in one case a poster in good standing is compared to a convicted troll, and the other putting the word "maybe" in there...........

Academically, I'm much more interested in process than in policy. I think that's the source of much of my frustration with the Big O. His administration takes the opposite view, and does so in a terribly ineffective way. I'm also a moderate, which makes it difficult to engage in discourse without winding up fighting with people on both ideological extremes.

Yes, with some notable exceptions like Julius Caesar's own writtings, and Procopious's chronicles of Justinian in real time. However, competent historians look for primary sources. Any writings of the era, naturally, but also artifacts, art and whatever else the anhtropologists and archeologists, literally, dig up.

Sometimes even so their stories get told. If you can stomach it, I recommend reading Inferno by Max Hastings. It's a history of people during WWII, drawn from letters, diaries and other primary documents like that. I warn you, though, it contains many and very long descriptions of cruel, inhuman, barbaric and unspeakable acts such as death, torture, war, wanton cruelty, rape, starvation, disease, etc.

reminds me of that story where someone helps a snake in exchange for the snake to repay the kindness back and be nice. after the person was done helping the snake. I was actually on vacation in Vegas for most of my ban and didn't even realize it til the end.
B9 called me a hypocrite in one thread. He couldn't back it up with evidence. I got mad and called him a lowlife liar. I got banned for 7 days. I can understand why. I'm not mad.
After my 7 day suspension I was prepared to come back and flag all of his posts attacking me (he had started referring to me as "LL" for lowlife liar), but he had been nuked by that time so it saved me the trouble...
I have no time for "trolls" so if he returns I will avoid falling for the trap of engaging with him and hopefully the board will be a more civil place.

Personally I actually don't have issues with him showing up but rules are rules. With all that anger that he sometimes resonate (his tilt thread) he does have his noob/amateurish insights into the game of baccarat. His huge draw downs coupled with his rants are very useful/educational. Better to learn at someone's expense than your own.

No need to be sorry. Sooner or later he is going to deteriorate as before. Just a matter of when.
