Not your country as a whole, not your average American, but far, far too many Americans.Quote: RonCI find it offensive when anyone considers the people of our country, as a whole, dumb or deplorable or whatever. That elitist bullshit attitude is part of the problem.
The Americans have been and are being mis-led. Agreed, Clinton and many other candidates were also likely to mislead them too.
But judging on my own impartial, non-elitist standpoint, I'm also offended. Offended by a nation which lacks the ability or judgement to find a few decent candidates and then choose one decent candidate from those to represent them.
When I see Trump supporters say 'At least he is doing what he said he would' I can accept that.
But when those supporters can close their eyes so tight that they cannot acknowledge blatant lies, corruption and dangerous carelessness, then I too am grossly offended. You guys made him King of the World.
Your system is a bit dumb to allow this to happen.
Your education system must have some major failings to allow such blindness.
And yes. There must be a lot of dumb fools among Trump's supporters. Not the average American, but an awful lot of them.
Quote: RonCI disagree. Of course I see the potential for a disaster with the current President but I am also familiar enough to understand the "Swamp" is not easy to drain, so he will likely be unsuccessful on the most controversial fronts. I think a lot of Hillary supporters, lefties, and others are way too worried and a lot of righties are way too overjoyed about what likely will be controversial Presidency but will not lead to the end of the world.
Name a cabinet appointment who isn't (a) Goldman Sachs (b) billionaire or (c) politically connected. Drain the swamp, my ass.
Quote:The biggest impact of a Trump Presidency may be on the Supreme Court. Recent Presidents have mostly gotten a couple of picks each, even with eight year terms. Trump's first pick is a Conservative/Originalist to replace a Conservative/Originalist. Where the difference might come in is if Ginsberg or another liberal leaves and he gets a second appointment. That could swing the court. he could also be a one term President and leave with only one pick and with several older Justices still on the Court.
You say that like it's news. Been a major consideration/concern for many people for years,. Beyond the joke the Republicans made of the process over Garland.
Quote:Americans aren't "dumb"--Trump, who won narrowly, ran on "change" (didn't Obama run on "change", too?) and the people really do want change. Whether they ever get it or not is a whole different story...but make no mistake, most want the country to be a better place. I find it offensive when anyone considers the people of our country, as a whole, dumb or deplorable or whatever. That elitist bullshit attitude is part of the problem.
The first step to fixing a problem is to acknowledge you have one. We are, in fact, dumb. We listened to contradictory statements and know half must be lies, but disregarded them. We put a man with no government experience in office. And gave a man with the thinnest skin ever and an admitted con man the nuclear codes. Dumb, dumb, dumb. We'll be lucky to get past him without big glass craters smoking everywhere.

Hey Orangeman:
The most recent report about the wall I've heard estimates it to cost 21 billion. First mexico was going to pay for it, then americans were going to pay 12 billion, then 15, now 21. Below is basically the effectiveness of the Tramp regimes first month, from the Yemen fiasco, to the travel ban that's been curb stomped, to the wall cost. Hopefully Sessions/Trumps plans for civil forfeiture go just as smoothly. He needs to drop Conway. Every time she opens her mouth she makes the party look worse.
Tramp regime effectiveness so far
McAllister et al - WRT "The Wall":
WRT "The Wall", has anyone seen any threads or articles about using drones to protect the borders of California, Arizona, and New Mexico? I don't think this is a literal Mexico will pay $xxx cash deal - it will probably be a trade-off capturing various IOUs, trade concessions favoring the US, etc.
The actual border length is 1,993 miles. Unfortunately, I've read that drone use and effectivity is not 100% welcomed nor approved. The Predator (pictured below) costs about $40 million (there are other drones costing half as much). But it is appealing to imagine 20 drones (ok, even 40 drones) operated by a dozen or so operators, vs building the $7 billion estimated cost of a 650-mile fence or the $21 billion in this reply. 20 Predators would cost $800 million, but you'd need to factor in operating costs. Another appealing aspect is that the selected drones could be put into action relatively quickly -- a couple of weeks vs the months it would take to build "The Wall"?
Maybe someone with more patience and a more analytical mind can estimate these operating costs for a "droned" wall . . .

Quote: RomesOf everyone I've met, know, asked, and discussed with... Not one person has voted for trump while not being either a moron, or ignorant to most things about him (from personal to political). I'm not calling any specific person specifically anything (good try), but it is rather obvious (not alternatively factual) that people who support trump are either morons, ignorant, or both.
Anyone who thinks a) we won't pay for the wall, and b) that it will actually work are literal examples of morons.
If you support Trump, you are either a complete moron, ignorant, or both, or worse.
Here he is again calling someone MORONS and IGNORANT... but stating that he isn't calling out one specific person... he is just lumping them all together specifically calling out Trump voters or supporters. So lets not support our President in office?! Lets just storm the castle and save the princess and start a new Republic or whatever Government you guys think is best!?
Sure does seem like Romes is calling anyone who voted or supports our President a Moron or Ignorant or Both!?
Romes is pretty funny with this statement though...
"I'm not calling anyone a moron or anything specific but it is rather obvious (not alternatively factual) that people who support trump are either morons, ignorant, or both!"
So basically he is saying that he isn't calling anyone a moron but if you support Trump.... Your a Moron! If your not a Moron your just Ignorant but it is most likely possible that your BOTH!!
As I have already said I did not vote. I never vote. The real morons or ignorant people are the ones who vote and think that voting matters. They think the voting system or the system in general is fair. It isn't! It's all rigged and if you don't know or believe that I would say your the Ignorant person or Moron as Romes likes to call Trump supporters.
I could care less who is President or any other official in office because I know that they are just puppets... a show for the people. The real people with power are the ones behind the scenes pulling the strings. However... most of you Morons need a soap opera to keep you pacified and this is just one of the many that will do,
Quote: beachbumbabsName a cabinet appointment who isn't (a) Goldman Sachs (b) billionaire or (c) politically connected. Drain the swamp, my ass.
I don't like everyone in the cabinet. I am not going to defend it choice by choice. I do think you've set a bar so high that it would be hard for ANY President by adding (c) to this list. How many cabinet appointments of Presidents past have had absolutely no political connection? Perhaps you'll think of some but, if you look deep enough, there is likely at least a small political connection in most cases. Billionaires? I don't find (b) to be a huge problem--most millionaires and billionaires have been successful in business. Why not hire successful people instead of career political folks? I do not like the ties mentioned in (a).
Quote: beachbumbabsYou say that like it's news. Been a major consideration/concern for many people for years,. Beyond the joke the Republicans made of the process over Garland.
I guess that is some kind of insult; it is a discussion and I was disagreeing with the belief you seem to hold that Trump is going to destroy the country. Heck, I think he has helped already on both sides of the aisle. You are fired up and perhaps those millions of women who protested for various reasons (of course, you can't protest for women if you don't believe in abortion...kind of weird...you can disagree on some things as a woman; just not that one) with you will stay politically active and fight for their causes. On the other side, he has rattled the Republicans and perhaps they can figure out where they really want to be and actually articulate a message coherently. It is okay if they all don't want to be the same thing...
Garland was never going to be confirmed. I think everyone knew that.

We listened to a candidate call a huge part of our population "deplorables" and who basically ran as a "more of the same" candidate that many supported not for her greatness but because she was just generally not as bad as Trump. It is a problem that someone who is part of the problem honestly thought she could get away with calling people who voted Democrat for a long time and seemed just fine to her then "deplorable" when they swung their support to another candidate.
I'm sorry you feel everyone is dumb. I know a lot of smart, educated, wealthy people who voted for Trump. A diverse group of people. Some people that I thought would vote for Hillary. They are not dumb and are not deserving of the nasty label you put on them.

At this very moment some liberal rag is writing a story on how this is benefiting the rich so much more than the average American.
10% is 10% as long as you have $1 in a mutual fund. It bothers them so much that the "rich are getting richer" that even this gain that helps everyone with a 401k, IRA, etc is a problem for them.
The envy of the left against successful people is scary.

To be honest, I try to envisage a scenario where he becomes ex-president. And it's not easy to see such a scenario that works any time soon.
Resignation: Hmmm. He's having too much fun. Pence would slide in, but what would become of the rest of the team? Not a great prospect.
Death: Not wishing it on the guy, but still the same as above. Trump slides in, same fascist corrupt team just with modified delivery.
Democrats drive him under some sort of control: I don't see the Dems as organised or powerful.
The more decent Republicans undermine him and reign him in: Turkeys won't vote for Thanksgiving.
He and his team gets caught out and totally banged to rights for some heinous crime: That's possibly why they are steadily neutering the press, judiciary and agencies.
The P155ing video gets out: Hmmmm that would at least be funny.
Impeachment: I just can't see that 2/3 majority in sight.
Dems taking power in mid term elections: The numbers don't nearly stack up.
War - Major War: That would entrench him even more and might be the most popular outcome for him and his chronies. Lovely juicy unchallenged executive powers.
There have to be lots of mental health conditions in play. Real, clinically provable conditions. Sadly he and his cronies would just start mimicking the 'trick cyclist brigade'. Watch out for that. Sure to start soon enough.
Can someone please suggest a hope for the future? Please.

You have proven over and over your knowledge of stocks and the markets. And anyone listening to you has made money off of your advice. But I see the market as a longterm lifetime game. The winners I see are those who put money in month after month, in an up or down market and don't panic. Look at the amount of people who cashed out near the bottom in 07 and missed all the gains.

Bingo. I will SLOWLY be rebalancing to more bonds and less stocks. Trump clearly adds volatility, whether he adds value is still to be determined. I think the stock market is kind of like a poker room if you are a poker pro. You have to pay a vig to the house, but can still reliably make money over time. As far as my political donations, the only national candidate I have ever donated to is an anesthesiologist who is a Congressman from Maryland. I do make donations to state candidates who I actually know. My level has increased under the Obama administration, but it has nothing to do with him.....

If Hillary had some of these issues with her national security team and been praising Putin on top of it in these first couple weeks Republicans would be overwhelmed by all the crosses they need to erect to crucify her properly. Upon further research, one of the main holders of phones to be illuminating those documents was none other that ex-security advisor Michael Flynn.
That's right: A Security Advisor holding a video camera/recorder/transmitter over secret documents when he knew his job was on a knife-edge.
He should have been advising Trump to leave the dining room.
He should have been advising Trump to be discreet.
He should have long advised Trump to stop using an insecure Android phone.
He should not have been a regular contributor to RT and a Dinner Buddy with Putin, but what the heck.
For all we know he could have been recruited by the FSB to ensure that security was as careless as it possibly could be. In which case he did 'a great job'.
OK. Maybe he didn't do what I would have surely done, but the very concept that he could be qualified to 'advise' on security when that's the kind of dumb-ass stunt that he pulled.?
Well it's just criminally insane.
