Indeed, why not. Where would we draw the line? interpreting friendly chats between, say a slightly hostile suspended member and an extremely hostile ex-member and assigning guilt by association? Pah. Life's too short.Quote:Venting and complaining should be fine.

Avoiding suspension on this forum is not terribly difficult.
If a suspension occurs, take a break for a few days and then return to continue participating.
A couple of unsolicited suggestions...
Try to only participate in threads with content you are interested in, appreciate, or enjoy.
Try to only quote other member's posts with content you are interested in, appreciate, or enjoy.
Focus responses on the content of a member's post and not the member personally.
I certainly hope you change your mind and continue participating here at WOV.
Quote: BoSoxA little off subject here but I think all the Administrators should discuss privately concerning any suspended member/member's sometimes lambasting the Wizard as well as different administrators on other gaming sites while in suspension. I know free speech and all but there is something about this practice that I find disturbing. When the individual returns from suspension and acts like everything are back to normal is hypocrisy at its finest. Realize it or not that is a huge flaw in the rules here whereby a member may get a small minor suspension on this site, only to have an excuse to play real hardball on another site totally protected.
People decide how they portray themselves online.
My purview is what happens here.
This is a classy place; people are expected to act classy here.
I may not like it if someone goes across the street and kvetches about how my haircut makes me look foolish (... or whatever), but it would be unfair to throw them out for cussing and spitting on the floor before they spit on the floor or cuss.
Quote: rxwineThen I could shorten responses to, "You're an idiot." when it's obvious that one is wasting their breath with explanations. Very logical.
Isn't there an emoji for that?

You mean like saying someone who has no chance of being a mod, that they wont be a mod?
I felt like that was 100% attacking the speech and not the author.
I know I wouldn't make a good Chippendale dancer, so I would never apply. Ya know?
I didnt apply to be a mod here and would have 0 offense to someone telling me I couldnt be. I probably have one of the highest suspension to post ratios here.
I guess we all see things a little different.

This is funny! You win the internet tonight!
As a general statement, if you want to criticize me here within WOV, go ahead and do so. As long as the tone and language don't become extreme, I'll try to listen to what you have to say.

At least he recognized you degraded his response and not him. At least we're getting somewhere!
This is what I agreed with that was perfect and spot-on. Now stop with all the comments that degrade somebody!

Who is degrading anybody????
It seems that the mods are doing a lot of interpreting that is just not correct. It also seems that the mods somehow believe a number of individuals on this forum cannot stand up for themselves and just speak up. Personal dignity as well as intellectual rebuttal is being squelched. Let the parties face-off and have at it as long as it is civil. At some point in time and conversation the mods CAN step in and end it appropriately.

Couple of questions for MDawg:-Quote: MDawgWho wins the kewpie doll for declaring (with or without a solemn oath) that he will never post at WOV again, and yet posts again? A competition in progress....
1) How can this not be considered an unprovoked attempt at trolling/hijack?
2) What penalty is appropriate in light of your most recent suspension for the same offence?

The poster that recently said he was done posting here and keeps posting?

I would surmise I’ve read 95+% of the posts in this thread.
OnceDear….. of course MDawg was goading unnamed forum members. But it was cleverly done, and should not even approach a suspendable moment. I can already sense the zoom meeting between OnceDear, Gordon, Dieter, and the Wiz discussing this important topic…. NOT!
- Frequently there is banter in the forum that is of a joking nature -sort of a good-natured joshing. Please, let's not interpret every humorous jibe as an insult.

This post offends me.
I see it as a personal insult.
I am back because Ive had various PMs asking me not to go!
I am highly offended by this insult!
Yes, I said I wasnt going to post again. I had 4 members reach out to me privately and say theyd hate to see me go over trivial nonsense as Ive been here since 2012. I decided to stay. Then I deal with this BS.
I can assure you what MDawg just said about me is more insulting than anything I have said. If this is allowed, I really am going away for good!

You PM'd and I forgot to respond so sorry.
But you can add me as a fifth member that was going to suggest you stay.
You really can't let them get to you.

I have received a PM from a MOD who I hope is handling this.
Thanks again.

mwalz9, I do not believe MDawg's post had anything to do with you, at all, but another person who is currently on the suspended list.

I just came back from a suspension Saturday. When I come back I just act like nothing happened, I don't care what other people did or did not get suspended for. Life is way too short to spend worrying about the little insignificant stuff.
You have moved from a D- to a C-. You could have been at a C+ however, you miserably fail when it comes to Martingale since that wasn't anything close to Martingaling.Quote: DieterMDawg is suspended for violating Rules 7 and 12.

Hey! Unfair! It took me 3 years to get up to an F !
Interesting to see the spread of opinions on this suspension of MDawg. I fully support Dieter, for his pretty lenient 5 day suspension. I was leaning towards 7 days with no Marty, for this minor issue.
This goes to show that there is something to the precedent that if one complains about personal insult, that has SOME bearing on whether a penalty is imposed or not.
I note that Mwalz has been on the receiving end of some pretty strict penalties for 'personal insult', so it's only fair that a similar perceived insult to him is dealt with to broadly the same benchmark.
When I reacted in thread, it was my intention to see if Mdawg or someone else would explain his 'little joke'. I was unsure who he was goading, but it definitely was goading someone.
At the end of the day, it's only suspension on a forum. Hardly a fate worth than death.
And only 2.5 years to issue your first suspension, or so it seems. You are still on makeup, it will take lots of extra credit to dig your way up to a passing grade.Quote: OnceDearHey! Unfair! It took me 3 years to get up to an F !

Half Kelly, not Martingale. The Big Six wheel that we usually use for sentencing needs a new flapper, so I was stuck with my shaved dice.

That's the best attitude, but some people take it WAY too personally.
The reality is this forum is like a kindergarten where the kids are filled with energy and occasionally cross the line; this results in them having to serve some "time out" in the corner.
Suspension is in service of educating, corralling, and punishing.

Some people spend half their lives worrying
about fairness. When did you ever run into
anything in life that was 'fair'. It's a concept
that doesn't exist in nature and one impossible to
reach for man. Why ever bother thinking about it.
My brother in law dropped dead from heatstroke
last week in FL at age 70. 45 years with the
same company he hated, all so he could have
a huge retirement income and live the life.
Mowing his lawn in Aug in FL he fell off the
tractor and died 4 hours later. 3 years after
he retired. How is that fair.

Why, he was independently wealthy. He started

didn't gamble anyway or smoke or drink. He
was a god fearing Xtion.
