Quote: ams288A lot of these new rules and regulations the casinos are hyping won’t be enforced. A lot of PR hype to get people okay with the idea of reopening. Anyone really think the pit bosses are going to wipe down the player’s spot every time someone leaves the table?
That’s exactly what I been saying. All these emails and announcements coming from casinos about new procedures and “7 point plans” and “revamped guidelines”.. it’s all nonsense. Go into a casino about a month after they reopen. You’ll feel like your back in pre January 2020 again. Aside from the customers who’ll have masks on.
Bottom line, when you take part in casino gambling you’re taking a health risk. You always were , now there’s just an additional and more highly contagious risk. I will not be shocked if there’s an outbreak in southern NJ after AC opens. As of now it’s the only area of the state that’s been lightly hit because it’s not as densely populated.
Bellagio, NYNY: June 1
MGM Grand: June 4
All other MGM Vegas resorts: July 1
I suspect the first three resort openings are what they’re really aiming for right now and the other resorts could get pushed back further than July 1 based on demand.

I would suspect that not necessarily be the case, the majority of AC casinos are fairly empty during the week. Borgata is really the only one that has a steady flow of patrons. Most of the competition from PA and Philly has cannibalized the AC crowd and if anywhere, I would pick Wind Creek to have the first incident of outbreak.
They had a handful of employees test positive and they bus in the most people on a daily basis. I haven't been there in a year and don't ever plan to go back. They were infested and a health risk since they opened table games 10 years ago. Heck, they wouldn't even give bottled war to you if you didn't have Preferred Member Player Card, which is very tough to get no matter how much you play there.

A manager at wind creek once told me they have 8 buses come in from NYC each day. Wonder if they’ll still want that crowd heading in.
They are switching to appointment-only gambling according to their email.

I guess it depends on the contract with the bus company and the driver's willingness to be exposed daily. If the bus company makes Wind Creek adhere to their contract AND the drivers agree to a compensation rate adjustment(for better or worse), then I suppose the buses would continue.
I do know of one bus company that ran 3 daily buses to AC and 5 during the weekend, will be shutting down indefinitely and has laid off several drivers who did the AC run. One of those drivers texted me personally to inform me of this. But they were hardly ever full and were barely staying afloat prior to covid closures.
Added: Our society is falling apart. The shit thing about all all the money the fed is spending is it really is mostly being spent in ways which it's not even real. Money to pay for things which are just contracts with no real value in them by themselves. They're not spending a trillion on a trillion's worth of shoes or apples, it's just being spent in digital ways. The pain will be felt in real ways for people who are in the bottom 50%. If I think about it, now there are people with a motive to not want things to return similar to what we had, enough billionaires would make more money with a shut down, reshaping of the world we know. The only limit is the imagination. My first thought would be there would be a motive to spread this virus to some people.
Quote: DRichThey won't. They will argue that because the dealer is wearing a mask it doesn't matter.
No way can they. If wearing masks obviated the need for '6 feet', then we could have full tables just by requiring patrons wear masks. Either 6 feet matters or 6 feet does not matter.
If you give an inch, they'll take a mile. I'm pretty sure 5'11" is ok but I'm not sure 1'11" is ok. As more people get sick, it really has to get better. No treatment, no vaccine, cannot all wait for this to be true if it winds up being the case.Quote: SOOPOONo way can they. I agree it shouldn't be okay, but the six feet social distancing will not be enforced.

You know why they aren’t going to go that route....
In reality, requiring masks is probably the best way to go. Governor out here invoked the violence potential as some lame excuse for not making it a requirement. The reality is he knows there is a bigger, far more important argument to the casinos for not making it requirement.
The guidelines are the biggest farce going, IMO. Penny wise, pound foolish.
I think casinos would be wise to open up just a few popular gambling rooms and block off the rest to cut down on the sanitizing efforts.

Some changes: Sycuan, Wednesday. Jamul, Thursday. And Valley View still plans for Friday.
Edit: And I just noticed the fine print-- "Masks or face covering required at all times. Guests will be subject to temperature checks at the door. Social distancing measures will be encouraged and enforced; casino capacity will be limited and subject to availability. Entry is not guaranteed."

On the Caesar's App they offer me comp rooms for June 3-30. Tried booking it and it keeps getting an error. So you may be correct in AC hotels not committing to any bookings yet.
They are offering a daily tier point giveaway by accepting the offer on the app, so I am getting 10 tier points a day with out a penny worth of play!

Claim is every casino in the USA was closed at one point. Any idea when the last time that happened was? 1963? 1941?

No way. Reno started up around same time as Vegas. Hell I bet Laughlin was going before AC opened.

Laughlin opened his motel/casino in 1964. First resort casino was 1966

Sorry, my East Coast came out.
I should have said Nevada.
On the East Coast Las Vegas is synonymous with Nevada and gambling. Most likely anyone who says their going gambling in Nevada assumes Vegas
So to clarify Nevada was the only state with gambling before 1978?

Whenever you earn tier points at the slots you get equivalent reward points (except for the odd specials days)
To me they are the same thing.
If earning them the way you mentioned doesn't even buy you stuff at the gift shop then what a waste of time.

Nope, incorrect. When you get tier credits from an online giveaway or contest, they do not give you Reward Credits as well.
But since it's all the same to you, I guess you could convince some homeless people to redeem the tier creds for you with the promise of candy bars!

Were there some early Indian Casinos in the 70s? I have no idea. But for the question I figure it is impossible to calculate "early" casinos before territories were officially organized but had casino saloons. Just go back to whenever NV legalized as the start date. For that my guess is it comes down to 1963 or 1941.
By "closed" I mean 24 hours or more, Not some pause in 1963 that was a "minute of silence" kind of thing.
Quote: rxwine"Men playing faro in an Arizona saloon in 1895"
Arizona wasn't a state back then. If we include territories, Puerto Rico has had gambling since at least the mid-60s when Scarne and Thorpe first battled.
