Do you spend enough time in Vegas to be a Nevada resident and avoid California income taxes?

For us (ex) New Yorkers, I have to spend 183 days out of state to (legally) avoid NYS income taxes. I made it to around 190 last year, likely 200 this year!

Fantastic, I didn't realize that you were spending that much time in Florida.

Not entirely because I still have CA businesses. But - yes I made the switch a few years ago.

I’m here on a short trip. Summary results so far :

-Win $120K
-Win $100K
-Win $90K
-Lose $130K
-Lose $250K

When I lost I just kept losing. Had this memorable hand where I had 10 grand each on big and small tiger 6 with $120K on Bank itself I started with total 1, Player started with total 0 (two monkeys), I got the 5 for big tiger but Player drew a freakin’ 7. So instead of winning $620K I lost $140K.

Two sessions.

First one I got down -350K before you knew it. I left for a bit, came back, rallied and actually got ahead, but not more than +50K. Then was down about -110K, ended up winning just under +$20K.

Second session much better, never down, and walked with +$160K

+$65K

Largest bet was $35K where I also bet 5000 on tie and hit the tie. Dealer remarked - “No one bets 5000 on tie.”

Second largest bet $25K, which I lost.

Any selectivity in those game choices, or just a "have fun - smack buttons"?

(At one of my usual spots, I managed to find a 5 for 2 VBJ that often exceeds par on redemptions.)
May the cards fall in your favor.

If I were playing the slots I would do research and figure that out, but she just plays for fun. I have presented some input as to which machines I am aware have a lower hold, but not to the point of AP slot play.

She doesn't like video poker or blackjack.

There was one time I just wanted to get the free play over with and played it myself on a Buffalo machine, cashed out 2X (cash $4000.) the free play. I put it all into a Buffalo machine and just kept pushing buttons at 20 - 30 a spin.

One time she outdid me, and hit a jackpot for a few thousand off just a small amount of free play, but otherwise she doesn't cash out 2X much if at all. I had a recent promo where I received 12000 in free play on slots which is substantial, given that it was a promo earned through table play where I was winning at the tables anyway, and she did okay with that on some machines, but in the end cleared barely 50%.

My joy is in watching her push dem buttons she looks so cute concentrating on the screen, and taking an occasional pic surreptitiously. But if I were to show her the pics she'd probably get upset as she thinks I don't take the best pictures.

Also earned a little slots free play. Not a lot it was locked into a certain offer with a low ceiling.

1/2,million from last two posts. Not bad! Friend I play Pai Gow with called to report 2 Royals in one seating. He had $2 on first one, and $5 on second one. He made ….. around $600 after all was said and done! An MDawg tip….

Another low roller question here…. Since you use a credit line, meaning they have your bank info, do they ACH the winnings to your bank or give you an actual paper check?

It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten a bank wire (casinos will not ACH they wire, and this applies to incoming front money deposits too) but when I have, two different casinos, they just said “will be done” gave me no paperwork nothing. That always made me a little nervous and one time when no wire came for a week I called in and then the wire came a day later.

When I get a paper check which is the way I do it always these days, at least I have physical proof of what is owed me. Depending on which bank I deposit into true sometimes there is a hold placed on the funds for up to five business days if the check is six figures or even seven but at least I know I’m getting my money.

All these card counters are always trying to get cash at the cage for their $10K+ of chips then they are met on their way out by security and told that they are trespassed and they can't come back again. If they took a check instead of cash, would the casino put a stop payment on the check? I realize these card counters need their cash right away for their next casino stop. They could use a casino check at the next casino couldn't they? On another note, they may only get a couple thousand on a check because they bought in for $8K on their initial losing streak so they'll want that $8K back in cash anyway. There's no CTR for taking $8K buy-in cash back and a check for a few thousand more of winnings is there? Casinos don't need your banking or life history to cut you or cash you a casino check like they do with front money, do they?

Once check is issued casino would not stop it. If they were not going honor the chips they would refuse to cash them out period.

Checks only for verified winnings; buy in or front money will be returned in same form as it was brought in. I don’t know what the minimum needed to get a check is since I am a fully verified player anyway playing with a credit line.

Yes I’ve heard and read about players signing over a check from one casino to another I’ve never done that.

CTR only for cash in or out > $10K over 24 hour period.

That is not a smart thing for a counter to do, try to cash out for more than $10K. You don't want any grief at the cage and the less talking you do to those people the better, so anything where they are asking you questions, asking for ID, calling supervisors etc. is an opportunity for things to go bad and you are better off keeping it small and coming back as many times as you need to to cash out the rest.

The casino is unlikely to make the check payable to "CASH". If your goal is to keep your name out of their records, telling them your name so they can cut you a check is counterproductive.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Card counters may be averse to giving a name at the cage if they haven't already been carded, right. If the casino already knows their name, having a check made out in their name may be OK, but not much more information than that except for a Player's Card number. Casinos may require a photo ID and a SS# or have that info in the Player's Card system already to cash a check.
