Also to note we lost our first game because of stale lines. We would have pushed on the lions game at +13 but I got it at +12.5 Luckily it was only 1 unit. So we are still at +4 units for the year due to stale lines.
Also this week was the first week that stale lines had made us lose money. Earlier in the year we had 2 games that we had an extra half point that allowed us to push instead of lose. This week was the opposite. We had a line with a half point less and we ended up losing instead of pushing. Luckily it was a game with only 1 unit so overall we are 0-1-2 instead of 0-2-1 for a total of +4 units.

I asked this very question at the beginning of the year. I thought about only using the top half of the pickers or just quitting. My one thinking is, I am at the bottom of the pack right now but that was with me trying. If I try to suck it is conceivable that i could actually be better. I think at this point since we are up so much I am just going to roll with it and if we have a -400 week I will end it a week or 2 early.

But, a thousand bucks?
Seems to me you could do what you originally intended, do what you wanted for the playoff game and use the leftover winnings to start the ball rolling on next year’s Picks game with the same consensus thing.
A bird in the hand, and all that.
All of these good things without touching a single dollar you had to start with. (Not house money, any money is your money, but you get the idea)

Problem with gambling, right? This is why casinos are so large and in so many places. How many times have we hit 4awk in first 10 min of play and still walked out a loser. Maybe not you, but many of us on here. If I hit it once why not hit it again.
Same with this game. Had a huge week last week, why cant we have another huge one?
Got a lot of thinking to do this week about it. We were upto 1k earlier and I didnt want to stop. Partly because there was so much time left in the season. At this point we are only a few weeks left so if I quit it wont be a huge deal. I thought about sitting out the last week anyways as it is garbage time. I plan on looking at the last 3 years of this game to see how people have picked. If my memory is correct there are some huge lines in the last week with many starters sitting.

Yeah my most memorable was not quite as large but before we had local gambling we would drive to mountaineer which is about an hour. We walk in sit down at BJ. First hand I have 10 on bet and 10 on in between side bet. First hand I get trips for 300 and wife got 1 card spread. We end up with about 500 on first hand. We are like wtf do we do now. If we ended the night plus 500 we would be happy so shouldn't we leave? Nope we didn't and gave that back plus the 300 that we brought. It was a long hour ride home at 3am.

Bad part is I got it at 5.5 because the line kept moving. I did $50 Instead of 150, then I said f it and did the entire 150. Hopefully the game keeps going

I have been out all day. Only barely got to see scores. I like the final score though. We did have dolphins fairly large I think it was 80. I have no idea what the other bets are.

The playoff freeroll is going to be open to everyone that participated in the regular season game. The question, there are people that stopped picking months ago and also people that have been using default picks most of the year. Do I allow those people to get a full share? I could weight it so that if you only contributed 4 out of 16 weeks then you only get 25% of the prize money that you might win.

Yeah I saw all those. Stale lines have not been a factor at all. I was wondering the same about the saints and the game is looking like they were accurate. Looking like a rough start for all picks.

You are welcome. I am glad that this turned out so well. I did not expect it. I am going to pour over some data that I have put together for the last 3 years and post some results and info about next years game that will get sponsored with this money as well.
I am going to start a thread tonight towards the end of the game tonight about the playoff game.
We had an amazing year... at least in my opinion. We ended at over $1300 profit. I am going to distribute it a few ways. 1. I am putting $600 into the playoffs picks game, as promised I am going to put some into the WOV spring fling dinner for people who were in this game. If you are attending you MUST let me know prior and I will pay for your dinner upto $20. If there are not many takers then I have no problem upping that amount. The remaining money I am going to hold onto to fund next years game. That should leave $500 in the bank for next year.
Interesting thing to note. The stale lines only played a role in 4 games. In 2 we had the wrong side and in 2 we had the good side. However they were all bets that were small and we were +1 in units in these games.
I am going to post some data over the next few days if only because I am weird and I like to see these things.
