Introduction

On Monday, February 6th, 2023 the Kansas City Chiefs announced that their starting running back, Clyde Edwards - Helaire, will be available to play in the quickly approaching Super Bowl LVII, while his Kansas City Chief teammate in wide receiver, Mecole Hardman, will be placed on the NFL’s injured reserve list prior the big game this weekend. Hardman will obviously be unavailable to participate in Super Bowl LVII due to his pelvic injury.

Clyde Edwards - Helaire

Edwards - Helaire has yet to play since his NFL week - 11 regular season game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers where he suffered a high ankle sprain. Clyde finished in 3rd - place on the Kansas City Chiefs in rushing during the 2022 - 2023 NFL season with 302 - rushing yards as well as 3 - rushing touchdowns. Edwards - Helaire also pulled in 17 - passes from his quarterback which was good for 151 - receiving yards and 3 - touchdowns through the air.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ young and explosive star running back in Edwards - Helaire started the 2022 - 2023 NFL season as the K. C. Chiefs featured back in the highly - potent Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive unit prior to his ankle injury had resulted in him losing his starting position with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Much of Edwards - Helaire playing time this NFL regular - season went to the Kansas City Chiefs’ rookie running back, Isiah Pacheco, a 7th - round NFL draft pick. Clyde had just 1 - NFL regular - season game over the last year with a production value exceeding more than 10 - rushes which was during the Kansas City Chiefs’ week - 4 game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Isiah leads the Kansas City Chiefs in rushing throughout the 2023 NFL playoffs with 121 - rushing yards on his 22 - rushing attempts (averaging 5.5 - yards per rush) in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2 - NFL postseason games this year. The Kansas City Chiefs were unable to convert on a rushing touchdown throughout the course of their 2 - NFL playoff wins against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mecole Hardman

Mecole Hardman's National Football League regular - season finale concluded with the NFL’s week - 9 game vs. the Tennessee Titans in which Hardman finished his NFL season as the Kansas City Chiefs leader in receptions with 25 - catches, receiving yards with 297 - receiving yards, and he pulled in 4 - touchdown receptions. Hardman also rushed for an additional 2 - touchdowns.

Hardman was forced to sit out during the NFL’s divisional - round of the AFC playoffs versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he eventually came back to participate in the 2023 AFC Championship Game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. Although Mecole reaggravated his injury during that match - up resulting in having to leave the field of play prior to that game finalizing.
