I think you need to take a deep breath, hold it a bit, let it out slowly, and repeat a few times.
LOL. You mean you don't have a side bet with Satan of eternal youth for a win versus your mortal soul for a loss.
Um, no....Quote: OnceDearLOL. You mean you don't have a side bet with Satan of eternal youth for a win versus your mortal soul for a loss.

Did you hear about the dyslexic Devil worshipper? : Sold his soul to Santa.
Or the dyslexic agnostic? : Wasn't sure about the existence of Dog.
Or the guy obsessed with flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality? He was flogging a dead horse.
I'll get me coat.

Every bid I make will be undisclosed by the way. Playing for charity, but want to keep quiet for drama.

Doh!
Thanks for the info.
We are close to breaking point folks. Do y'all really want to be responsible for messing this up for everyone just in the hope of an extra $1 for yourselves
OnceDear, thought maybe out of line ( imagine that jhit ),
Perhaps you should threaten to kick some butt in dealing with the 'uncooperative' in a Thread titled 'Cooperation Game'.......
Just a thought, my mind wanders ;-)

So Tally up at this point which falls after the deadline for PM to Wizard is...
11 High
15 Low
4 Declined to say
8 Others did not say
and we needed 20 low to be sure of a win.
I wonder if Wizard's declaration of results is delayed while he holds a stewards' enquiry?
I wonder how many left it too late to bid?

Nooooo. I might have sought to influence a few late bidders to bid low, because I sincerely thought that would be the only way to win this round ( I bid low too)
It's not for any of us to criticise our fellow hustlers.
Please don't use my table of bids as any part of your stewards' enquiry count up. I believe that there was at least one liemisrepresentation

I didn't miss the recycling truck again, they come on Thursday.
Does anyone know whether we won or lost on round six?
Not that my $1 in winnings is going to burn down the house or anything.
Order Japanese twins. 30 or so years ago it was a hell of a deal!

A very unselfish round. I'm impressed by the lack of greed of most of the group. Still, as a group, you left a bit on money on the table this time.
Of the 38 players in the game, here are some details on their record:
Low every time: 12
Mixture: 22
High every time: 4
I think this game has been truly saved by the 31.6% of players who have gone low every time. This was something I would have never predicted. If I were one of them, I might feel taken advantage of by the four players going high ever time. I might be tempted to go high to teach them a lesson as opposed to enabling them.
Let's hear it from you 12 "always low" players. Why do you keep doing it?
Enough analysis. Let's take it easy again in round 7 and save the excitement for round 8. Choices for round 7 will be $1` and $2 again. Picks will be due 9 AM Vegas time on Saturday.
If we lose by one you can blame me. I just assumed since we were keeping a running tally people could make an informed decision and assume the worst and bid low.Quote: RomesHa me too! I think the biggest problem is the people who don't let us know they bid or forget to bid at all.

Yayyy. Way to go us...... I really thought we were screwed. I feel no remorse at all bidding low. No animosity to the weasels who voted high each time.
Boo Hiss to the 4 that didn't bid.
Wizard,
How many go to round 7?
Do you eliminate those 4 non-bidders?
If so, do we get to know who's eliminated/replaced?

Three of the people who didn't bid have pretty good records and probably just forgot. However, I'd like to get rid of the fourth person who hasn't voted since round 3. Any objections?

Who didn't vote? (In all fairness we should have that information) Obviously I don't want a known, normally reliable good guy to get booted(Even if he's on team selfish).Quote: WizardWhy don't you have animosity? Does it not bother you in life when people take from you to enrich themselves?

I'm prosperous. I have ample sufficiency. I'll take as much wealth out of this world as those weasels will when they die.
The game of life is fun. If I enjoy it, I'm winning. If it gives me an ulcer and I spend it in anger or hostility, then I'm losing.
That's my choice.
I think there's a fun back story to that question. I've no objection at all to the elimination of a persistent non-bidder, 'cos that will help us.Quote:Three of the people who didn't bid have pretty good records and probably just forgot. Similarly I've no problem keeping in the careless sods who missed the odd deadline. Unanticipated consequence of the listed declarations is that you might have felt yourself backed into a position of outing a game spoiler.
Thanks for the game.

Okay, good answer. So, how would you feel if you're at the grocery store wanting to buy one item, the shortest line is express "8 items or less" line and the person ahead of you has 27 items, many of which must be identified and weighed?
I just submitted my bid, but had to do it twice for technical reasons.Quote: onenickelmiracle...Number one, they may have thought their message went through when in fact it didn't ... and didn't realize it.
I originally submitted a two character message: Just a dollar sign and a number. I got an error stating that the message was too short.
Apparently I've always added a brief comment, because I never saw that error before.
Perhaps some of the "non-voters" got that error, but didn't notice it...
That's happened to me numerous times. Normally you know because you'll get a PM notice instantly, however if you hit send and exit WOV immediately you're likely to miss it.Quote: onenickelmiracleor they sent it to themselves and didn't realize it.

Quote: SOOPOOI will go for the single dollar this round, and am pre - announcing my high selection for the final round.
I'm going to do the same thing. I went high last round so I'll go low this round and high next round.
Quote: WizardWhy don't you have animosity? Does it not bother you in life when people take from you to enrich themselves?
I've been thinking about this too. I think the bottom line is that it's not really a choice between low and high. If I had bid high every time we would have missed the one a couple rounds ago. The way I see it it's really a choice between low and zero since there are a sufficient number of weasels bidding high each round.
Hopefully the big bidders won't forget the contributions of us lowly small bidders when the smoke clears at the end.

How generous of you!!! How do you seep at night? Ah yes, you have plenty of access to propofoll.Quote: SOOPOOI will go for the single dollar this round, and am pre - announcing my high selection for the final round. I am now thinking I may use the money to buy Megabucks or Powerball lottery tickets. If I win the jackpot I will then host a Vegas party with all those that participated in this cooperation game invited.
Funny how this forum is so enthusiastic about team sports like NFL games, but when it comes time to act like a team, it doesn't happen. There's as much a need for the nose guard or right tackle as there is for the quarterback or running back, but the latter 2 make the big bux and get the attention. Guess that's the model for some of us. Just like everyone who had a past life was Cleopatra or King Solomon. Nobody was ever the kitchen drudge who got killed with a kick in the head while turning the spit.
I'm tired and rambling, sorry. PM sent.

Quote: DocBTW, has anyone done an analysis of the previous round's declared and undeclared picks vs. the outcome? Is it possible to determine whether there were liars? Is it possible to determine whether there was a net lie, as in too many low or too many high picks in the outcome? Is it possible to determine what the "undisclosed" picks were in total (not by individual)?
I would think that it's impossible. People can lie in any direction....even if the numbers came up exactly as declared you could not rule out the possibility that several people lied...for example three people declared low but went high and vice versa.
Quote: bigfoot66The way I see it it's really a choice between low and zero since there are a sufficient number of weasels bidding high each round.
Don't you get a sense of schadenfreude when you punish those greedy people who think only of themselves? When an ape in a pack of apes steps out of line, he gets ostracized by the rest. Same is true of lots of animals that form small societies. It could be argued you are doing a disservice to society by enabling those who consistently go high.

Good. We have you on the ropes Mike!!!
$:o)
Try as you may to stir up unrest, why would we want to 'punish' the whole lot of us just because a few are taking bigger gulps of your money?
The extent to which 'they' are hurting 'us' is nothing to how much 'WE' (all) are hurting 'YOU' LOL.
They are playing the same game, to the same rules. They are not snatching 'our' money, they are snatching yours. So are we all. $:o)
