Online ad for Encore dealer training program says “up to” $60K starting salary. Glassdoor has average as $37K, high of $53K. Low is $17K, which I would take as closer to an entry level salary, but probably more than that for Boston.

So when it opens if I buy an Amtrak ticket for Boston I will be going to the correct city this time?

Yes, but it looks like there will be no direct rail service to the casino. A footpath if some kind is planned, probably from near the current Wellington Station on the Orange Line subway. 12 minute cab ride, insist on the Malden Bridge route.

Yeah just over a mile from Wellington Station, 22 minutes or so to walk depending on your pace.

They've been talking about a new pedestrian bridge from Assembly station across the water, which would be faster, more direct, and more pleasant. Haven't heard the latest news on that, but I don't think it's in motion yet. Wynn offered to pitch in some amount for the project, but not the full amount. So the local governments would have to pitch in the rest.

I would imagine a full time dealer will bring in more than $60,000 at Encore Boston.

Salary + tips > $60K for an experienced dealer, sure. Starting salary for a newbie = 60K, don't think so.

Wynn Resorts fined $35M by Massachusetts for misconduct allegations response. http://bit.ly/2J7R367

* Gambling regulators in Massachusetts on Tuesday levied a $35 million fine on Wynn Resorts but allowed the company to keep its state casino license and open its Boston-area resort as planned after executives failed to disclose years of allegations of sexual misconduct against company founder Steve Wynn.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission also fined CEO Matthew Maddox $500,000 for his “clear failure” to investigate at least one misconduct complaint and required the Nevada company, which also owns properties in Las Vegas and Macau, to be subject to review by an independent firm selected by the state. http://bit.ly/2J7R367

Has anyone on WoV been to the new Encore in Boston?

I would love to make a trip and review the casino but we have a 2 month old new baby at home (in addition to a 2 year old) so can't really get away at the moment. Maybe next summer :D.

Congratulations, Dad (and Mom)! I don't know when I might be in Boston again, but wouldn't that make a fun WoV NE meetup.

I’m planning on going on September 4 most likely. I’m sure it’s the same as the ones in Vegas and Macau I’ve been to, huge, beautiful and flawless.

The poker action is supposed to be great. I had lunch with a 10/25 crusher from 2+2 and that was his destination after the WSOP.

That’s partly why I’m going, I want to scout out the 1/2, 2/5 and 5/10 games and see if it would be worth going out there for a longer period of time. The problem I’m finding is that Boston is really expensive for accommodations. I can probably find a monthly for a decent price.

Finally visiting the new Encore! Hoping for reasonable table minimums...

Overall, this was good. Place is very shiny and new and classy and what you would expect from a multi billion dollar Wynn facility.

When I showed up I had to walk around through the thousands of slot machines before I found the craps tables. The craps pit has 6 tables, and on a Thursday night around 5:30 when I showed up, 2 were open. One at $25 min and one at $15 min. The $25 had some crazy hootin' and hollerin' so was probably hot. The $15 looked pretty warm and I stood around for probably 20 or 30 minutes waiting for a spot. Folks were winning and no one wanted to quit while they were ahead, so not a lot of people leaving. This was my only big annoyance - you have people standing around wanting to gamble, why not open another table? Oh well.

I got in at the $15 table. Bought in for $520. Played my usual pass line + odds plus 1 or 2 come bets + odds. Odds are 5x across the board, and they will let you go up another $5 on the 5/9 to make it an even number (e.g. a $15 pass line bet, point is 9, you can go up to $80 odds to make it proper). As I said the table was warm/hot and damn if I didn't cool it right down. Almost lost my whole roll in the first 15 minutes. Thankfully we recovered and it was choppy for the next hour or so, up and down.

Dealers were professional and pretty good. I wouldn't say on par with an elite strip joint, but definitely knew their stuff. I'd put them on par with a good downtown/off-strip crew in Vegas, or low-end strip. I expected lots of yahoo customers who didn't know what they were doing, and was mostly surprised. There was one guy who clearly knew just enough to be dangerous. He kept betting the "hard 12" and "hard 2." One of the base dealers joked "okay, well I can't pay you if they come easy!" He also routinely had his odds improper (odd amount on 5/9). The pit tried to help him but basically gave up. Also this guy was my LEAST FAVORITE kind of craps player. Making 3 or 4 different center bets, then just as the dice go out, decides he wants another one. Come on man, get your bets down and let the dice roll.

Eventually I needed a break to sit down so I cashed out $480 - $40 bucks down and a couple of free beers (tipped $1 every other). The drink service was prompt, which was a big thing I was curious on. They also would load up their trays with Sam Adams even if not ordered, which is a nice touch for a cocktail waitress. If you want one, they just give it to you, no waiting for the return trip.

Came back and the $15 table was still hammered with people, but the $25 was thinning out. I was feeling frisky and wanted a bit more roll to play the big table, so I took 2 black chips from my color in and laid the 10 ($5 commission). White knuckled it for a few rolls before big red showed up and I banked $100. So at this point I have $575 total and could have walked away a winner for the night. But what fun is that :P. Well long story long, I lost almost my whole roll (cashed out $24 after breaking a green chip for drink tips). The $25 table was choppy again, and we had some ups and downs. I actually had a decent roll for the table as I hit several 6s while I personally had nothing on it - was limiting myself to 2 come bets with odds at the green chip table - should have just made one more to hit some repeaters. Oh well, hindsight and all.

Didn't play anything else. My BS is very rusty so didn't even want to sit down at Blackjack. Didn't eat any food. The place smells nice, like a Vegas casino. No smoking inside. Shuttles from nearby MBTA stations were good (luckily I travel through these stations to/from work, so it was an easy trip for me).

I was at Encore Boston Harbor in late October. Played two poker sessions, both of the $1/$3 NL variety. Tables were soft, more so in the late evening hours. The casino is as clean and shiny as A&8 describes. The poker room is the same. You actually take an escalator from the middle of the casino and it lands you right in the middle of the poker room by the registration desk and cage. The poker room has 74 table (with a lot of game variety), all in immaculate condition with plenty of room between tables to move around. The room has brass railings on that overlook the main casino floor on three sides, and has it's own elevator to the parking garage. Food and beverage service were spot on in my first session, and not so much in my second session. The dealers I had (except one) were all friendly and efficient.

In the month of November, they are offering a $1,000 high hand promotion every 20 minutes between noon and 10:00 pm M-F on raked games. They take a $2 promo drop. 10% rake up to $5 max.

My wife saw a news story that Wynn was trying to sell the Encore Boston Harbor. But it sounds like it was just an unsubstantiated rumor.

Encore Boston Harbor not for sale, casino President Brian Gullbrants writes to employees

I'm sure they are gutting crushed financially just like every other casino during COVID, but I was surprised when I heard the rumor that the Wynn corp would throw in the towel this soon on a new property. So, not surprised that it was inaccurate.
