"The Chief Rabbinate of Israel (Hebrew: äøáðåú äøàùéú ìéùøàì‬, Ha-Rabanut Ha-Rashit Li-Yisra'el) is recognized by law[1] as the supreme rabbinic and spiritual authority for Judaism in Israel. The Chief Rabbinate Council assists the two chief rabbis, who alternate in its presidency. It has legal and administrative authority to organize religious arrangements for Israel's Jews.

How is that any different than the Cardinal of NY being the supreme leader of Catholicism in NY? Not everyone who lives in Israel is a Jew. The ones that are recognize the Chief Rabbis authority. The ones that don't, he has no authority over. There are places in Israel that only Jews are permitted into, but there are also spots where Jews are prohibited.

I don't know. I'm an atheist
Does the Cardinal of NY hold as much power and influence as the chief Rabbinate
I think the difference in power is massive so yea, there is a difference.
for example
They have the power to determine what people can eat and cant eat
I had close Jewish friends in Baltimore. They told me the whole kosher thing is corrupted and all about money

I am not anti-Jewish. Simply an atheist that is fascinated by religion.
My best friend is Jewish.
but
He's the total opposite of an orthodox Jew.
More of a deadhead that just happens to be Jewish :-)
When somebody doesn't believe me, I could care less. Some get totally bent out of shape when not believed. Weird. I believe very little on all forums

Was just watching the lowlites of the press conference two GOP operatives held yesterday , accusing Mueller of a particularly nasty rape a couple of years ago.

This entire episode is the funniest thing in politics I've seen in years.

The basic gist of it is here:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/jacob-wohl-20-far-right-conspiracy-theorist-gets-moment-spotlight-n929726

(If you don't like NBC pick something else as there are plenty of options)

It's all about a 20 year old guy who purported to start a hedge fund at the age of 16, being the youngest person to do so. Trump has re-tweeted him a couple of times and there are a few pictures of young Mr. Wohl and The Donald. He also gets gigs on discussion panels on TV where he pushes "Trumpinomics".

It also turns out he was banned from the the National Futures Association for life in 2017. The Arizona Corporation Commission also issued him and his cohorts a Cease and Desist order in 2016. It seems he never registered in the State, lied a lot about both his business and possible earnings to customers, and then in the end just screwed them anyway.

You can read the Arizona decision at http://docket.images.azcc.gov/0000173586.pdf

There are 2 twitter feeds that have a lot of information, (and you don't need to have twitter to read them; just click on the link:

The first is by Jane Mayer of the NewYorker.
https://twitter.com/JaneMayerNYer/status/1057371849439502338/photo/1

I don't know who the 2nd is, but he digs up some more dirt.
https://twitter.com/Fraude_1/status/1004795607876362240

While it is rather sad, the incompetence is good for a chuckle.

For hundreds of years, Catholics were not allowed to eat meat on Friday. The Pope changed it. The ArchBishop of NY has the power to effect people's diets. Not to the extent of kosher, but I've seen him allow people to eat cornbeef on a Friday during Lent.
My Jewish friends all insist Israel is welcoming to people of all faiths . I've never been there and take them at their word.

I think they missed the boat on this SNL cold open, seeing as it's election eve. The general public doesn't really know who Abramson or Pirro are, so tough to mock their speech patterns or loss of sponsors. People generally just know they're nasty and biased. So it made it sort of predictable.

I'm wondering if Alec Baldwin was supposed to be on, and his stupid fight/arrest kept him off the air. So they had to change the sketch at the last minute.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Yea but they did a great job of insulting the American Patriot that lost his eye in Afghanistan. Said he looks like a bad Porn Actor. All fun and games when it’s a Republican being ridiculed.

But as soon as I or anyone makes fun of some beast in a pink pu@@y hat, I’m ignorant and insensitive.

The true hatred today toward fellow Americans comes far more often from the left. Take 5 minutes and read the comments on any HuffPost story. Full of hatred toward anyone who doesn’t believe the same as them.

And they should have done a skit on Baldwin, but that would be too close to home. Bunch of leftist babies living in a dream world.

There absolutely is hate on both sides, you guys are just making my point. Many (Not All) Liberals want to think they are the righteous ones and are above the name calling and other acts against fellow citizens. It's just not true with a little basic research.

So the next thing I would say is we are as divided a country as ever. And the first thing most liberals would say and do is blame it on Trump, which is total BS. And my response is we have been since 2000 or 2008. Trump is just continuing the streak, granted in a more outspoken way.

Many libs didn't accept Bush as the true President even though recount after recount showed Bush did win Florida. Even the media accepted he won. Division over the war made it worse.

Many on the right didn't accept Obama as a citizen or worse (Yes including Trump), yet he was. Libs got killed in the 2010 midterms, divided country.

Hillary won the popular vote, Trump the election, divided country.

Anger on both sides that will be there as long as I live unless something tragic happens to unite us. I'll take the division and the American system as it is over that.

And realize some people are just F'n Stupid & Crazy......ON BOTH SIDES

Heading out to pick up a new pair of these for Wednesday. Gonna be some serious Lib whining.😃😜😃

Libs you should get your cartons of crayons and unused coloring books ready to go. Maybe some dehydrated puppies or something that you can liven up with your tears. Inflatable safe spaces and whatever else it is going to take in order to bring you comfort.

I’m with you that it’s not the lock some (Pelosi) and others seem to think or dream it is.

And you are going to see a lot of unhinged libs if it doesn’t happen. Lots of excuses and reasons, but zero credit will be given that Trump and his ideas are more popular than the polls show.

Trump won well within the polling margin of error in 2016. So that part is completely false.

But Trumps ideas are more popular than people (and me) thought they were. That’s the part that shocked me for sure. I’m not shocked anymore, so the Republicans keeping the house wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Quinnipiac just released their final poll of the FL governor's race: Gillum up by 7, 50-43%.

It seems like this is the race that triggers the GOP the most. They can't imagine this unapologetically liberal black man being so popular in a swing state like FL.

I have to agree. Out of all the close races I just can't see this one being good for the state if it goes leftie lib. It will start a downward spiral for Florida. Soon it will have higher taxes, higher welfare percentage, higher Medicaid numbers....... sort of like NY where I live....

And who is the racist here? Yea, I’m calling you out for pushing the racist narrative all the time.

I know Gillum is bad for Florida for one simple reason, he is a lunatic socialist with bad ideas for most Floridians. Plain and simple, he’s a Bernie supporter and clone. He believes only he knows what is best for residents.

I don’t give A F if Gillum is Black, Green or White, his policies suck. The same as Bernie, he’s bad for Americans because of his beliefs, not because he’s a old White dude.

I voted Dem in Florida due to red tide
Its destroying the beach economy in Florida
Rick Scott and the republicans gutted the local EPA

My life wont change if Gillum is elected.

Boz mentioned in an earlier post that if Gillum gets elected, Florida will become like New York with high taxes
Reality check
Gillum gets elected, income will still not be taxed and property taxes will stay at their low levels
and
EPA will get beefed up so we can get rid of Red Tide that republicans could care less that beach economies have been devastated
One thing republicans never get. What is good for the environment is good for business

That was SooPoo about NY but I agree. The “Just give me a billion’ quote from Gillum was telling. You can’t just come up with money like that out of thin air. I get he can’t raise taxes on his own, but his talk is dangerous. And there is a segment of the population jealous and wanting to stick it to anyone with success. And it’s usually those NOT paying their share.

As for the Red Tide, it’s a disaster. Was reading about restaurants in Pass A Grill that lost the entire weekend due to the stench. Sadly I don’t think any politician will fix that problem. But they all say they will. As Trump said, Nelson has never asked him for a dollar. And it’s currently Scott’s responsibility.

The sad thing about your statement, is stealing from others doesn't know any economic level or even need. At least welfare crime might actually represent some actual need once in awhile.

I totally agree with you
Churches and religion need to start paying their own way
The free ride had got to stop
Look at downtown Clearwater
What a sad downtown. Hardly any foot traffic
Its all because of religion. Scientology gets a free ride
Disgusting.
Look at nearby Clearwater Beach, tax paying businesses are thriving and not getting a free ride but supporting the community. Tons of foot traffic
Religion is sucking downtown Clearwater dry.

I'm an atheist. I used to belong to a group of atheist's in Baltimore.
We never demanded a free ride. We met in a building, rented the large room from a tax paying business that paid property taxes.
When somebody doesn't believe me, I could care less. Some get totally bent out of shape when not believed. Weird. I believe very little on all forums

Yup
another person getting a free ride and conservatives are silent
Disgusting

Mormon church has billions

Sick that conservatives insist these wealthy religions get a free ride

The Republicans will maintain control of the Senate, there’s not enough seats up for grabs to make a significant shift. But the Democrats will gain a majority in the House tomorrow.

Not sure what’s more pathetic, you using this as way to push your agenda, or you thinking anyone here would change their opinion based on something that has nothing to do with the election.

But just because of you and your nonsense, I’m Making a decision I was mixed on. I was Debating voting for one Democrat. A local widow of a police officer who died in the line of duty. A good woman running against a good man who is a Republican. But it was tough for me because she is a customer of mine and really is running as a Dem due to how our system in PA works with closed primaries.

But you, Billryan make me realize a vote for a Dem is a vote supporting points of view like yours. Votes for people who make life choices to no longer contribute to society through taxes.

While this may give my general location away, sorry Trish Wertz, I’m voting for Cox based on you choosing the party of Billryan and those who think like him, willing to use anything to push their agenda. The party of blaming a shooting on Trump while ignoring the Congressional softball shooter. The party of a man who walked away from contributing to society to instead take from it.

No proof Trump is getting a free ride. In fact with the stuff Maddow got, it was obvious he pays more than his “fair share”.

But on the religion, absolutely. But I don’t see it changing, even the Dems see it as a losing issue. I don’t like everything the GOP does, but hard to blame it all on them. Neither party has the balls to take the issue up.

Joel, the Scientologists and their like are freeloaders, no doubt about it.

Everytime we brings friends to Florida we take them to Clearwater Beach for a Tropics cruise and some bar hopping. And everytime I have to give them a lesson on the ride in about the scam the Scientologists are. But they love all the Tom Cruise stories and the top 3 floors of the condo building he recently purchased.

Here’s one bright side for the Dems: win or lose tomorrow, starting Wednesday morning we won’t be hearing about that stupid ass “caravan” anymore.

What’s the problem? If it’s in the tax code that having a big loss lets you not have to pay taxes the following year(s), what’s the problem? Hey, if you want to pay more in taxes than is required, go ahead.

When did Scientology receive their tax exempt status?
-it was in was Oct 1993

Who was President in Oct 1993?
- a democrat named Clinton

Who was the head of the IRS in Oct 1993?
- Margret Richardson, who was nominated by Clinton

It really makes me sick that liberals give this wealthy "religion" a free ride
