What I have seen multiple times is the board lacks a regular DE. Then one from Central N.J. magically appears.
Or that shortly before or after a post is deleted a DE will post upon the forum. It is just way to big a coincidence that has happened many, many times for the DE's not to be involved in the deleting of posts in some manner.
I also know of someone posting an identical question on T/A both on the A.C. forum and Vegas forum. The A.C. posting was deleted yet the L.V. posting stayed up.
Quote: jerrysnjIf you have proof anyone is posting under multiple names report them to TA. It's not allowed. I haven't noticed anyone doing that for awhile now. Writing style usually gives it away. I don't know why or will not defend them closing some of the posts even some of mine that seemed travel related. They are definately inconsistant in what they allow or close. For some time any mention of gambling was an automatic closure, thankfully that is not as strict.
If the moderators are located in Sri Lanka, all they react to is multiple reports from the DE aliases-they have no clue as to content.
It's probably just a coincidence that all of hundreds of posts & threads re casino closings, bankruptcies are deleted & the DE post above is not.
My bad!
Quote: dave12038457I have never noticed DE's posting under multiple aliases. Not saying it doesn't/hasn't happened I never saw it.

you mean like "Destination Expert", "Aerules"- posted 100+on AC board "I give this post an hour" -minutes b4 threads are deleted- & never contributes a syllable of AC content?
Jerry - could you contact "Destination Expert", "Aerules", on the double secret VIP DE board, & inquire as to whether he never posts any Ac content- only censorship warnings (& only on EZ Dave's niteshift when EZ Daves not posting (Clark Kent /superman kinda thing?)
Obviously they are monitoring this board!

ROTFLMAO!
EZdave's rabbit ears strike again!
Jerry- your coincidences are on a roll tonight- I'd head straight to the casino.
Not the the casino- I'm heading to bed.
Maybe ,someday you can tell us who you refer to here, if an individual is gaming the system, to take away your contributions & ours :
"I spent time researching the subject after several of mine were closed. When you see those this will last 30 minutes about half of those I can trace to one DE. "
You don't know how many times I've reported posts for not being travel related or personal attack, such as "all smoker are.____", (some not so nice) or a ganging up on a particular poster, not ONE has been removed. I gotten a PM's and was told about that a "northern NJ" DE trolls the board at night and how he gets other DE's together and asks them to report posts that "could become conversational". I am told conversational posts are also against TA posting rules though in responses I've gotten from the TA administration, after I've written them about how and why bullying or not travel related posts were being allowed they replied that they"welcome lively discussions" Obviously they welcome lively discussions only about what they want discussed.
PS: I give this post an hour. Tee hee
As someone who's patronized AC 30+ years , I read the back & forth "free for all" that is the TA Vegas forum - The good the bad & the Ugly. Even the over the top comments that could be perceived as negative by some, all make want me want to visit Vegas more.
A few warped individuals with control issues took over that AC TA board "bored and lonely social misfits" as you aptly put it, stifle the promotion of AC as a fun, "sin city jr" type of destination.
I will not dispute that TA has a lot of influence over prospective 1st time tourists, & I've said the majority of remaining AC content on the TA board inspires one to sing showtunes, & take a nap, & NOT visit the destination.
I think having you & Jerry here, as DE vets, feeling free to speak your mind & exchange opinions is a breath of fresh air for many of us who have a keen interest in AC with no place to express it.
Let's face it casinos are located in the "Toy Dept" of life, why the hell would a sane person try to censor another's opinion on such a topic?
Hope for now this serves as the "TA/ Vegas forum" for AC (although how will newbies find it under "Silver Nugget " hint- hint)

Ha ha. I started off with one casino. Who knows, it could come full circle. Maybe they'll change the name of Resorts to Haddon Hall. :-)

Thanks Zuga for giving AC guys our own new forum. Previously AC guys had asked Arnold Snyder and Viktor Nacht for our own AC forum. We never got it. Now we will finally get one. Thanks again.
Strike the iron while it's hot. I, "Art", nominate 7star for the position of an AC Administrator. Hey guys, do I hear any second to the motion?

Who, HENNY? The sky may fall!
Yes, I second the motion! Looking forward to lively discussions and sharing real Information!
Quote: jerrysnjRoss, a DE cannot close or reopen threads on TA. There are moderators who are paid employees of TA that close the threads or from what I understand if a certain number of people, I don't know the number, report a thread as inappropriate it is automatically closed. If you had a thread of yours closed you can ask TA to be reopen them in the support forum which is on the main forum page. I've had threads of mine closed and even as a volunteer that helps them out TA would not reopen them when asked.
There have been very few threads that I've reported over the many years I've participated on the AC forum and I imagine most people would have wanted them closed for vile or racist comments.
I don't think I'm giving up any secret but there is a forum for DE only, no one else will even see it. I've seen some DE ask for other DE to report certain threads as inappropriate and even provide a link to the thread they want closed. This is not unique to the AC forum but there is one DE who is not even an AC DE ask for help in reporting threads on the AC forum. I've never done this and people who have never posted on the AC forum will do this as they think they are helping the appropriate DE. I've seen people from other countries respond to these requests.
I've posted before and I guess some don't want to believe me that a DE has no more power over the forums then any other participant. I do believe if as a DE you don't partipate on the forum that designation should be removed and offered to others as we have some on the AC forum that have been silent for a long time. I was asked to be a DE several years ago in a private message from Trip Advisor and accepted as I thought I could offer help to people visiting AC and recently was close to calling it quits there after several of my posts were closed but feel I could still help others but I don't post anywhere near as much as I used to.
There is an off topic forum that you can discuss any non travel related topics, this is also on the main forum page. You would still need to keep things civil, not post copyright material or promote your own business but many things closed for being off topic can be discussed on the off topic forum.
I hope that helped, if you have any other questions I'll answer if I know the answer.
Jerry
Thanks Jerrysnj. I just find it strange that every time I post, whether it is to warn people about the speed traps on the Parkway, or the fact that NJ Transit employs people with questionable pasts, that a DE will disagree with me, and then both my posts and screen name are gone. It is a shame. I can't even get on TA from my home computer anymore. Have a good night all.
Quote: dawgnmettyI was a DE at TA.....I posted here why I was banned, then I deleted my OWN post....but on second thought, this is why I was banned....stay tuned.......
Are you any relation to "EZDave"? he has a habit of seeing to it that some of his own posts are deleted- among a host of others?
Quote: dawgnmettyI have no relation whatsoever to EZDave. I would suspect that he has no clue who I am, except peripherally. I was a DE in Colorado, Evergreen, Colorado. I had one name, and one name only, Dawgg. The DEs all know who I am, I was a DE for years. I was unceremoniously banned from TA. I have a feeling, a hunch, that the DEs are cutting and pasting every word of this thread, so I am having a little fun.
Only asked because one of his many handles was "ParkTheDawg" -or something like that
Quote: dawgnmettyNever saw that, certainly never saw a DE by that name. But I was Dawgg488. You will see my posts on the Colorado forum, for the most part. I occasionally forayed into other destinations. But I have not been on TA for about 2 years or so, give or take. My avatar is me.
Good story- BTW- Do you enjoy Belgian IPA beer?

DE stands for Destiny Expert, i.e., 7star is an AC DE. TA is this: TripAdvisor.com

TA is Trip Advisor, a very popular review-driven forum for destinations, cruises, particular hotels, etc. DE are Destination Experts, volunteer people on TA who assist with information when other people have questions about a particular location or destination. TA also has moderators, admins who are separate from the DE's.
See how much I learned reading your posts, guys?
