what a great, great tv show from the 90s - "Homicide Life on the Street" - set in Baltimore MD.

the uploads from the top link are good quality. from the bottom link only fair. it's okay. I'll take it.

This is a gun post.

To my NY friends, including non-NY'ers who have a permit to carry, please be advised / recall that Gov Cuomo's SAFEAct means that your pistol permit expires at the end of THIS MONTH. You MUST re-register either at the clerks office or online or your permit becomes NULL and VOID. Should you let it lapse, you have to go through the ENTIRE PROCESS all over again, will be branded a felon (assuming you have handguns at the time, which would then be a Class E or D felonious weapons possession without a license), and will have to surrender all your gear until you get it back (weeks in the sticks, roughly a year in the more populous counties). Don't be a victim to Cuomo's backdoor bulls#$%.

To the rest of the forum, BOLO that this guy's gonna be on a ticket in your area, possibly / likely for POTUS. Act accordingly.

And an aside to this...remember that despite the differences in state laws, guns are a federal game. Also remember that in any licensing process there is a part that you must state you are not an addict or using any controlled substances. For the love of Christ, do not let the new found bounty of legal weed dupe you into getting a weed card. You CANNOT* be a legal weed smoker AND a legal gunner. If you're gonna black market one of them, let it be the weed.

*speaking from a broad but still ignorant standpoint. I don't know every law for every state in the union.

Now back to your regularly unscheduled program.

Never agree to gun registration of any kind. It is a potential trap.

I like this song she has a good voice I just saw this on MTV. Not even watching TV probably 7 years something like that, MTV that is. It surprises me how young everybody is seems like dead at 25 on MTV. Okay so good voice of this young female singer, right now it's funny, she's surrounded herself so noticeably with women that are, so much uglier than her. There's not supposed to be that much of a difference this looks like the Westminster Kennel Club.

Also noticed on MTV all the songs sound the same for the most part..

my other half won't let me listen to classical in the car. so I have to listen to pop. I like maybe 1 out of 1,000 pop songs.

I'm a proud dirtbag. Been drinkin' Erie since the 80's. Swimming at a Superfund site since I could walk. Ponds, puddles, I drink it all. Swamp tramping barefoot, all the good stuff. Communal showers for 30 years ain't never worn a sandal. No ringworm, no athlete's foot, no jungle rot, no crotch fire. No beaver fever, no tapeworms, no flu, no food poisoning. Shove a raw 3rd degree burn into 20 years of sweat soaked skates and... nothing happens. I wash my hands for brake fluid and that's about it. That s#$% is nasty.

I'm either a high octane antibody farm or the future Patient Zero. TBD.

The Aziz Ansari story and its responses are fascinating. There is finally some pushback from feminists who place responsibility on the woman for her actions. On the other hand, a few feminists are pushing for society to look at the deeply engrained roles that women and men play in society and to look at changing that, and I think this is where the heart of change lies. It's very difficult to change society in one year or even a generation. Men have been taught to be sexual aggressors and it may be even hormonal; women have been taught to be acceding and reserved.

The exchange between Ansari and his 'victim' have likely been experienced by every woman. Boundaries are changing. Women and men must take responsibility in understanding that changes take time. Men need to learn to be less aggressive; women need to take more charge. And every man and women are going to have different expectations of how to behave and what to do in these situations.

Mistakes are going to be made - definitions of what is consensual and what is not are going to result in misunderstandings. The night that Aziz and this women had is likely a night of misinterpretation wrapped up in alcohol. Aziz crossed the line, but what is the line when an attractive women is sitting naked on your kitchen counter at home? To me, it's blurry when your BAC is 0. And a total fog after a couple of glasses of wine.

I think the idea goes beyond sex and more to who is more powerful or dominant, just like in prison rape. If you are in the position to intimidate someone, you have a moral responsibility to take that into account. In such a case just leaning in aggressively into someone's personal space can be intimidating. In fact that's the posture two street combatants often start with. Chest to chest. It's probably an instinctual response to sense a warning of danger from that.

Most of the time that is the man, but not always. For instance female boss and male employee she sexually harasses. The power situation is reversed.

The person in power has more responsibility in such situations when there is no explicit permission by the other party.
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

The NYT article cited some crazy stats. Like 25% of millennial men think asking a woman to buy a drink is harassment.

The last useful thing feminism did was identify workplace harassment. But, as ideologies tend to do, it's become an insane cult. Unfortunately, it has a lot of currency, unlike other batcrap ideologies such as libertarianism and Marxism.

Even "pushback" articles still seem to cling to the underlying idea that men are inherently evil and never deserving of understanding or compassion. I mean, you're a famous guy. A woman approaches you. You rebuff her. She persists. You agree. She comes up to your place. She gets completely naked. You... try to do her and then when she says no you accept it. But somehow, it's even possible to discuss the idea that she's done nothing wrong and you have. In fact, that's the default assumption.

An underemphasized aspect of the story is the idea that everyone's private life and private decisions should be subject to public scrutiny. (The personal is the political!) This is a totalitarian mindset, now accepted in many circles. There was another recent case where a porn star was driven to suicide because she chose not to have sex with a gay guy. Those responsible feel they did nothing wrong, for the most part.

Oh well, we'll probably nuke ourselves or bake ourselves or something else pretty soon. I'll try to mostly ignore politics in the meantime.

There seems to be a default viewpoint of male guilt as females are viewed as victims who have a right to be heard and a right to be believed and often believed without question.

In the UK so many rape cases have recently collapsed that the police were told to review all open rape cases for proper disclosure of exculpatory evidence to the defense attorneys.

Once I was out in a parking lot at night talking to someone who also was about to leave. Behind him but quite high a big seemingly brilliant flash occurred, a meteor that bifurcated ... it was marvelous! But he did not see a thing.

Man in Rhode Island casino spots an elderly woman cashing out and follows her over forty miles to her Quincy, Massachusetts home.

Lack of awareness on the road and in the casino?

The NYT article cited some crazy stats. Like 25% of millennial men think asking a woman to buy a drink is harassment.

I'm glad I'm married. You can't even talk to women anymore. Back in the day you just had to worry about getting rejected. Now you just look at someone the wrong way and you have to worry about rape allegations.

That is so true. I wouldn't think of taking a girl home from a bar anymore.

Such a form would be viewed as evidence of coercion.
