a video camera nearby? Small? Hidden?

I trust almost nobody and, if nothing else, I’m less inclined to trust anybody after the last few days.

Technology and the Internet.

You pretty much have to REALLY trust someone just to be able to assume you’re not being recorded. Maybe I’ll just always assume I am.

Someone asks you a question. Do they really want to know? Did someone ask someone to ask you even though you don’t know the two people are close just to see what you’d say?

Wherever you go and whoever you deal with, in gambling or out of gambling, just assume the worst about them and let them break that assumption down from there.

If anyone tells you something about someone privately, ONLY believe it if what they say is negative. If they say something positive about someone privately, assume they are lying.

Maybe don’t talk to people privately at all, that’s safe.

That’s my new advice, enjoy it. Life sucks. You die. Enjoy Arby’s.

These are general observations.

If you have anything on anyone else or anything about anyone that you don’t want to say publicly, the answer is, “No, I don’t want to know. Thank you.”

Let’s end this post on a positive:

If you want to talk to me and develop a friendship with just me and not say anything to me about other people, cool, let’s do that. I basically like everyone.

Should I PM you my Twitter handle? It's not NihilistArbys...I just REALLY enjoy that one.

But, not Arby's.

Yuck.

Wow, that is a flashback. I haven't seen or heard of Rax Roast Beef since I lived in Ohio in the early 1980's.

Using gamerfreak's post only because it's one I remembered and was easy to find. This post is intended for all who have been saying things along these lines. Now, if only I knew what to say and how to say it...

I take serious umbrage to the maligning of my integrity that exists in these posts.

If you've got questions, ask me. If you know things and believe I should be challenged about it, challenge me. Most of you, especially the many who I participate with on other forums, should know by now I both enjoy and highly respect that. And if I come out the end smelling like last week's garbage, so be it. I can accept truth. I can accept being wrong.

I do not understand how I attacked the credibility of you or anyone else. I’m sorry if you took it that way, that certainly wasn't my intention.

I never accused anyone of any specific wrongdoing except WON, and never called on anyone to resign. I was asking questions to clear up some things that made no sense given the facts I knew about the sitation.

This seems to have blown over so I really don't want to kick up any more dust.

I think it should be kicked up as much as possible. This thread costs Mission is "job" so it should stay relevant.

Last one I saw was a few years ago near Altoona. They had a huge growth spurt in the late 80’s in Central PA but died quickly. Many are now privately owned diners.

Last time I had Arbys, French dips were 2/$5. Last week they were $4.99 each. Apple turnovers are still $1 each, a tremendous bargain.

A forum member alerted me to this thread. I haven't posted in a while, but I thought it was appropriate to do so here.

JeffWarren75/WoN welched on a $49 loan from me. I was told that he needed $49 to be sent to his PayPal because he couldn't access the account. I was told that I would be paid back $75 on PayPal within five days. That didn't happen because he "didn't have access to a computer." This was three months ago.

I don't recommend anyone do business with this guy. He has close to zero integrity in my opinion. I have done business with him in the past, and some of it was successful, but I'm convinced he lets you "win a few" before beginning the super-scam. I'm almost happy to get off with only a $49 loss.

If anyone wants further details feel free to PM.

It's not unusual for these types of people to be opurtunistic scammers.

He likely completes many of deals he makes, but then run with money whenever he sees a way out.

Hey teddys long time no see. Hope everything is well.

Sorry to hear you were taken too. It is amazing how he would take people for $50. 49 is a weird number, maybe he knows u see 50 is less of a crime? I had $50 stolen from someone who stole my debit card number. The bank told me often the scammers keep it under 50 so it is only a misdemeanor.

Hopefully that person also alerted you to the Spring Fling 2018 thread? :-)

yeah, that does seem to be Jeff's MO. My interactions with him were mostly about how to optimize my move to PA from a freeplay/offer perspective. Some of what he said worked, some didn't. We didn't exchange money, just ideas. His ideas made me money. Then he called one day and asked if I'd share his costs to attend a drawing. That's where the wheels came off. It wasn't a must play to win drawing, or even one where it was possible to earn more entries. Everyone who walked through the gate received one and only one entry. I told him I couldn't go, so I didn't have a way to get cash to him. I went. I sat. I watched other people play. I wondered how stupid this guy thought I was. I didn't win a car.

One thing I am curious about...the site in question here claims that he has “stolen millions”. Yet the last 10 pages of this thread are dedicated to two claims, totaling $99 ($49 PayPal and a $50 gift card). So either this thread is about to get very long, with an additional 20,000+ victims at $50 each, or some of these claims are exaggerations at a bare minimum. Does casinokiller have an explanation as to where the “millions” claim comes from?

I’m not defending him if he has wronged people, I’m just trying to put the pieces together because they don’t even come close to the claims being made on that site.

Oh my God, you too? WuON asked me to put more money in escrow than the gift card was worth to prove he had receipts that proved that I had went shopping myself with the Macy's gift card(I never went shopping with it, as it was declined as soon as I tried to use it) when I called out him out under his alias for giving me a no good gift card. I thought, "This seems like a huge scam." I answered him something like, "I am not paying in escrow more than the card is worth for receipts. I could have just outright bought the card myself!" He didn't answer me back even before he was banned. I am grateful I didn't put the money in escrow. He was completely out of line for scamming you out of your money. You have my sympathy. :(

I think that was darkoz that said his daughter was scammed out of $4k. Or at least someone on this forum's daughter (bruh, how do you grammar this properly?).

AyeCarumba got hosed for $100.

That porsche guy for like $20-25k.

2 people I know as acquaintances, for $10-20k each.

I've heard of 2 others who got scammed out of $80-100k each.

Probably more that I can't think of. Just wake up, too damn early in the morning here. =\
