There is always some transient watching close by for entertainment sake, I stop playing and shoot them a dirty look. Some get the hint, but many don't and continue to stand right behind me as if I my spins are solely happening for their amusement.

I get that you don't want someone asking you for money or standing an inch behind you.

Any objections to people keeping a respectful distance with their amusement and not asking for handouts?
May the cards fall in your favor.

The moochers at the casino are really annoying, especially the ones who say they made you a winner. Huh? Anyways, I've unfortunately given in sometimes, but I'm stopping from here on out.

I remember a guy being kicked out of a Casino for giving gamblers slotting tips and then begging them for a cut of their winnings because he helped them.

If someone is resorting to panhandling they will most certainly get more value out of $1 than I will. Simply treating them like they are a person is more than most of us give them.

You're just enabling them by giving them $1. In other words, you are doing harm to them by encouraging them to beg for money than get a real job and contribute something to the economy. You would be much better off to give that $1 to a charity for the homeless. We had this discussion before and even FrG agreed with this position.

...He replies "Brooklyn, the fare is $18.50, can you help me?" I say "Here's 50 cents, if it helps your cause then it is all yours." He takes it begrudgingly and shuffles off to his next victim.

Having lived in Vegas for 15 years now, I've heard the "I'm stranded here and just need bus/gas money to get home" story more times than I have fingers and toes. In fact, I've seen the same faces pulling it multiple times over long periods of time.

Okay, that is their angle, I get it. However, what really bothers me is that if you give them a buck or two they don't say thank you but see a weak mark and really press into you for more. They will follow you around and badger you rather then annoy somebody else who didn't give a dime.

If someone needs a buck because they are hungry, offer to go with them and pay for their food. You'll find out very quickly that they aren't very hungry anymore, and don't want to waste their time going for a walk with you.

Or offer to go to the bus ticket office with them and buy their ticket. Same difference.

Always keep your guard up around beggars in casinos. A) They are bottom feeders and will do ANYTHING to get money. B) They're pathological liars and will feed you stories that are complete BS.

Reminds me of the first time I ever went to Vegas. I was at the 4 Queens on Fremont. A guy comes up and asks me if I'd like to buy his gold ring. I ask him how much, he says "Thirty Five dollars".

Right there, I knew it had to be at best, gold plated, at worst, just junk. Either way, the ring looked nice, so I got it from him. A week later, I went into a pawn shop and asked, yep, it was fake.

Still looks nice, though. Finger never did turn green.

I ever hit a big jackpot for serious cash, I may consider buying a real gold ring.

Get hit up at the 7-11 on Stewart downtown all the time. Finally, caved to what appeared to be a desparate tourist wanting 20.00. He gave his phone number and even called mine to try and demonstrate some legitimacy. He insisted it was a loan that he intended to pay back. I took some collateral. Big ass class ring 10k, pretty decent dive watch, and a white gold 14k bracelet. Still waiting to hear from him as it has been a couple weeks now. Tried calling and phone disconnected. Gonna scrap the shit soon.
I like to give the truly homeless non beggars a 10 or 20 every so often. Eff the beggars and con artists. This guy was telling me how he would give me all 3 items if I lent him the 20. I'm not sure why he came off it when I produced the 20. He looked shocked when I demanded all 3 after producing the 20. He came off them though.
