Or have you forgotten..
President Obama is doing a poor job. Hillary's husband did a better job, but I don't think Hillary will be a good President. She does have a better chance of being a good President than the current one, though. His performance is going to be hard to bottom!!
Quote: AZDuffmanAnd some examples of these lies, please?
Are you trolling now?
You mean like some rightwingers continuing the lie about his presidential eligibility even after the birth certificate, or lesser known things like Limbaugh claiming Obama was mandating circumcision. Or perhaps the accusation Obama is even a close comparison to a socialist like Chavez. Perhaps you've even heard that Saul Alinsky wrote Obama's books. Or perhaps the lie that he can't communicate without a teleprompter.
If you want to make a ridiculous claim about your side not lying, it would behoove you that no one really believes that kind of fairy tale except naïve people.

Hill can run on her record. Er, what IS her record, anyway.
Did nothing as a senator except run for president, and even
less as SoS. Point to one thing she accomplished, just one.
If you look it up, it says she killed Bin Laden (lol) and fought
for women's rights. Certainly a record to run on, not..
Being married to Bill is the only worthwhile thing she can
point to. Such as it is..

Well lets see, they asked to see a birth certificate which is totally reasonable. It should be a requirement to even run, that it is not is amazing. And no worse than the "Bush was selected not elected" that we heard for years.
Obama *is* a socialist like Chavez, or do you not hear most of what he says? Spread the wealth? Favors single-payer health insurance. Stole GM and Chrysler from their rightful owners and handed ownership to the UAW. Said right out he wants to bankrupt coal power plants in favor of sources he prefers.
And the guy can barely put two sentences together without a teleprompter. Oh, yes, he did communicate effectively without a teleprompter, he said, "IF YOU LIKE YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE, YOU CAN KEEP IT!"

Doing nothing is a good thing. A politician that has a great record simply means that he/she wants higher taxes and or fewer personal liberties for the citizenry.

No one who has done a serious analysis of Chavez could actually compare the two. Last I heard most of the Republican party still openly support some established socialist programs in the U.S. like Social Security. I suppose they are socialists.

I love this line that Ron had to add in at the very end regarding Obama's health care lie:
Quote:On history's scale of deception, this one leaves a light footprint. Worse lies have been told by worse presidents, leading to more severe consequences, and you could argue that withholding a caveat is more a sin of omission.
Does anyone remember him adding in a similar line about Bush when he was in charge? Neither do I.
The Blue Jays didn't make a qualifying offer to Josh Johnson. Now that was a complete waste of money on something that should have been promising. When will the Skydome have real grass. When will the team actually start to compete? From what I can see, the answer is no.
Do you ever notice when an old post on your Facebook wall comes up to the top because someone decided to comment on it 3 weeks after the fact? I really don't care that much about a random comment a friend of a friend says on an old post. I think facebook should change the way things are ranked on their page.
Do you notice how many people are playing that stupid Candy Crush game? I see it in the subway, in the airports. For cryin' out loud, it's a freaking game. Get a life.
My local Buffalo station (102.5) which usually plays a really good mix of today's hits with yesterday's stuff while staying away from disco and rap always switches to Christmas Music. On November 1st. WTF? I had a client where they started to play Christmas music in our project room on November 1st. By the time Christmas hit, I was ready to kill someone. STOP it with the early Christmas music. You want to start on the day after Thankgiving, go for it. But please stop. I'm a Christian. I like Christmas, just not in November. Yes, the station is no longer on my presets.
There are some people on this site who simply parrot the FoxNews line without really thinking about what they are saying and whether it might be true or not. I enjoy statements with thought and insight, but these one liners and short statements about how ObamaCare sucks (and yes, it does, but not because of the one-liners) really say alot about you. Obama is absolutely to blame for the failures in healthcare.gov and the inability to put up a working website and get people signed up into the exchanges. And certainly, it was kind of predictable that insurance companies would turn around and rape their customers that didn't meet the ACA. But then again, Congress itself has been unworkable for the last 5 years. I like RonC's critiques and Face's short essays, and I even like EvenBob's short rants, but the one liners are just useless hate (and that goes for s2dbaker too). I get it. You hate Obama. And Obama has been deceitful on this issue, for sure. But let's talk about what sucks about ObamaCare rather than let it denigrate to pages and pages of one-liners.
Toronto's mayor smokes crack. He thinks this is the big sin. But the sin is the lying and deceit on the way to doing it. He spent months denying that there was a video of him smoking crack and denounced the Toronto Star and other media outlets that criticized him. It turns out that the media was absolutely right. He owes the media an apology and the people of Toronto for lying. The crack isn't the issue. It's the bull.

Maybe it should be, but it isn't, and so one wasn't asked of Clinton, or McCain, or Romney. And three days after this nonsense hit NRO, in June '08, Obama released his short-form birth certificate, the one that would be accepted by just about anyone who asks you for a birth certificate, and that should have been the end of it, to the extent it should have begun at all. But lunatics kept moving the goalposts until he was being asked to do the impossible, and flexing his presidential muscles, in April 2011, he did it. He provided verification no one else would ever be allowed even to see themselves, and they still haven't stopped. I've got to tell you, I usually see the idea of a "dogwhistle" as a silencing tactic, but for these people... enh.

Quote: boymimboHotel rooms charge so much for room service. The meal itself is expensive, but when you add in the taxes, service charges and gratuities you're up to about 45% of the original bill. Still, enjoying dinner in your skivvies is worth the cost. And maybe Mission can answer this: why are TV stations in the room a short list of what's offered on cable? Is it a cost factor or do we actually expect to get bored in our rooms and watch a PPV movie instead. We have the internet, dontcha know.
I can't answer anything having to do with room service because we don't have it, nor have I ever worked in a hotel with it. I have never used it, and I would never use it because it is a waste of money. I'd just order a pizza from somewhere, same effect.
With respect to the Cable, I can't answer that question because my hotel has nearly 200 channels, including ten foreign language (well, Spanish) channels. We have free wireless Internet, and we're not allowed to do PPV movies, franchise forbids it.

I agree. One of the problems I see with this conversation is the constant drone of people who only see things one way and throw it in your face if you are on the other side. It is like they can't admit that their side had flaws. If one of us says our guy's work had flaws, they parrot that and refuse to say anything bad about their guy's work.
Obamacare has many flaws. It is was obvious that it was going to have them from the way it was passed. I know some feel it could not have passed at any point except when it. Great. Now we have this law that everyone concedes is flawed and no one from the President's side is even willing to put forward any legislative changes to fix it. They do things through the backdoor, changing the effective dates by executive decision (is that even legal--changing part of a passed law without passing something changing it?), and ignoring other problems.
The young people needed to support the program aren't signing up in droves as they need to be. The penalty is can only be enforced on people--so people will adjust withholding so that they don't get a refund once they figure that out. No penalty. The web site is a failure.
What deals were made with the insurance companies?
So much for the most transparent administration in history.
Fix it, Mr. President!! Man up and say your signature legislation needs help and stop campaigning.
I think Ted Cruz was a nut about the shutdown. But I also think President Obama is off to a lousy start on Affordable Care Act.

Quote: BuzzardRomney was leading in the polls. How did that work out ?
He was and he wasn't. The issue was that no one was sure of the black turnout: some thought that the idea of the first black president had given it a boost in '08 that wouldn't last, whereas others thought a preexisting trend had accelerated, or that keeping Obama in office (and the increasingly tea-tinted GOP out) would keep it high. You may recall from the runup that some members of this forum (cough, cough) were holding rather fast to the former, but the latter turned out to be basically absolutely right, with more black voters per capita than white for the first time in American history.
The Republicans were in agreement that the Virginia gubernatorial race was a referendum on Obamacre. Who am I to disagree with Reince Priebus and The Cooch. Much of the disapproval of Obamacare comes from liberals like me who think that Medicare for everyone would be better. Despite that disapproval, none of us that I'm aware of would want to repeal Obamacare and go back to letting insurance companies screw their customers over.
Quote: s2dbakerThe Republicans were in agreement that the Virginia gubernatorial race was a referendum on Obamacre.
And the Democrat did not get a majority of the vote, plus the only group that went way in his favor was unmarried women.

So government should provide me:
Food?
Shelter?
Clothing?
Transportation to work?
Pay my utilities?
You do not NEED health *insurance* it is merely one way to pay. There are others. No need to force me to buy insurance coverages I do not need or want just so some people can get theirs free.

Glad you feel that way. Now, are you willing to turn in your antique cars to the government and either take the bus or get a moder n car?
You see, those old Studes are "substandard" cars. They have no air bags, anti-lock brakes, or emission controls to start. So you should really be willing to give them up and let the government choose the vehicle you get to own.
Ready to do that?
Thanks :)Quote: AZDuffmanGlad you feel that way.

As I said, you cannot have them because they are "substandard" to what government thinks a car should be. Please be a good liberal and take what government thinks is best.

Not really, lets consider:
1. You believe in single-payer, socialized health care
2. You said the government should provide what you "need"
3. You agreed with me when I said "does that include transportation?"
4. Therefore you must believe in "single-payer transportation," or at the least the government regulating it so nobody does without and no "greedy people make a profit."
5. You have stated your love for Obamacare, which states what kind of health insurance we can buy.
So, again, are you willing to sell your Studebakers and buy a non "substandard" car?
Again, complete non-sequitor failure. Especially #4&5. You lost this argument as I would expect from a low-information conservative. You're beginning to prattle on like Beethoven9th.Quote: AZDuffmanNot really, lets consider:

Really? So you never buy food from the grocery store? The government provides you with a car? You live in a house sold to you by the government?
I can buy my own food, cars and houses so I don't need the government to do it for me. Just asking such a question reveals a willful ignorance that I find somewhat shocking. Why would I want the government to provide things that I can easily afford? I need a place to live but I want a large house in the 'burbs. If I should ever fall on hard times, I expect the very basics of shelter that government can provide. Government should provide the things we need. I don't need the government to provide me with food, cars or houses at the moment thank you very much.
You must have him confused with the head of the DNC. Priebus is the chairman of the Republican National Committee, and he's basically a figurehead. Uninsured Americans reject ObamacareQuote: s2dbakerThere was a referendum on Obamacare and Obamacare won
Gee, while s2dbaker keeps going on & on about the Virginia gubernatorial race (which had nothing to do with health care, BTW), it looks like he's ignoring an ACTUAL poll on Obamacare. ;)
I have to do my tax returns by April 30th. The fact that I haven't done them yet by April 29th isn't because I reject tax returns. It's because I'm procrastinating. What else would you expect from the 47%?
*applause*
Quote: boymimboExcept that the actual poll is that uninsured Americans are IGNORING the health exchanges. You went onto the "jump to conclusions" mat to say that Uninsured Americans reject it.
It seems quite simple, low-information Obama voters are hearing about the exchanges and saying, "WHAT? THIS ISN'T FREE??"

Most people in the real world understand what commonplace words mean and don't need them redefined. Libs want to redefine 'ignore' and 'marriage', and they don't even know what the meaning of the world 'is' is. lol!
