It's probably just that Walgreen's is honoring the Federal closures.
I'm sure you'll get your paycheck whenever the shutdown is over.
Quote: NathanHoly crap! O.O My Paycheck hasn't come through yet! I usually get it before 3:30 am every two Thursdays, but as of now, it is 4:19 am and I still not received my paycheck. Getting worried. O.O

What's weird is that another Coworker told me that she didn't receive her paycheck either yet other Coworkers got their paychecks. My coworker said she was still financially okay. My boss said that the checks would be getting sent out NEXT week. What good is getting a check NEXT week? I need my money TODAY. Luckily, my boss felt sympathy for me and loaned me $20. That was nice of him to do. :)

Do you not have any savings of your own?
Quote: vegasDo you not have any savings of your own?
Nathan believes in depositing her savings at various casinos. For a rainy day.
The usual suggestion is people should have access to funds that can carry them for to 2-3 months. I'm guessing you have substantially less than that. Like, maybe, -$20 at this point. And you are probably far more likely to need that money at some point than you would ever win in a casino or the lottery.
Look at this as a live and learn moment. Stop making "bets", especially those that have -0- value to you. Forget the lottery: the chance of winning anything substantial is incredibly small and you are far more likely to keep donating to them over and over and over. And if you are playing slots at the casino then you are fighting a 10% casino advantage.
Save first, spend later. It just might save you.

Yeah, go ahead and name the 'fatal flaw'. It's one thing to say it and another thing to actually name it. None of this even applies to my game anyway. It's all related to people on how to learn basic strategy 'quickly' and with better 'logic' than 'assuming a 10 value card is underneath'.

Why would anyone share a persons tell with them? It's the 17th. Have you broken into triple digits for the year yet?
Quote: HullabalooPerhaps this is a good time to think about having some savings put aside. What would you do if you suddenly lost your job? What would you do if something happened and you couldn't work? It happens to people every day.

Good and valid points and I thank God I prepaid for the month of January on one very crucial thing I needed. I shudder to think what would have happened if I only paid for two weeks(One of my thoughts was,'"I really only need to pay for two weeks until my next Payday." I then thought better and decided to go with the Month of January instead. Something smart told me to go with the Month of January.

Do you have a checking account? If so, simply have them transfer $5 a week into another account. You won't miss it. After a month, raise it to $10. You won't miss the extra $5 but now you are on the path to saving $520 a year. Wait a couple of months and double it to $20. you might miss the $10 for a paycheck or two but you'll get used to it and are saving $1,000.
If you still write checks, always round up to the nearest ten dollars in your registry. a couple dollars here, a deuce there and it begins to add up. The great thing is for most people, when you see savings accumulate, it makes you want to save more. You'll start cutting expenses to save money, once you get in the habit. Before you know it, you'll have a couple thousand in the bank and you can begin building wealth, not saving money.
It's a gradual thing but the sooner you start, the better you are.
Quote: MaxPenNo way is Walgreens making people wait a week for their checks. It would make the news.
It JUST happened today. Maybe had it been going on for like multiple payrolls, maybe it would be on the news, but not a one time thing.

If you are really going to have to wait a week for your pay the news will do the story. You need to demand your check or cash by end of day tomorrow.
I ran into similar situations twice, both times when switching payroll companies. I wasn't even aware of it until a worker complained to me personally. Do not take no for an answer. They owe you the money now.
There has been a lot of talk about people in the government missing their pay checks. #METOO, even if it's not true. That seems to be the normal nowadays.Quote: MaxPenIf you are really going to have to wait a week for your pay the news will do the story. You need to demand your check or cash by end of day tomorrow.

Ah yes, why didn't I think of that? She's really an undercover DEA officer.
We moderators get a great deal of complaints about Nathan's Corner. That is why we created a "block" button, but that doesn't seem to be enough for the anti-Nathan camp. I suppose that just seeing "Nathan's Corner" on the list of recent threads is too much to take.
An action we administrators may not take is to hide Nathan's Corner. This is an action we may take. So, I would recommend Nathan's fans bookmark her corner to be able to find it. You may also find Nathan at her own forum and at DT.
For now, I'll take opinions pro and con about hiding this thread.

Sounds like you're trying to accommodate a bunch of babies. I say a block button is enough.

Just my opinion

I agree 100%.
I'm sure everyone here can read, and if they don't won't to see this thread they can always unsubscribe from it. It's easy enough.
But I have a sneaky suspicion of who it could be, and most of the complaints are from that one person. But I could be wrong.
eta: it's not who you might think.

Agreed. I skip the political threads, systems, and amateur legal 'experts', but it never hurts my feelings to see them there.

As The Boss once wrote: " But, Mama, that's where the fun is"
Nathans Corner has become more of a 2nd rate miscellaneous discussion thread. I would go with the bottom line, and I wonder, does it help or hurt the forum financially.Quote: WizardAnnouncement

Quote: NathanWhat do posters want from me?/
Some want you to be tarred, feathered, and dropped in a ditch.
Others want you to have their child.
Most are somewhere in between.
Me, I just want to be entertained.
Quote: NathanWhat do posters want from me? I BEGGED Wizard to let me start this thread because posters were saying they wanted me to have my own thread for my random thoughts and feelings, so I started Nathan's Corner with the Wizard's blessing. And posters are complaining about it. What a Catch 22! Sheesh! :/
can't get through life if you worry about what people think or say. Gotta let it roll off of you like a water off a duck's back, or something like that. I find political threads here to be a waste of time and garbage so I blocked it. People who don't like Nathan's corner can just block the thread.

Wait you have it blocked? Check it out. Yuge bombshell has been dropped. This time we got him.
Edit: Nevermind. We didn’t catch him. Next week though, we’ll get him then!
What exactly has she done. She had a few missteps early on but these were forgiven and she knows to be careful.
Why are people going behind the scenes to attack her? I may have some objections to some of the behavior on here. I would not secretly complain about it. I would state the objections publicly.

You may have a minor point.
I am not secretly complaining about another poster nor would I do so.
Are you whispering in the Wizards ear that Nathan is a bad person?

He or she is a likeable character, my only issue is almost everyone here would bet most of their bankroll they are a sock of a previously banned member. And the last time that happened and everyone winked about it people got ripped off by a scammer.
Meanwhile an old man who never harmed anyone is banned everytime he tries to return as a sock.
Justice?

I object to that insinuation.
