Neutrino demonstrated several of the reasons why; having conversations with himself to generate views, using one account to post things he wanted to talk about but didn't want to be associated with, keeping topics going by making it look like more than one person against the rest (sockpuppeting; thanks for the add to my vocab. It's been used other ways in past decades, but apt slang in this manner). Other reasons include spamming, trolling, selling stuff without being knocked off the board for it, lots of others.

Sounds like all the reasons to nuke someone, quite honestly. I couldn't associate the handle with any personality, or any specific post, or any impression of what Neutrino is like. So I have no axe to grind. But all of those reasons involve intentional duplicity, and none of it strikes me as benign.

Desires and tendencies are inherent in a person. you don't need a post to have them :)

As for arguing minutiae, you could get that in any law or governemnt career. There is little else involved.

you asked, When did that change? When they realized site membership would drop by 1/3.

If Mike can find a good IP/computer sniffer. Something that logs the device used and pinpoints VPN usage or whatever works best I would be willing to donate for this.

At least make someone have to work harder and buy multiple devices.

Huh? Logging the device used is pretty much impossible. You only get the information that the browser sends.

Browser fingerprinting works surprisingly (scarily) well. You can get around this by using a different browser (I have 3 installed that I use for different things) or randomly changing some settings.

IP address is a horrible way of identifying people, especially in this day and age where people move around with mobile devices.

I'm not an expert on this. I thought each device has a special serial number or something that can be tracked.

Mobile devices generally have device ids that may be sent by some apps. They are not included in a request that a browser sends.

The closest thing on a computer is that your network card has a MAC address, but that is only used locally (within a network) and not sent to the server.

I'm wondering whether this "oh, he can't help it" attitude has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. He's not a child. He's not even intellectually impaired. There's nothing at all subjective about "no sockpuppetry"; the only reason for him to think he could get away with it is if he thought the rules didn't apply to him, and the only reason for him to think that is if it's a belief that's been continually reinforced by breaks like this.

I'm not saying a two-week suspension necessarily isn't enough - certainly it would be massively unfair to increase it now - but the reasoning behind it is irksome.
The trick to poker is learning not to beat yourself up for your mistakes too much, and certainly not too little, but just the right amount.

Speaking of the unemployed, unmotivated and just plain lazy......

.................. FLEASTIFF HAS BEEN BANNED ...................... !!!!!!

There is no need for cheers since it looks like its only going to be a TWO WEEK ban, though it might be more.

Fleastiff has this ancient tower on the floor and was too lazy to turn it off and lift it out of the way while pushing a mop and some soapy water around the floor.
The inevitable happened. Some circuit got shorted and won't lengthen itself.

I may have to junk it but I'm going to go take it to a repairman who might lengthen the circuit on the cheap for me but will probably advise me to junk it.

Actually, it's not the shorted circuit that is the problem. It's the smoke!

It is a little known fact that all electronics actually run on smoke. When you make a boo-boo (like mopping the CPU) water shorts out a circuit which then lets the smoke out. Once the smoke is out, the circuit no longer works, BECAUSE the smoke is no longer there.
You just need to find someone who can put the smoke back in.

'The name (magic smoke) is a running in-joke that started among electrical engineers and technicians. It was more recently adopted by computer programmers. The joke's humor operates via the logical consistency of what is observed, versus knowledge of what is actually occurring. The device was operating until the smoke was released from it, at which point the device ceases to operate. Ergo: the smoke is an essential part of the device's operation, through undetermined ('magical') means.[1] This is an example of the fallacy post hoc ergo propter hoc.'

If things are so bad that you resign, you should not be allowed to return for 6 months or a year. Kind of like banning yourself at a casino. Changing your mind a few days or a week later probably isn't enough time to deal with whatever made you resin rather than just not visit the site.

Lem66 is also permanent. The different admins don't necessarily fill in the table the same way. We tend to leave question marks in the length of ban or return date field if the member is welcome back if he changes his mind, such as in the case of Ahigh and Ace.

Instead of the Fleastiff is banned, I had originally thought of posting: Fleastiff kicked the bucket. That would have made my return a bit more eventful than it merits. Here is the straight dope: I tripped over this bright red bucket while I was moping the floor and I sent a tsunami towards my already ailing computer. Taking it to a nearby repairman, he said something about darkening his doorstep and that he didn't work on museum pieces.

So now I've what a sailor would call a "jury rig" and I'm "back on the air".

Yeah, she turned me down for a date too !

that is insulting that you think that I would even think about asking her for a date. 1. I am married, 2. she is not my type, and 3. there was nothing at all attractive about her personality.

Don't take it personal but

1. So are most guys that ask women like her out
2. She is EVERYBODY'S type
3 people that ask her out usually are not concerned with her personality.

Do NOT take this personal, but if you do not have a sense of humor, please rent one. I was just joshing. REALLY !
Shed not for her the bitter tear Nor give the heart to vain regret Tis but the casket that lies here, The gem that filled it Sparkles yet

I didn't follow the JJ threads but occasionally would check in.

What I saw imo was a bunch of guys vying for position to show who had the most digital testosterone, silly if I were asked.

It doesn't seem to matter much, but I'll take advocate on this one. She is probably like many of us with hopes and dreams and wants and is working to acquire her chosen lifestyle in the best way she knows how?

She probably didn't know when she showed up here that she would have to satisfy a bunch of degenerate gamblers preferences as to looks, occupation and lifestyle choices. If this is where I have to come for final judgement I am screwed.

I thought she was working with what she had pretty well. It looked like she had some legitamate modeling gigs and was attempting to work in her chosen field. I respect that immensely more than being in your parents basement being a internet surf jockey an dining on ebt.

She may not be a member in current good standing but I don't see where she has to get approval from us gamblers. I don't understand what she did to make several of the commentors here despise her. Mike has personal experience and still respectfully declines to demean her, seeing how this is his house maybe we should emulate him a bit, eh?

How pompous to think you should sit in judgement. What is it that you do or have done or are married too that gives you this right? We are on a gambling forum for crying out loud, this isn't some church social, otay?

If you are out there, JJ thanks for the photos and good luck out there. You guys that claim JJ isn't your style or anything would you like to post some photo's of what you decided to spend the rest of your lives with? Is it that JJ just doesn't have enough meat on her bones or is your wife reading wov?
