I was at the market when the election thread was closed. I still have something to say.

"Well, this thread certainly went off the rails quickly. I could easily throw down suspensions right and left" -- Wizard

Go for it. I thought we did pretty darn well, considering. I thought most of what we said could be used to make a guess on the current election. We brought up factors that affected past elections. I didn't see it go "off the rails quickly".

But go for it. If you think we clearly violated the spirit, then "easily throw down some suspensions". I won't cry about "entrapment", I don't think it was entrapment. And I'm no crybaby. Do it. It's your shop.
'Emergencies' have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded.

So at the end of the day, does money and net worth matter? If so, Soopoo beats us all as he lets us know at every turn.
!

Money and net worth does matter. But not as a measure of a person's worth. I think people are interested in my stock stuff. Some must be, they interact pleasantly. I frankly don't know how many have saved more than I have. Who cares? My 'worth' is in the 10's of thousands of patients I made laugh before I put them to sleep, and in the hundreds of patients that were on death's door that I helped survive. And in the way I've treated all the people I've come in contact with.

Boz, I've interacted with you respectfully over the years. Mostly agreements. Some disagreements. Not sure what led you to be this small.

Wow. That's really unfortunate and generally uncharacteristic of Boz from what I've seen. You'd think in a community of gamblers, many who do it frequently and some for large stakes that we'd see a bit better emotional regulation from its members hmm?

I have met many of the regulars. Any who come to Buffalo/Niagara Falls have a free built in tour guide.

I hope to be in Vegas this year for spring fling. To meet more of the good people from WoV.

I’m not sure what happened to Boz. It is difficult to be that mean spirited.

Edit. To be clear, Boz’s comment about me is totally fair. I can see someone struggling financially a tad annoyed with all my stock blabber.
But his attack on Wizard and especially his family was frankly, despicable. It’s why I copied the part about me but not the part about Wizard. Which is thankfully now deleted.

Let me say that it is forum precedent to leave personal insults as a way of documenting the reason for a nuke. It was even left up for a while after I read it, as I can take a punch. However, bringing family members of forum members, especially women, is beyond personal insults of forum members and is immediately nuke-worthy and the post not worthy to remain.

I don't wish to defend myself, as Boz actually made some valid points, although in a deplorable way.

However, I've known SOOPOO for years and he is a true gentleman, extremely smart, and very generous. As I recall, he has offered free medical advice to any forum member. I don't recall ever needing any, but he has consulted non-forum-member friends of mine over the phone and never even asked it to count as a favor. I've heard doctors hate to be asked medical advice off the clock, but SOOPOO is a true exception to that. As to bringing up his wealth from time to time, I've found it to only be when it was needed to provide context to a point he was making. In person, he is just a normal guy. You would probably think he lived on a teacher's salary if you saw his spending habits.

The attack on SOOPOO had nothing to do with the venom he harbors against me and have no idea why he threw it in there.

(Only because the whole thing appeared to be a laundry list of grudges, and that last comment was kinda funny)

It's a pity the election betting thread was closed. I found it an interesting challenge trying to stay on the fairway of straight political analysis while not having a post land in the weeds of political opinion. Still, while I don't think it had yet gone off the rails, it was, admittedly, heading down that trajectory.

I agree that it is a shame that I had to close it. However, it would be too hard to police it. Like a mob of jaywalking tourists on the Strip, once one person make a political comment, everybody else does the same, like lemmings.

Typical day at Disneyland:

It can look that way although I think this particular picture is slightly misleading. The angle of the sun shows it to be late afternoon. Also note the people sitting on the curb. I would guess this photo was taken right after a parade--a Halloween parade from the decor--had just ended and the viewers lining Main Street were heading back to the rides all at once.

As for Disney World, I do agree about the weather. When I visited, the humidity felt like it had been cranked up to simulate a balmy summer day in Cambodia.

They should have a Cambodia world there open for the Summer. Sounds perfect.

Actually, I wish Disney had lived long enough to fully create his original vision for Epcot. A privately owned city of the future. Don't know if it would have survived long term, but ultimately Epcot just became another type of entertainment theme park once Walt was dead.

Unfortunately, the humidity doesn't get 'cranked up.' It's always here! On the coasts, you get the sea breeze, and the weather is much more temperate. But Disney is smack dab in the middle of the peninsula, and gets no such relief.

I don't blame you at all. Other than EPCOT I cannot see why an adult would want to go. Yet there are tons of Disney Geeks out there. I watched a few of their YT channels a bit. Amazing how many go back and back. No thanks.

The thing is, what Disney sells is nostalgia. They get you hooked as kids. Then you are compelled to go back as adults for the nostalgia. If you didn't get 'Disneyfied' as a kid, visiting Disney as an adult will be underwhelming.

Anyone who tries to sell off a portion of there potential prize money after week 3 in a $25 NFL pool, is certainly not showing themselves to be wealthy or flaunting.

Touché! I do it for the fun of the discussion. Actually, my main reason for being here is my fascination with what others (APs) do. I rarely post a trip report because I think most would consider my stories downright boring.

I went to Disneyworld exactly once.
You couldn't get me to go again
if it cost me nothing and I got $500.
I hated everything about it. Too many
lines, too many people, way too humid.

You went at the wrong time of year, it sounds like. I always go during the off-season. Decent temps, minimal crowds, 20-30 min wait times max for the rides. Usually it's more like 5-10 minutes.

I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again... EB sounds like one of those people that's only happy when he's miserable...

Been to Disney World about a dozen times when our daughter was growing up. We always went between Thanksgiving and Christmas, no lines and nice weather. It was fun as a family thing, I have to say I enjoyed it. But now, it's not on the list. We’d rather go other places.

I did read a book about getting the best out of a Disney Land or Disney World experience. Kinda took an edgy approach to it as it covered some more scandalous topics, but it was a decent read. Available on Kindle somewhere.

Did the scandalous part involve hiring someone in a wheelchair to be part of your family for the day? I've heard of that tactic.
