MichaelBluejay don't hate me for saying this. I don't think it was your intentions but...
The way it sounded. Mikes website success was mainly because of you. And once you went on to other things, it failed.
Quote: BuzzardActually the new owners are just a front for MLSE. I am sure you wish that their continued sucess flows over to this site !
Dunno why, but this one hurt more than usual. Well played, Buzz ;)
I'm a little late, but let me also toss in my welcome to Zuga. I'm sure you'll find this place interesting, to say the least =) Since we're doing introductions, I'm pretty much just a guy. I worked in the regulatory aspect of tribal casinos for the last 6 years, and I came here to learn more. In doing so I met a lot of brilliant people and that's kept me here for 4 years now. My math skills are comparable to that of a troubled 10th grader, and I have little to no interest in gaming. But I care about WoV and the people therein, and based on feedback I guess I've been labeled as sort of the diplomat. I suppose, if asked, that's what I'd claim as my contribution to the site as an admin.
To you, Zuga, and also to answer the PM's I've received, I had no plans to give up either the green ink or the forum itself. My apologies if my brief phone post earlier led you to believe so. I've enjoyed helping out here, and my services remain available should you choose to use them. But if you find that having a non-gaming admin is detrimental to whatever path you chose, you've no fear of any lashing out from my quarter. I'm along for the ride regardless of where I sit or the color of my shirt =)
On the Wiz specifically, I can't find anything but joy about the deal. I'm sorry to hear the detraction present in some of these posts. To me, I saw a site that was a true bounty of information, all supplied free, with all the cost on him. It launched my career to new levels, it gave me a place to ponder wild ideas, it provided an environment to make friends. Problem at work? I had access to true genius, and solved that problem here. Problem at home? I went through my entire divorce in front of many here, and received everything I needed to make it through. And when I couldn't figure out the details to drill a hole through Earth so I could fish in the Indian Ocean from my home in NY? Well, we figured it out, didn't we? ;)
I of course feel a sense of value and ownership over the stuff I've personally produced, things that have taken hundreds of hours to document, manage, and provide in a hopefully pleasurable way. But after all that I've done, I still feel I was given more than I gave. And all that was given was done so thanks to Mike.
Dude took an idea and turned it into freedom. As a man who'd fall over for an offer of $350 for my own, all I feel is a respectful sort of jealousy. Gratz to the Wiz, and to the future we go.

Will you be at G2E ? I thought that was a condition of the purchase ?
If you are referring to Las Vegas then sadly no... And no it was not a condition. However I will be attending BAC ( Barcelona Affiliate Conference ) this October.
If you you or anyone else is attending I would be more than happy to meet you and have a pint or 5.

What is the timeframe for having the mobile WOV up and running…?
Now, here is what would make me really happy - how about a WOV App?
Not sure TBH, as we just started and JB will work on it. So I think it is for the best to ask him about the ETA.
An app is something we gave some thought but I do not see it happening at this stage. For now we are going with the responsive desgin.

Hell of an advantage play, Mike.
*doffs cap*
It's a nice chunk of change. Whatever is left after the dust settles must be used wisely because none of our tin cups are ever that far away.
Not that I gave it much thought but I assumed that the Wizard was a millionaire long before this windfall. If that is not the case, I'd like to welcome him to the club.
How many millionaires do we have on this forum? More than you'd think. Old money, new money, lottery, inheritance, hard work. It all counts. Use whatever definition of the word that you wish.
Quote: 1BBHow many millionaires do we have on this forum? More than you'd think.
More than you'd think is probably the correct answer, for households anyway.
Unfortunately, it doesn't put you where you want to be, which is remarkable considering the weight of the word in, say, the 60s.
Example: it's not enough for a younger person to retire on.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. Well put, odious. I hope everyone gives this some serious thought. I think millionaires are much more aware of it than most.

The word has changed so much over the years. IF you have assets including 401K's, homes, personal property and such worth more than a million, you are a millionaires by todays standards, yet you may not have $10K cash available if you need it. It may be better to have it than not, but most are not living the life many think they are.
RIP Casino Boy!

this is why you may start sounding like a little kid when you give your age once older. You might start saying "I'm 59 and a half" or "70 and a half" [g]

Is this glitch large enough to make the machine +EV? How much? How should I alter basic strategy?
Care to elaborate?

That game is dead. Sorry, can't say anything more.
No doubt.Quote: HowManyThat game is dead. Sorry, can't say anything more.
At least you are off the hook from feeling guilty from being a firm no on donating to the site. Considering he did some calculations for you on that supposed BJ play glitch, and you were already a millionaire.
I've referenced WoO hundreds of times over the years and have found it an incredible resource. It is the gold star for casino gaming information in regards to odds and the math behind those odds. Yet, it's written at a level that is useful for those with a variety of backgrounds, the AP and the casual gambler, the math geek and the math challenged. As far as WoV, it has been another useful resource and also a source of entertainment. And all of if at no cost to the user, free. Therefore, I tip my hat to the man behind the curtain and thank him for what he has provided and look forward to additional content going forward.
Welcome to the new owners. As you are aware (evidenced by spending over $2M), you purchased some great properties. I'm looking forward, albeit with a small amount of apprehension, to see how the sites evolve.
While privacy is always a concern, I bet (not literally) that I take more privacy risks every day than happened by transfer of ownership of WoO and WoV. Count me on the side who is sticking around.
WoV and WoO are great sites and I look forward to visiting them.
So, best wishes to Mike AND to the new owner.

Nevertheless, if anybody who made a donation wishes to have it back, the request will be honored.
a) I'm not at all surprised the Wiz made this offer.
b) Thanks, but not necessary for me. I've gotten a lot of gambling AND entertainment value from the sites.
I can only hope. This way, the site will be flooded with spam and the poster will leave and the free ride information will stop.Quote: 100xOddsnow will the owner of VPFree do the same?

The only thing that is even more surprising than that is that you have not been nuked yet. I will truly never understand that one. You must have something on someone with power around here. It's the only possible way.
Occasionally, you are funny, but mostly, you are an asshole. And probably a 27 year old virgin living in his parents' basement.
LOL. Ahahahaha. You can always hang out with MrV.

Thanks for the reply Zuga and look forward to your perspective on some of our of non-gambling topics. Welcome to the discussion. I thought that maybe the servers were based in Gibraltor where many gambling sites are based.
Let me ask... Will you be using any of that 2.35M to get a 400%, $4000 bonus at Lucky Red Casino?
(Seriously though, thank you for everything you have done for this community and will continue to do. Your knowledge has always been +EV for the world.)

Also you can open yourself up to investment opportunities.
My advice is to take a look into this untapped market:
Big investment!
As you can see this is a new and fresh idea and also has ensconced itself onto Amazon for easy distribution.
Just throwing some ideas out there since we have so many Daddy Warbucks strutting around this thread.
In all seriousness Bitcoins have been hovering around 400 for the last day or so and I don't see them stagnant for long.
Ava Carson is rumored to have posed as Juicey Jenny while doing a pre-offer integrity check on Mike. You see what is going on with the NFL protecting it's brand ? Well, ZUGA could have easily started his own website for a lot less money. A huge part of the purchase was MIKE's good name. Notice that Juicey Jenny faded from the scene once negotiations started in earnest. If you can thing of another reason why a beautiful woman would have her picture deliberately blurred to hide her features, I would sure like to hear it.Quote: 1BBI give up. Who is Ava Carson?
This is not funny, and it's kind of irresponsible, don't you think?

I know the place sucks, but you can find a few opportunities to build chip mountains.

But it is still another sellout to snakeoil salesmen. Gambling information and forum services as long as it doesn't hurt the bottom line or is in conflict with the interests of affiliated online gambling businesses.
The Wizard going from being the pillar of the international gamblers community to working for a company called "LatestCasinoBonuses", trying to lure people to shady online casinos. That has got to sting, even with 2.35 Million in the bank.
After the unholy downfall of Casinomeister, this place is now corrupted as well. So, can we (as forum members) move? Collectively find another place until it is inevitably sold out as well? Maybe ask the folks at VegasMessageBoards to create a subforum for the mathematically inclined and the socially incompetent. Or maybe an entirely new place? I am ready, just let me know the URL.
Quote: CanyoneroFirst off, let me say this: I would have done the same thing for 2.35 Mil. Unless I could have made a healthy sum with WoO and kept this forum free and independent. Who knows.

Ever hear of Michael Larson? He was the guy that won over $100,000 on a single episode of the old Press Your Luck TV show when he noticed that the lights flashed in a small number of patterns. He took the last $30,000 or so of the money and converted it to one-dollar bills in an attempt to win a similar contest. Part of the way through the count, he and his wife went out for the evening, pretty much leaving the dollar bills out in the open. When they came back, somebody had broken in and stolen the money. AFAIK, they never found the thieves.
Here's hoping the forum stays on the same track it has been on. It has been a goldmine of information, opinion and advice to me over the years. I've lauded the Wizard sites to what has to be hundreds of people, and I wish Mike the best in going forward.
On the flip side, welcome to Zuga and the new owners of the websites! If WoO and WoV continue to be what we've all come to expect, then it was money well invested.
