So, I've never been a VP fan. Then I run across this forum. And I'm going, what on earth is Quick Quads? And somebody says, don't play that unless you get the strategy; you're throwing your money away (thank you; was a couple of months ago). So I get the strategy. And now I'm just fascinated. Who came up with this game? Somebody on this board? Amazing variation that changes the whole game into a huge skill-check and addictive challenge. Wow. Nice work, anonymous-to-me game creator.

Somebody has to take credit, or know who designed this.

I had a hand tonight, playing 600 credits on hundred-play TDB+QQ. Dealt 4 deuces. 20 hands w/K, 80 hands w/o. 78000 credits. What a rush. But the fun is holding low trips + QQ kicker; had 4's with an ace. Got 17 QQ and 5 4WAK for whatever. And the guy just keeps shouting "Quick Quads!" Dang, that game is something.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

If you love the sound of "quick quads" you should play "Dream Card" and then you'll fall in love with "Dream Card Winner"

Eh I like QQ better. Dream card is just like regular VP except you pay extra for the best possible card. QQ is definitely unique and requires more thought than usual.

As for who invented the game, not sure babs. I'd assume someone at action gaming. But QQ didn't take off as much as I'd hope because most VP players don't understand it, or care to understand it. I've seen multiple people play QQ with normal VP strategy because they didnt realize what they were playing.

TDB isn't a game to play in a casino though, it's never 99%+ since 9/7 TDB doesn't exist as an available option on the game.

I really need to get back to Ellis Island, so I can play this again for nickels.

Edit: And I like the QQ audio better than Dream Card too. But I forgot there was a voice in that game too...lol Was nice to hear when it gave me a dealt 4th deuce at Manadalay last year...lol

I don't exactly know what quick quads is... Care to post a paytable / returns or link ? Is it on WoO ? Is it commonplace to be at pretty much all casinos ?

I believe it was Sigma that had a game called Add'Em Up poker in the 1990's. It was the same concept but only single hand.

Not really. Especially at newer casinos. Super times pay/ultimate X is nearly at every casino to compare.

Most people I've seen play QQ get upset they are losing a ton of money, and they always wonder, "why does the machine keep saying QUICK QUADS!". I explained this to an old lady once and she was surprised that's how the game works. When it comes to the gambling public I quickly change my mind about how these casinos must be struggling from all the AP'ing going on when people will gladly pay extra money to lose.

I created and put out a video poker game years ago and it failed miserably. The reason I believe it failed was because the strategy was very none conventional and players played it with standard video poker strategies and they lost their butts. My game played at about 90% return with conventional strategy.

I've explained it to others too who had no clue. The description on the marquee of the machine explains nothing. You would need to read the rule screen, go to the WOO site, etc. I think this is a big reason why it's only had a niche popularity.

Did you write about this vp game before DRich? Remind me how it worked. Was it obvious without the rule screen? No ploppie reads the rule screen. haha

I don't know if I have ever mentioned the game on this website.

In the case of my game it wasn't a rules issue, just a strategy that typical video poker players didn't comprehend or find intuitive.

The Wizard did my initial math for me in 2002 and he has a page for it.
https://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/tables/ace-invaders/

You can still play it at VideoPoker.com: Ace Invaders or at the L.E.D. website Ace Invaders

I played ace invaders last week at my local casino and I have seen other people playing it, though I think they were clueless as to how. Fun game, I don't play it too much though because the machine has some games at a return of 99% on it.

Yep, can be found on MultiStrike Ultra Deluxe games in St. Louis! But it's one of the the few games that's not available for ~99% at the dollar level at River City on that unit. :( It's only 8/5 there, ~98.3%.

Decided to play some of your game at http://www.ledgaming.com/ site.

Definitely a fun game! But looking at the Wiz's strategy for it, yeah, people are definitely going to play it wrong. :( And your game doesn't have as crazy of a variance as Ultimate X to help "cover up" the error rate. :(

Does the person that invented "Cash King Checkers" post here too? haha I really liked that game, but that didn't last nearly as long as your game has.

I believe Larry DeMar created the Cash King Checkers. He is the owner of L.E.D. Gaming. That may have even been hist first game put out by IGT. For those not familiar with Larry, he is a famous designer of Pinball and Video arcade games. I know he and Eugene Jarvis, inventor of Super Times Poker, created the game Defender.

ahhhhhhh crap I am addicted to QQ now. Played it for the first time over the weekend and on the first few hands I hit 77761, the machine yelled at me quick quads and now I like it. About 10 min later I got dealt 99936 and again it yelled at me. I was glad it did because I may not have realized and not held all 5 cards.

I was trying to figure out the strategy by looking at WoO but I am not sure what to do if I am dealt something like 888 2 5. Does it matter which I hold. When I was playing I would generally just hold the lower of the numbers. I understand that if I am dealt 66634 that I would not want to hold the 3 since there are only 3 more threes but there are 4 more 2s. Just not sure about the first scenario.

With 888 25, either 8882 or 8885 are equivalent. When I hit my quick quad on my Feb. Vegas trip, my g/f was next to me, and I asked her which kicker she wanted me to hold since it didn't matter. She made a good choice...lol

Yes, the idea to have the machine scream 'Quick Quads' was marketing gold. It not only is appealing to the player, but is noticed by those nearby, thus drawing attention to the game. Especially on 100 play machines, when you get a correct starting combination like 88825, I think the expected number of qq is 8.5, and the machine keeps shouting 'quick quads', 'quick quads', etc, etc.

I'm not 100% familiar with the strategy to play in the casino, but am working on it with on videopoker.com. I don't think in your scenario of 88825, it makes any diffence which kicker you keep.

I think my head would explode.

I have a question but don't want to start a new thread for it. Lets pretend all VP games are the same payback %.

Lately I feel bla about playing JOB. I just don't like how you only get 125 for a 4oak. JOB is a slow grind when you are making money unless you get a royal.

I love DDB because of the 4oak that pays 250, the AWAK, and 234WAK. However since 2 pair pays 1:1 it is a quick death if you can't get a royal or 4oak.

Is there a game in the middle? It seems like QQ might suffice for me right now since 4oak on JOB pays 235 (I think) but you are paying that extra credit for it. I guess I am looking for a game that pays the 2:1 on 2 pair but has the better paying quads but maybe not the high paying A/2/3/4. Does this exist?

Sure, you want good ol' fashioned Bonus Poker, four 5-K still only pays 125 on Max Bet, though, but you get better payouts for A/2/3/4 and eat it on the FH's and the Flushes, rather than Two Pair.

You might like super times pay.You have to bet one extra coin but you can get a big hit if you get a fh or 4ok with a multiplier.I like to play this in triple or 5 play.
