I think that is the Evenbob exception to the name calling rule. Basically, metaphor and similes are OK somehow, so are indirect comparisons.
"Only a total dipshit would agree with you" is somehow OK, but "you are a total dipshit" is not. Of course, most of us think these mean the same thing...

People have gotten away with far worse while the suspensions of others have left some of us scratching our heads. The contributors to that particular thread are very passionate and spirited and some leeway may be considered.
The person who made the comment doesn't seem to have a history of insults or name calling and could argue that he never directly said "you are a moronic conservatard" to anyone.
Just one person's take. Perhaps one of our gendarmes could weigh in.

I often receive PM's pertaining to posts that people believe to be in violation of the Rules, and sometimes I have reasons for not Suspending based on the post, and other times, I just genuinely miss the post. I read every thread, but it happens, and sometimes I read faster than other times and might miss something.
Either way, if there is a statement that someone believes to be in violation, and I disagree, I can assure that you will receive a return PM specifically stating the reason(s) for my lack of action.

It is about keeping an adult tone of conversation and not letting the board become what usenet became. Myself a d others stay here because this board has good rules and good members. Good members don't read post after post of name calling.

I understand that. I'm not complaining about the rules. I'm saying the person that sends the Wiz a note saying "AZDuffman just called me stupid" is lame. I'm all for the rules and keeping it adult, but the ones "offended" are less adult a lot of the time.

I'm sorry, but Ahigh issued a challenge to ZCore. ZCore made an inappropriate comment comparing Ahigh's math skills to those of a child, NOT HIS PHYSICAL PROWESS or qualities. If that offends Ahigh's "masculinity" then it's Ahigh who needs to grow a skin.
Ahigh escalated by using a veiled threat: 'you showing up for the meeting big man'?
ZCore's response, while sarcastic, was not outside of the bounds of anything else said. I think that Ahigh was issuing the threat here, not ZCore, and I believe you banned the wrong person.
I feel both need a suspension, or no suspension at all.

It looks like Ahigh is suspended as well though it hasn't be publicized as to how long.
By all accounts, Ahigh is a nice and affable guy in person. Online, however, it's all gotten a little bit out of hand.
I think the Wizard holds his most frequent posters to higher standards, and I'm good with that.

It is my humble opinion that Ahigh's contribution to the site has been negative for most of his tenure. Not that there can't be intelligent discussion about dice influencing, but his acerbic, overly-confrontational personality combined with his translucent skin is really a bad combination, and any good he brings is cancelled out and then some by the bad.

Pity he let the haters get under his skin rather than simply blocking them. So he let the haters "win." It was apparent that Zcore was going to relentlessly goad him into a confrontation with the expected results. Like him or not, Aaron is a stand up guy and was not going to back down.

were many times he had 35-40 posts a day, or more.
He was spending hours a day here, trouble was

Unfortunately, the warning would have only delayed the inevitable. On this site, a thin skin is going to bite you in the arse. Some people are pretty good at getting under your skin if you let them. And once they know they can get a reaction, they will keep poking at you. Your only chance is to hope they get suspended before you blow your cool

Well, this could create some difficulty in coordinating the WoVCon activities by posts or PMs. I do have phone numbers for Nareed and rdw4potus from last year, but I don't have outside-the-forum contacts for any of the other expected attendees.
Maybe we can just ask the Wizard to relay messages to/from the folks who have been banned. ;-)

Or it could be like back in H.S. where if you were suspended from school you were likewise banned from extracurricular activities that fell within the suspension time-frame? If you were suspended the day of prom too bad.
