Paycheck still hasn't come through yet as of 8:07 AM. The website where I check my paycheck information is also coincidentally down. Now officially worried. Oh crap. :/

What's weird is that another Coworker told me that she didn't receive her paycheck either yet other Coworkers got their paychecks. My coworker said she was still financially okay. My boss said that the checks would be getting sent out NEXT week. What good is getting a check NEXT week? I need my money TODAY. Luckily, my boss felt sympathy for me and loaned me $20. That was nice of him to do. :)

Perhaps this is a good time to think about having some savings put aside. What would you do if you suddenly lost your job? What would you do if something happened and you couldn't work? It happens to people every day.

The usual suggestion is people should have access to funds that can carry them for to 2-3 months. I'm guessing you have substantially less than that. Like, maybe, -$20 at this point. And you are probably far more likely to need that money at some point than you would ever win in a casino or the lottery.

Look at this as a live and learn moment. Stop making "bets", especially those that have -0- value to you. Forget the lottery: the chance of winning anything substantial is incredibly small and you are far more likely to keep donating to them over and over and over. And if you are playing slots at the casino then you are fighting a 10% casino advantage.

Save first, spend later. It just might save you.

Yeah, go ahead and name the 'fatal flaw'. It's one thing to say it and another thing to actually name it. None of this even applies to my game anyway. It's all related to people on how to learn basic strategy 'quickly' and with better 'logic' than 'assuming a 10 value card is underneath'.
Any private business open to the PUBLIC (ie. droned out casinos) cannot have a criminal trespass enforced against an individual without GOOD CAUSE (Disruptive or Disorderly conduct). You will never go to prison for being thrown out of a casino for legal advantage play and then returning because it's simply unconstitutional 'as applied' to the individual. 'As applied' constitutional issues must FIRST be raised in DISTRICT COURT (trial court) to have it thrown out. You CANNOT raise it on APPEAL This is the best kept secret in the world of casinos not just in Vegas but everywhere in the country. Thank me later.

Good and valid points and I thank God I prepaid for the month of January on one very crucial thing I needed. I shudder to think what would have happened if I only paid for two weeks(One of my thoughts was,'"I really only need to pay for two weeks until my next Payday." I then thought better and decided to go with the Month of January instead. Something smart told me to go with the Month of January.

Do you have a checking account? If so, simply have them transfer $5 a week into another account. You won't miss it. After a month, raise it to $10. You won't miss the extra $5 but now you are on the path to saving $520 a year. Wait a couple of months and double it to $20. you might miss the $10 for a paycheck or two but you'll get used to it and are saving $1,000.
If you still write checks, always round up to the nearest ten dollars in your registry. a couple dollars here, a deuce there and it begins to add up. The great thing is for most people, when you see savings accumulate, it makes you want to save more. You'll start cutting expenses to save money, once you get in the habit. Before you know it, you'll have a couple thousand in the bank and you can begin building wealth, not saving money.
It's a gradual thing but the sooner you start, the better you are.

Wow. New Year's Eve, I ended up in a bus accident. New Year's Day, I basically forfeited my big New Year's Pay to go to the ER for pain I was feeling due to the bus accident. Gulfstream Park has stopped all my free play for the month of January. About 2 weeks ago, I lost my card with virtually all my money on the SAME day that Casino Miami tells me I don't have free play on that particular day. Crap. Today, my needed paycheck didn't arrive. And is said it will arrive NEXT week. According to my coworker who also didn't get her paycheck, her missing paycheck will come NEXT payroll. Ouch. That's really messed up. :( January has been so horribly bad for me for the most part. I am beginning to feel like a female version of a certain "Self proclaimed "Cursed Poster, on here. ;) :(

It depends on how big the problem is. If a manager screwed up his payroll for a store, it isn't newsworthy. If the company didn't cover payroll, that's another story. However, you do not have to wait until next pay period ends. The real problem is making a big deal of it might end costing you your job. Talk to your supervisor, then his and up the chain until you get paid.
I ran into similar situations twice, both times when switching payroll companies. I wasn't even aware of it until a worker complained to me personally. Do not take no for an answer. They owe you the money now.

Here is a saving grace of the whole "Delayed paycheck," fiasco. Bills that were supposed to paid with this check have been extended until next Saturday after I explained that my paycheck unexpectedly didn't show up and has been delayed until NEXT week. I might be screwed if I end up like my Coworker who was told she was getting her payroll check NEXT Payroll. She did claim she was still financially okay with a missed paycheck, maybe that's why her payroll is delayed until NEXT payroll, but I on the other hand got a $20 loan from my boss out of sympathy, so I am obviously slightly worse off than her.

We moderators get a great deal of complaints about Nathan's Corner. That is why we created a "block" button, but that doesn't seem to be enough for the anti-Nathan camp. I suppose that just seeing "Nathan's Corner" on the list of recent threads is too much to take.

An action we administrators may not take is to hide Nathan's Corner. This is an action we may take. So, I would recommend Nathan's fans bookmark her corner to be able to find it. You may also find Nathan at her own forum and at DT.

For now, I'll take opinions pro and con about hiding this thread.

I'm sure everyone here can read, and if they don't won't to see this thread they can always unsubscribe from it. It's easy enough.

But I have a sneaky suspicion of who it could be, and most of the complaints are from that one person. But I could be wrong.

About the delayed check thing , my paycheck information website is still down. I begun to add two and two together. My last name is towards the end of the alphabet. If they do payroll based on alphabetical order of names, it's possible that the payroll information went down before they got to my name, which is why my paycheck didn't go through. Case in point. Coworkers whose names end with a C and a G got paid. I don't know my co-worker's last name to check if my theory is correct.

Most are somewhere in between.

Me, I just want to be entertained.

What do posters want from me? I BEGGED Wizard to let me start this thread because posters were saying they wanted me to have my own thread for my random thoughts and feelings, so I started Nathan's Corner with the Wizard's blessing. And posters are complaining about it. What a Catch 22! Sheesh! :/

can't get through life if you worry about what people think or say. Gotta let it roll off of you like a water off a duck's back, or something like that. I find political threads here to be a waste of time and garbage so I blocked it. People who don't like Nathan's corner can just block the thread.

Wait you have it blocked? Check it out. Yuge bombshell has been dropped. This time we got him.

Edit: Nevermind. We didn’t catch him. Next week though, we’ll get him then!

One can be prejudiced against or have a preconceived notion about someone due to any characteristic they find to be unusual or undesirable. You have already offered a block button, but that does not satisfy some forum members. REALLY ?

I like Nathan.

What exactly has she done. She had a few missteps early on but these were forgiven and she knows to be careful.
Why are people going behind the scenes to attack her? I may have some objections to some of the behavior on here. I would not secretly complain about it. I would state the objections publicly.

No surprise, but for the record I vote to keep Nathan's Corner thread in the open and as accessible as any other thread. It gets a lot of traffic, which is people voting with their feet.. If people want to suppress it, I suggest they stay away from the thread and not post on it.

If Nathan's thread goes, the Trump thread should go with it, imo.

You may have a minor point.

I am not secretly complaining about another poster nor would I do so.

Are you whispering in the Wizards ear that Nathan is a bad person?

He or she is a likeable character, my only issue is almost everyone here would bet most of their bankroll they are a sock of a previously banned member. And the last time that happened and everyone winked about it people got ripped off by a scammer.

Meanwhile an old man who never harmed anyone is banned everytime he tries to return as a sock.

Justice?

Strawman much?

I object to that insinuation.

I am not a sock of a previously banned Member. I promise.
