Do you follow any sports teams? Miami has a lot of choices.
Do you have any interest in sports betting? Have you heard anyone talking about the possibility about legal sports betting in the casinos?
Lotteries and roulette bets are over in a few seconds. A few dollars on a sports bet can provide hours of interest unless the game is a blowout. When you lose it's fun to complain about the referees, stupid coaches, and so on. If you bet on the local team you automatically have a lot of friends to celebrate the win or commiserate on the losses.
The paycheck story is very strange. I spent many years doing IT stuff in various capacities at several major corporations. I never heard of anything like a payroll being days late.

That means lottery number predictions , random Walgreens stories , how you used your $5 freeplay , etc

I'd love to post about Lottery Predictions, but I was really dragged through the mud for those so I stopped.

Earn 10 points(Play $50 coin in and get TWO free gifts. One of them is a fancy looking mini pocketbook which would come in handy for me. I could get two of them. ) Also with the same 10 points/$50 coin in, you get Flamingo Fun. Pick a Flamingo and earn up to $1,000 free play but get more like $7. So sour I will miss out on these Steal Promotions due to my money coming tomorrow and not today. Drats.
The only logical thing to do is demand that your employer give you $7 free play and two fancy looking mini pocketbooks they deprived you of due to their error. If they say no, go home watch the opening scene of “300” then ponder your next move.

Clearly the smart play is to go to one of those payday loan places and get you some money today. You can't afford to miss out on two pocketbooks and $7 in free play.

Sweet and sour news. Sweet. I got my paycheck yesterday(it was delayed one day due to MLK Jr Day being a non delivery date). Sour. I deposited my check and was only allowed to have some of the funds immediately available to me because they put a two day hold on the check. I wonder if I should have just cashed it at a Check Cashing Place and they would have just taken out a percentage for the checking fee. Hmm. Choices, choices. Keep all the money and have a two day hold for most of the money or have a percentage taken out and have most of the money in my hand?

Ever hear of Direct Deposit? Would save you time and money. Just a suggestion.

It is a simple math question. How much would the check cashing place have charged you? How much is the value of the free play and other goodies worth? My hunch is you should make a beeline to the check cashing place!
Unless it will bounce due to Walgreens being fined over a quarter of a BILLION dollars for shady stuff....
Quote: BozEver hear of Direct Deposit? Would save you time and money. Just a suggestion.
I do have direct deposit, but I stupidly lost the card that my paycheck comes on. And when the new card came in,I failed to put the new card as Direct Deposit. I assumed that when I activated the new card the next paycheck would come up on it. It didn't. Silly me. So when Walgreen's gave the paycheck, the old card was no longer valid and the new card didn't exist in their system because I hadn't activated it as my new direct deposit card, so they had no choice but to send the check through FedEx. I really wish they had waited until a later that day when I would have claimed that I didn't receive my check and I would have activated the new card for direct deposit and they could have just put the paycheck on the new card then and there. Get my paycheck on that Thursday rather than getting it on Wednesday, almost a week later.

What?
You don't have Direct Deposit. They're sending you a card with a balance on it?
And YOU lost the card, so how were they not paying you? They had to replace the card so you could get paid? What was all that last week?
Direct Deposit is all electronic. It goes into a checking or savings account at a bank. No card to receive or lose.
Many banks will give you free checking accounts if you Direct Deposit into those accounts. That will include an ATM card you can use for free withdrawals at their machines. Might be a certain amount of those per month that are free, I'm not sure.
I would suggest you go to Regions bank and talk to them about it. I have an account with them that's free just because I have Direct Deposit.
It's nearly impossible in this day and age Walgreens doesn't offer Direct Deposit.
Not trying to yell at you. This just doesn't make sense with what you posted last week.
DON'T USE CHECK-CASHING OR PAYDAY LENDERS!! All the laws that keep them from totally screwing you are gone. They can take 20-30% interest for just a couple days now.

In "The Patty Duke Show" the premise is that there are two identical cousins; not siblings: cousins.
I scratch my head in befuddlement wondering about the biology which led to this result.
It's a stretch, but the closest I can come to a quasi-plausible explanation for identical cousins is that the same guy impregnated identical twin sisters, or in the alternative the same woman was impregnated by identical twin brothers.

My paycheck is Direct Deposited onto my Payroll Card like let's say NetSpend. So when I get paid, the paycheck gets direct deposited on the "Net Spend," card.

You're paying NetTeller fees to spend your own money when a bank will give you a free account and ATM card? You're inconvenienced a whole week when you lose your NetTeller card instead of going to your bank, showing ID, and getting your money free?
100% Ploppy move.
And Walgreens didn't NOT pay you. That was all untrue. Why did you claim they did?

They are lenders of last resort and actually lend their own money. Call it whatever, but understand if you lent money to the people they do you would need that rate as well.
And to make this sour story even more sour, the paycheck information website is STILL down as of 3:38 pm .This morning, I checked the paycheck information and it was down and I thought something along the lines of,"This would have been really bad if I hadn't gotten paid yesterday, but since I got my paycheck yesterday, it really is no skin off of my nose." How wrong I was. How very wrong I was.
Quote: billryanA abject lesson in why a person needs several income streams.
I am beginning to see a pattern. A couple of times in this month my instincts regarding my finances have told me to take precaution soon before something bad happened. My instinct to prepay for the month of January a service I need rather than just pay two weeks until the next paycheck, only to find my paycheck didn't show up until almost a week after my scheduled payday date. My instincts to not eat at the restaurant first but rather go to the bank and withdraw first and then go to the restaurant only for me not to be able to withdraw money due to a newly and currently restricted account.

It's NOT NetSpend that my payroll comes on. NetSpend is just the placeholder for the real card. I didn't say that Walgreens didn't pay me, I said I didn't get my check due to it being delayed.
I can see why OnceDear holds the opinions about her that he does.

They were. It was one of the first things Trump and the R's threw out in 2017 - the consumer protections on predatory lenders. They got rid of the Consumer Protection Board by refusing to staff it, and signed Executive Orders to countermand the intent. It's back to a free-for-all (as in, free for the companies to charge whatever desperate people will pay).

Aren't free markets great? With all these evil places increasing rates, it sounds like there is an opportunity to open up a shop next door and charge the wonderfully low past regulated rates. That's not happening. I wonder why?
Borrow $1,000 and pay it back that afternoon and you owe $1130. Then in 30 days, you owe another $130 in interest. Insane.
Dollar Tree has a form of floating loan available to people who deal in cash businesses. It's only about 65% interest per year.
Quote: billryanLast month, I was having a cash flow problem and went to the nearby Super Pawn. They explained it is 13% interest per month, and the interest is charged the first day.

But most people don't borrow money and then pay it back later that same day. Though it is crazy that you still pay $1130 for a same day pay back. Should give a free grace period of a couple of days.

13% for a single month is crazy. At your age, you should be beginning to build wealth, not spend or borrow money.
A similar commercial runs where a guy said he stopped smoking cigarettes because his Mom wanted him to stop smoking cigarettes. He went to Juul and said he is now shocked when he sees people still smoking cigarettes.
I wonder if smoking cigarettes will eventually fall off the face off the earth in the next 20 years. CVS Pharmacy completely got rid of all Tobacco and even Walgreen's Customers who smoke has been cut down by like 60 percent. I wonder if the Terrie Hall commercials were a big deterrent to smoking. Terrie went from being BEAUTIFUL in her youth before she started smoking heavily to looking haggard and older than her age and dying relatively young at age, only about 53 due to chain smoking. And before her relatively young death she got throat cancer and had to speak through a hole in her throat(Stoma)She mentioned the only voice her grandson heard from her was the weird and creepy voice her stoma gave her and not her original voice. She mentioned how much she regretted ever smoking and begged people to never start and begged people who already smoked to stop immediately. Though it wasn't all Terrie's fault.
When she started smoking she was very young and when she started Celebrities and even doctors were making cigarettes look glamorous and good. I must say after the creepy and sad Terrie ads,my customers coincidentally buying cigarettes so much.
There was also an anti smoking commercial where a rap star says something like,"Smoking will make you look cool," a beautiful movie star says,"Smoking will make you seem glamorous," and the final scene is a miserable old man in a wheelchair hooked up to an oxygen tank in a hospital saying something like,"Smoking can make you end up just like me," in a depressed tone. Coincidentally, many of my customers stopped smoking after this commercial too. Cigarettes are an expensive, dangerous, unhealthy, and deadly habit so it's very good that it's falling way out of fashion nowadays.
I'll start.
Dear Nathan:
I work in an office environment with an equal number of men and women.
Often when I go to the bathroom to urinate I note that the toilet seat is almost always in the down position upon my arrival.
When I finish going number two I am placed squarely upon the horns of a dilemna: can I in good conscience leave the seat up, or should I put it down again?

How/why do you go number 2 on an open toilet seat? That sounds uncomfortable at best.
But in a shared bathroom, the etiquette tends to be seat down after number 1. ESPECIALLY if you're in a windowless bathroom or after dark. The consequences of sitting down and into an open toilet are so huge compared to the trouble of putting the seat back down, it's just common sense.
And no, I'm not Nathan. But I have had a wet butt from a careless toilet-sharer more than once, so I'm giving my opinion anyway.
