Quote: sodawaterThe guy posted a negative-progression betting system as his first post. The forum rules say keep betting systems in the betting systems forum. Not only that, but then he reacts negatively and calls the people who took the time to tell him why he is wrong "pricks." If it were up to me, I'd ban him for life. What are the chances this type of poster becomes a valuable contributor? Next to none.
The guy joins the forum, asks an unpopular question, gets the all too common WOV welcome of ridicule and criticism and gets suspended for his reaction. I can cite examples of people being called vile names on this forum with no consequences because the offender was "provoked."
Before I continue, I want to make it clear that I fully understand that this is not my site, I have no say in how it is run, nor should I, and it is not my place to question it's policies. That doesn't or shouldn't stop me from having opinions.
No one could possibly know the caliber of contributor Tim could become until he is given a chance by making more posts. The same chance that most of us have been afforded. What would you do in this situation if you were a moderator? Keep in mind that this happened right here.
A new member joins the forum and posts about a betting system. He uses up his allotted number of posts as a new member, still posting about the betting system, and has a waiting period before being able to begin posting again. Instead of waiting, he creates a new account two days later and continues to post about the betting system. He even quotes one screen name while using the other. He is now a highly respected member of this forum by most members.

Maybe he had a come-to-Jesus moment by being suspended for a while. This new guy is not banned. And current offender is a new guy, I'm sure that made a difference to Michael.
respected member? Or court jester? Every King/wizard needs one, perhaps the Wizard felt one was enough and he has learned his lesson.Quote: 1BB

No court jester and very respected.
The way I understand the Wizard, application of rules/sanctions is not uncorrelated with other elements: the kind of crap you've been posting, the history leading to the offender uttering profanities and/or insults, the fact that if you are new to the forum you'd better be more humble, etc.Quote: 1BBThe guy joins the forum, asks an unpopular question, gets the all too common WOV welcome of ridicule and criticism and gets suspended for his reaction. I guess I may have been thinking of it in the derogatory historical context, prior to them replacing the role of the fool. Sometimes they are referred to as servants and treated like pets, mascots and simply served to amuse their master. When they went over board, they sometimes got whipped, If only that was the case here on this forum;) If I ever find out who you were talking about, I will always picture this when they are refereed to..... https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ5WTvp1dqBFsoZnNQDgDYz9A_UtChEZDzrmM4N2bTR57KV7B9lQuote: 1BBNo court jester and very respected.
Quote: Buzzarda 5 day suspension is NOT the death penalty. Get over it. Tim will most likely.
I feel kind of left out since I haven't been suspended, as a matter of fact. And, no, a self-suspension wouldnt cut it [g]
In some circles I am considered "someone who doesn't know what he sounds like" when I lose my temper. On the other hand, I seem to have learned to cool it when it comes to playing that out on a keyboard. Maybe I type too slow [g]
Why, I have even had people like beachbumbabs take me serious !
Quote: BuzzardAlways a good thing to remember that when you type something, that's all the reader has to judge you by. Not a twinkle in your eye or a smile in your voice.

Yeah, Buzz, it took me a few posts. Then again, your style is to say something so mean in such an outrageous way that no sane person would think you were serious, but as you say, no twinkle, no tone of voice to know you're doing Gruff Uncle Chaz. I think that's a common problem on here; all kinds of things are inferred from phrasing and context. Certainly makes it more "interesting". lol....

I don't work on a contingency Buzzard and the check never arrived in the mail lol
He didn’t want to go to jail. But Aceofspades told him, "Don’t worry. You’ll never have to go to jail with all that money.”
And Aceofspades was right. When my buddy was sent to prison, he didn’t have a dime.

Trolling too?
Aren't the circumstances of a hacked account different? I mean, sure, he should have asked you what to do and didn't. But inquiring minds want to know if those assertions can be answered.

a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people !
Does not the reader have a responsibility to consider opposing viewpoints ?

It would still be a nuke, even for just multiple accounts.

Buzz do you root for the Broncos, having lived in Colorado for quite some time now? Or have you been abstaining from the NFL since the little horsies were ripped away from your hometown in 1983?
I actually knew the young lady who rode the white horse around the stadium after each Colt touchdown. Died in a car accident at age 22.
Proving , as I myself now do, that only the good die young !
First NFL team to have cheerleader too !
Quote: BuzzardAre you making reference to the Indianapolis Irsayholes ? Did not even have the common decency to change the name from COLTS ?
Yes, that is exactly to what I was referring.
So answer the question, do you root for the Broncos or not? I don't care either way, just curious.

EJRainmaker is hereby banished for all eternity for the following post:
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/sports/16692-jan-22-nhl/#post317398
Jufo81 is banned for thirty days (30) for a number of posts in one thread, including the following:
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/blackjack/16677-can-a-set-win-goal-affect-strategy/2/#post317400
Quote: BizzyB in response to Jufo81. I left this open for the ploppies, and you are king.
And what Jufo81 was arguing was valid for a special case and gave info to back that up, which BizzyB immediately dismissed. When reaching a win goal had some special value for the player. Generally sure it's wrong if your goal is to maximize money and nothing else, but the title of the thread was: "Can a set win goal affect strategy?"
An extreme example I just made up: If you get shot in the head when you go broke on a ten unit bankroll, but get set free when you win ten or more units, you don't double down 11 when you are nine units up.
Maybe Jufo81 should have used this example earlier when trying to explain to this to BizzyB.
That was my impression of the whole thing as well. I thought they both earned a time out by the end, and was surprised it was only one. Guess everyone sees things a little differently than somebody else.

And I smiled at his most offensive post! lol And also Jufo has been a forum member for 3.5 years with 300+ posts, and his first suspension should be 30 days? Obviously most of us thought most of the stuff wasn't bad enough to hit the flag button, except maybe BizzyB himself.
My reading comprehension was called "shit" in a thread last year, and there was no suspension over that one. And I flagged god knows how many posts from that guy; I don't think I've flagged a post since, tbh. I'm glad he really hasn't been back since something must clicked with him, so he didn't have to immediately dismiss our correct statements because somehow he knew something was different.
Quote: tringlomaneI think you're about 27 days too harsh on that suspension for that first offense. Yes, first offense!! Until the last post, I was thinking BizzyB should have been the one closer to being suspended in that thread.
If you're going to complain about the lack of punishment for BizzyB this time, why not question the failure of the Martingale rule in the past?
Member | Suspended on | Number Days | Reason |
---|---|---|---|

BizzyB | 11/28/13 | 3 | Personal Insult |

I don't doubt he thoroughly deserves his punishment, at the same time, I thoroughly enjoyed this:
Quote: Jufo81[/img]
Without going into too much detail, (PM Confidentiality) both the length of Jufo81's Suspension and BizzyB's non-suspension have been addressed to me, via PM, by a non-Administrator who shall remain anonymous.
Compelling and lengthy arguments were made to the extent that the length of Jufo81's Suspension was too harsh and non-compelling arguments were made to the extent that BizzyB should also have been Suspended.
Therefore, I am reducing the length of Jufo81's Suspension from thirty (30) days to three (3) days, as a good case was made by someone anonymous for him being trolled/barbed by BizzyB. I do find that BizzyB committed trolling and personal insult, (as mentioned, I would have separated them in that thread had it not been for the picture, and declared, "Equal fault") but not to a level that necessitates a ban.
Therefore, Jufo81 shall be back in two days and BizzyB, who gets off really light with a Non-Suspension, especially given his posting history, can consider himself on a VERY short leash, especially as relates trolling.
When I say a VERY short leash, I mean that if BizzyB gets Suspended for anything this calendar year, he will enjoy the thirty day Suspension originally meted out to Jufo81, especially since I inadvertently didn't Martingale his last Suspension, so this is two essentially free passes now.
Quote: Mission146TournamentKing is also scheduled to be unbanned today, which I can do anytime today, so I choose 23:59 EST.
Isn't WoV time officially Pacific? *coughs*
And glad you reconsidered about jufo.
