Holy cow!! When did boarding animals become so expensive? My wife and I are going on a trip and I need to board the two dogs and two cats. It is $3000. $150 a day. I was not expecting that.

Man, I got ripped off. I used to watch my friends 5 cats for free.

Petsmart's PetsHotel boarding services start with a basic kennel fee but can range from $27 to $50 or more per night, with prices varying by location, add-on services, and room type. Base costs cover essential kennel care, but you can pay extra for playtime, treats, walks, bathing, and other personalized services.

The early version of a smartphone. Introduced at the World's Fair in 1964, we saw it for the first time in 2001 a Space Odyssey in 1968 where they had a picturephone phone booth. These were sold all through the seventies but I never saw one they were way too expensive.

This is what we have done. We know a young man who lives with his parents and likes dogs. We let him house sit and take care of our three dogs for $55/day and he can watch all the Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and basic cable that he wants.

Sorry, just saw this. We ended up flying friends in to watch the animals for us. We bought their airfare, gave them $1000 spending money and let them use the house while we were gone. It worked out well. They got a free Florida vacation and we were happy to give them it.

If this was my cat I would pet him and pet him till he eventually moved. You cannot hurry a cat, they have their own agenda.

I think petting him will encourage him to stay. Obviously, that cat is starving. Fortunately, if I rattle a bag of cat treats, he will follow me to the end of the earth.

None at all considering that is my laptop in the foreground with a flight simulator and the cat sitting on the bed behind the computer.

In 1995 I almost bought a Cessna 172 but couldn't justify the recurring expenses.

Owning your own airplane is almost as bad as having a mid-sized boat and for the same reasons.

An awful lot of people have died flying their own airplanes. You can die in your own boat too. It just takes longer, and you are cold.

I've had decent sized boats and the expenses are not so bad as long as you can do most of your own work. It's nothing like the expense of plane maintenance where it must be done under authority rather than at your own risk.

You hit the nail on the head. There is almost nothing you can do on your own airplane unless you are certified. There are even bolts you are not allowed to tighten even if you know they are loose, must have a certified A&P do it.

I would absolutely fly a paraglider. I would prefer an ultralight airplane, but I would try either one. I used to fly a Cessna and was offered free helicopter training by the company I worked for because they knew I used to fly and wanted a backup helicopter pilot for the company. I turned it down as I do not like helicopters. On the other hand, it would have been nice to have a helicopter I could use for free and have free fuel and a private hangar.

My previous cat would jump up and start batting them while we are in the middle of a game. When finished playing I would have to cover the table because she liked clawing up the cushions too.
