I put a post up on the TA board letting them know we have a forum here that is not overly moderated

Well your post was replied to by "Destination Expert" "AERULES" -who's only contributions to the AC forum, are to post daily & weekly, "I will give this an hour" prior to a thread being deleted- I guess he thinks it makes him look powerful? LOL (if you notice he only posts on AC threads he says are about to be deleted, therefore there is no record of any meaningful content he brings to AC, although he posts the same BS contantly on deleted threads)

Aerules is a NOT a destination expert for AC he's for Princeton Junction. I heard from a reliable source that he's in cahoots with other DE's to get posts and topics deleted. He polices the board every night with the goal of deleting posts. I was told the main reason for deleting topics by the DE's are subjects that MIGHT turn conversational...HELLO, pages of replies on Fleetwood Mac songs, dribble, teehee's are not conversational? It all depends on which way the conversation goes and if it to the DE's liking.

Conspiracy theory- Perhaps "Aerules" is one of EZDave's "multiple personalities" - same condescending tone ?

Very smart to put this in the title.
I still don't understand what the DE gain by being idiots and deleting things.

Has to be frustrating to the boys in charge over there (and I don't mean TA itself) to see people coming over here to actually discuss issues and problems facing AC. I still could never figure out why they have such a vested interest in keeping anything negative off there. Other than UK, who had to have gotten something for this constant promoting of Revel. Otherwise he would have had to have been a total idiot to think that place would have worked. OK, it may have been both :)

I'm new here. Let's see how long I last. I've been banned from t/a for suggesting a commentator go back to rehab,it was a joke (sort of). I've been banned from commenting in the atlantic city press, they can't take a joke either. I live in AC and I can be quite observant and opinionated. I never mean any harm, keep that in mind.

I'm sure you'll be hearing from me in future.

Does this site have a mobile option ?

"Booyah" Ranman.

I think this board now has attracted the majority of objective posters, with something intelligent to contribute about AC, from what's left of that "Island of Misfit Boys" board run by TripConniver.com®.

I kind of remember him. Was he the guy who stayed in the city during Sandy and posted ongoing storm reports and was later banned?

Exactly what I thought.

I think he, himself, is admitting to curmudgeonish tendencies, but his live Sandy reports, from ground zero, were actually more informative & compelling than anything I saw or heard in the media. (& many of us were concerned re his fate when communications cut off). I also remember he rated casinos based on how they accomodated his bicycle.

I remember him reporting from the scene. We were all concerned about his safety. Thank goodness AC didn't get his as bad as some of the areas along the Jersey coast and on Long Island. He was almost calling us chicken little worrying about the sky falling and over reacting to the news reports and warnings. The devastation and aftermath proved that the news reports were not wrong. Many are still feeling the impact of Sandy.

Well my post was deleted in the bat of an eye. This is the first time I've ever posted on the subject of smoking in casino's. Never wanted to get into that and didn't even want to perpetuate that talk, but this time I had to. Same old, Same old...same posters with their judgmental hurtful slinging of name calling, their views and tirades.....I guess it's okay to call smokers names but you can't post viable concerns or experiences that are travel related.

Nice thought, but the Tee Hee'er is one of the main posters trying to sanitize the board from any touch of reality.

UK and tee hee person were good for T/A. T/A concerns trips, hence the name, not the odds of three card stud. They had the answers to many posters questions, although they could be annoying in their responses (tee-hee) ugh! They knew what to do for a two night stay in AC.

I was on an AC forum a few years back with a poster that was rather knowledgeable on AC, used to post a lot of old pics. This site reminds me of that one.

It's good to have you AC people here. Mrs and I get to Vegas once every few years, but we go to AC 3-5 times a year, driving from PA (we live about 5 miles from Mohegan Pocono) and staying at Borgata. We used to spend half our time at Borgata and half at Revel; last trip we tried Trop, but didn't care for it. And we had $50 each in free play from Resorts, which smells like an ashtray. I turned mine into $40, Mrs turned hers into $120, and we split for home base.

We used to be exclusively Caesar's, but the dealers' attitudes were so bad I swore off of the place, about 7-8 years ago. Borgata comps us low limit players with a mid-week room and decent free play. I don't care about the play, it's the room we want, I work weekends and midweek rooms are perfect. Next trip we might give Caesar's another shot though.

I never noticed bad air in Borgata. We do try to stay in the non-smoking areas, and it isn't very full midweek. Maybe on the weekends? I dunno. I was at a smoking table on a Tuesday, and I could stand it; the smoking players were accommodating in directing the smoke away from me, and I didn't make a big deal of it if I caught a faceful of gas, so we all got along I guess.

I don't think anyone was disparaging the content ( although the tee-hee entity has gone off the deep end, & those posts are now completely incoherent ), but censorship & shilling are not my cup of Tea. [mmmm,Teahee ] -y'all

From the posters that are here now, I don't feel there is any AC related questions that couldn't be answered for a tourist in an honest opinion. Many of us know AC in and out, good and bad. I hope we get the chance to utilize our knowledge instead of just bashing UK and others, though that is always so easy based on their actions.

Meanwhile I will be in AC this week enjoying the positives the city offers while avoiding the negatives.

You know, I was ok with TA for a long time. I'm an adult, most times with UK, I just skimmed over his "Cliff Clavin Syndrome" pompous posts and even TeeHee's rants and cute icon's with musical notes, arrows and writing backwards didn't bother me. I just scrolled down to find out info or read something from someone who's feedback I respected. It's the removal of posts, the censoring of topics along with the bullying that gets me upset and made me so mad.

Although I have to say Casinomom drives me crazy with her expecting something or everything for nothing attitude. AC has always been pay to play and always will be. It's just finding ways to make that an advantage is the trick. She just seems to want filet on a chop steak budget.

Players like that have used he system for so long that it makes it hard for the rest of us who do gamble a decent bankroll and should be getting what goes along with that not having to beg for a cup of coffee. I understand the thrill of using the system for all it's worth but when someone goes with a budget of $100 for the day or plays .30 a pull and expects rooms, food, AND to be treated like a high roller it gets my blood boiling then on top of it complain about every little thing from the smoke, to the lines to the buffet closing for renovations and huff they will never frequent their establishment again. Delusions of grandeur in my opinion.

You hit her to a T. Casinos are in business to make money, not feed someone like her as you stated day in and out with no chance to make money off her. AC made plenty of their own mistakes but some people expected far too much and for years they gave it to them.

Thank god for this forum. Apparently TA does not want relevant Atlantic City travel discussions. Even on the other forums if you do not agree with the "experts" you will have your post deleted and your account disabled. Every time I mention on the NYC forum my negative experience with NJ Transit from Newark Airport to the city, it gets removed and my account gets deleted by MoreFFMiles. So it is not just the Atlantic City forum but all Tripadvisor forums.

I know exactly what you mean re "yahoo stock boards" -but those guys who attack on there have an agenda that has nothing to with the subject at hand-no skin in the game -they're selling something (which some of us believe sunk the TA board re advertisers & shillers)

Almost all of those who post here, so far, are AC vets. Of course newbies are welcome& will hopefully somehow find it- I think it's the only collective source of an objective wealth of knowledge on AC .We may disagree sometimes, but have a sense of camaraderie, & just want to exchange observations, tips & humor etc.

I actually gained a lot of good info re ADT strategy, promos, & the like from the old TA board before Pravda tookover.

Now most informed players no longer post there, why waste the time if there's a 90+% chance it will be deleted?

In the end, are you better off ignoring 100 posts that annoy you, to find 1 post that is very valuable

- or better all 101 posts were deleted before you even read or ignored them?

I just noticed a fellow new member "rship1". I guess everyone is leaving the TA board.

Thanks for all the replies to my first post. I did follow up on some of them. Also in my first post instead of censorship, maybe I should have said enforcement of structure. For example I don't care if somebody wants to post dozens of threads about the merits of Gov. Christie for US President, but I don't really want to wade thru them on AC casino pages, and this site has the appropriate folder for almost any topic.

Hi guys, I've found this site also. I'm not sure how often I'll be checking in as most of my internet time is on my smart phone and this site is not as mobile friendly but I'll try to login at least once a day. I'll still be checking in on the TA site and you can always PM me there if there's something I can help you with if you don't just want to post your question.
I also have grown tired of all the closed topics and was close to calling it quits there but I enjoy traveling and have used TA several times at other locations that have made my vacations better. I figure I should try to return the favor.

Ross, a DE cannot close or reopen threads on TA. There are moderators who are paid employees of TA that close the threads or from what I understand if a certain number of people, I don't know the number, report a thread as inappropriate it is automatically closed. If you had a thread of yours closed you can ask TA to be reopen them in the support forum which is on the main forum page. I've had threads of mine closed and even as a volunteer that helps them out TA would not reopen them when asked.

There have been very few threads that I've reported over the many years I've participated on the AC forum and I imagine most people would have wanted them closed for vile or racist comments.

I don't think I'm giving up any secret but there is a forum for DE only, no one else will even see it. I've seen some DE ask for other DE to report certain threads as inappropriate and even provide a link to the thread they want closed. This is not unique to the AC forum but there is one DE who is not even an AC DE ask for help in reporting threads on the AC forum. I've never done this and people who have never posted on the AC forum will do this as they think they are helping the appropriate DE. I've seen people from other countries respond to these requests.

I've posted before and I guess some don't want to believe me that a DE has no more power over the forums then any other participant. I do believe if as a DE you don't partipate on the forum that designation should be removed and offered to others as we have some on the AC forum that have been silent for a long time. I was asked to be a DE several years ago in a private message from Trip Advisor and accepted as I thought I could offer help to people visiting AC and recently was close to calling it quits there after several of my posts were closed but feel I could still help others but I don't post anywhere near as much as I used to.

There is an off topic forum that you can discuss any non travel related topics, this is also on the main forum page. You would still need to keep things civil, not post copyright material or promote your own business but many things closed for being off topic can be discussed on the off topic forum.

I hope that helped, if you have any other questions I'll answer if I know the answer.

TA is Tripadvisor. Many frequent contributors to the Atlantic City forum are sick of having posts deleted that they thought were entirely within T/A guidelines for posting. Yet so called destination experts have posted things that were clearly not within T/A guidelines that were not deleted.
The D.E.'s at T/A are very cliquish, they see their view as the only view of Atlantic City. To them A.C. is neither blighted nor crime infested.
Should someone say question the safety of A.C. he/she will quickly draw this rath of censorship upon themselves.
They are the consummate promoters of A.C.
I personally like and still frequent A.C. But much of the city outside the touristy areas is what I consider a no go zone, especially later at night.

Jerry, I've seen with my own eye DE's post under multiple aliases, in one case where they admitted what they were doing.

If you follow the board closely, it's obvious they use those multiple aliases to launch multiple complaints to attack a single post or thread.

for ex- One the DE's posted a link referring to CZR BK

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29750-i78-k8068187-CET_February_Monthly_Mailer-Atlantic_City_New_Jersey.html#63576541

were that subject posted by a "non-DE" -it would have been deleted immediately (most likely on the "nite shift" by the same DE who posted this?)
