The most elegant solution I remember seeing for this little annoyance was a site that blocked the most extreme compulsive repeat kooks from everyone but themselves. So, when the obsessive individual signed on yet again with fake account #17 or something, he saw his own lunatic ravings to his deranged little heart's content as if he was actually there and back to doing what he always does, but nobody else did. Basically a universal "ignore" setting instead of constantly playing "whack-a-nut" with the same old stale pistachio again and again. I agree that hijacking happens a lot and is seldom punished. However, it was done in a thriving thread, the hijacking was totally deliberate, and it was onto a topic of a political nature, which everyone should know I have a short fuse for.
Also, as I keep saying, is a three-day suspension really such a big deal? This is just an Internet forum.

I don't have him blocked, but an explanation on why only two weeks instead of the actual rule would be nice.

With all due respect and its not necessarily a bad thing, I think the mods are just being very kind. I believe in 2nd and 3rd chances

Some may not know exactly what a Sockpuppet is. I only assumed what it meant the first time
I seen it used, I was unsure if it was a real term or just a clever posters personal term.

Strawman sockpuppet

The intended effect is to discredit more rational arguments made for the same position.[11] Such sockpuppets behave in a similar manner to internet trolls.
Unless his life was being threatened under his "original" name (possibly more names, some may say once a sockpuppet forever a sockpuppet) . We can rule out that scenario since he was sockpuppetting. His first and 2nd in this thread alone was even replied to by "himself" If you look at other posts from Batman/Neutrino its an ongoing sockpuppet situation. It's bats*it crazy and this make me sick, absolutely sick just sweeping it under the rug....

I already started writing this and now you are going to think this is somehow disrespect for you. Trust me it's not. I''m finding it harder to hit post just because it's you. I don't mean to disrespect to you, the forum , mods or Mike. I'm not saying he should be nuked or am I disagreeing with the decision(do we just pretend it didn't happen? and treat him whit kit gloves? give him a pass on every post he makes no matter the content?). I realize different situations call for different actions. I just think this stuff should be addressed. I'm wondering if there is a better way to prevent this type of thing. But that's my point how can someone with this condition. Not immediately out himself under his new handle to everyone. It took me a while, I even believed he hit greedy goblins on BV for 10k.
People may have avoided playing that game, for that reason alone, costing Mike money.
I generally keep my mouth shut about suspensions but I think in this case both should be nuked. Batman and neutrino posted minutes from each other. He even answered his own question. Autism or not, this does not give him full power to circumvent the rules.
On 2nd thought, I like it the way it is. We have full reign on telling our feelings about batman and neutrino can defend his "friend".

Neutrino has used up his quota of nonsense and is on a very short leash, but since when was ignorance a bannable offense on here? It would be a board of, maybe, 3 people. For about a week. Then one of them would miss a "Jeopardy Las Vegas" question and have to leave.
I could be wrong, but I found value in the discussion he started about ducking IRS taxes: for other people reading it, not so much in his unpleasant POV, though that was enlightening, but in the responses it generated. Same thing with his (IMO unethical) defense of ratholing at poker; I appreciated the answers from people on here I think are good and experienced players and their thoughts on it. And other comments he's made; he brings up ethical questions through his POV (and I'm going to pass on a characterization of them, that's up to each member on their own)which often violate both common sense and common social codes, forcing a re-examination of them that can be illuminating.
He messed up, and fessed up. He's going to demonstrate he's learned from it when he returns, or he'll be gone. And he may not return as it is.

Generally speaking, it's one account/person. Neutrino demonstrated several of the reasons why; having conversations with himself to generate views, using one account to post things he wanted to talk about but didn't want to be associated with, keeping topics going by making it look like more than one person against the rest (sockpuppeting; thanks for the add to my vocab. It's been used other ways in past decades, but apt slang in this manner). Other reasons include spamming, trolling, selling stuff without being knocked off the board for it, lots of others.
Neutrino also had the mistaken impression that a lot of people have duplicate accounts. Not true; when found, they are closed. If the intent on opening them is malicious or duplicitous, that person gets all their accounts closed, not just the dupe. Sometimes very difficult to tell what's going on; after all, it's the Internet. Could be family members, roommates, all kinds of stuff.
As to truth-telling.....well, if he told lies, he wasn't the first or last on here. We all judge veracity with every post, and every person.
