As far as that the suspended cannot speak during their suspensions, this has always been brought up in the context of that we should wait until the member returns, before we comment on his content or actions. A nuked member is never returning, so asking us to not insult him or comment on his past posts at WOV would be the same I think as asking us not to talk about him at all ever, and it is specifically allowed to quote anything a past nuked member has said at the forum - it is just not okay to import to the forum anything new a nuked member has said outside the WOV because If we ban somebody it means we don't want to hear from them any longer.

I think the logical conclusion is that permanently banned members become akin to non-forum members, with no rights or privileges to cause any member in good standing to be suspended for commentary directed at them, so long as it isn't a means to slip in anything new they might have said somewhere. To not allow insults against permanently banned members "because they are suspended" would lead to the absurd result of not being able to speak about or comment about permanently banned members, or their past WOV content, period.

While you raise valid arguments (which I do not agree with), I decline to preapprove what may be a rule violation.

My valid counterargument is that it appears you wish to lambaste spammers en masse. It is conceivable to me that there may be a forum member (in good standing) with a female family member who is dubiously employed in digital marketing who might be insulted. Doxxing the entire forum, and their families, in effort to prove the negative would also appear to be a rules violation.

I am crunchy, good with ketchup, and disinclined to meddle at this time.

That's like the 20th time you have mentioned the CTR thing and it has been discussed why I did and said that I even explained to you VIA Private message. It's obvious to anyone I knew/know what a CTR is. I have even discussed CTRS before that post you are referring to. I know it's all you think you got so that's why you keep bringing it up.

Since you love crying to the Wizard and demanding somome to produce quotes where you said somthing, I am now going to ask you to do the same thing.

I agree with Gordon that Nuked members are not an open target for insults and that we should not badmouth them here.
I did previously quote, the quote of Wizard where he seemed to suggest otherwise,(It took some finding) and MDawg has seized on that. but that was a long time ago.
Why would we want to purposely insult ex-members here, anyway? Would it not be a form of bullying to use this forum as a soapbox or bully pulpit.
Rule 12 reminds us that we are expected to behave like ladies and gentlemen.

This used to be a cool friendly place. We used to have yearly football contests and members would meet other members for food eating contests in Vegas. That's how I met the Wizard and other friendly members

I have to disagree on the cause and effect. The ‘downhill’ part to me is really just management’s decision to separate a lot of the interesting things we used to talk about to DT. Leaving less interesting things to talk about here.

Looking at the recent threads, there are a few about different slot machine opportunities, there is mine about the 10 point betting opportunity. There has been one about some improved BJ counting technique. There is the EB troll thread on beating roulette every day, multiple times a day, for years on end. You may not believe the MDawg winning story, but at least his tales are interesting. And you are as always free to bring his claims into question. You are also free to just read the other threads and never read another MDawg thread or post.

Many others have said the same thing.

I saw a series of YouTube videos about a slot player who was kicked out (indefinitely suspended) from a casino for video recording his slot play on an Elvira slot machine, OMG, LOL! A few weeks passed and he called up Security at the casino and asked where the rejection letter was. They said they'd get right on it. So when the letter comes it gives two reasons: recording video in the casino and player's card violations. He didn't really register what the player's card violation was but he figured it had to do with him winning a jackpot while using his mom's free play weeks before. During this, he was kicked out of another casino in another state for recording his video slot play. This was in the Midwest by an unsavory slot player who had terrible language and slot habits. The casino copied a photo of him from the guy's Facebook page and put it on the rejection letter.

Well, the fact is... we have "lost" members in part due to MDawg. We have all but lost a very valuable member of this forum directly related to MDawg. That person said that I could quote them, but I'm not going to, there's really no need.

MDawg has caused many problems and tons of extra work for the moderators and the Wizard. It seems as if MD has caused division and strife among the mods and the Wizard.

Admittedly, I'm no angel myself, but at least I have contributed much more to the forum and its members than just some suspect stories.

I do believe MDdawg has been a net negative to the forum overall. Come to think of it, he has even been a net negative financially, to its members. Mike +500 DarkOZ -$2,000 or was it $3,000?

Inspired by Mdawg, I wonder How much Marcus Clark has lost playing Baccarat at this point? Or was he just a total fake sockpuppet of someome?

It’s not hard to see that WoV isn’t anywhere near the same site it used to be. We have a dice setting thread, a “professional” betting streaks on roulette that wins 80% and a guy who beats baccarat for millions for years on end. I miss the days of math and now we are stuck with fictional stories. 🤷‍♂️

We've lost people due to advantage play being discussed in a fashion that certain advantage players didn't like. People come and people go. I didn't post here whatsoever between NFL Seasons, which really wasn't anything deliberate, I just didn't have much cause to check the Forums very often and would mostly only have been posting to pimp my articles.

Anyway, I think there have been two separate great AP exoduses, with that one coming even despite an actual Forum Administrator attempting to quash a line of conversation; a line of conversation, I might add, that was patently about GAMBLING!!!

With that, SOOPOO points out that directing non-gambling posts to be made more often at DT, and the banning of a few specific subjects, might not have been great for overall traffic at this forum. While I agree with his take vis-a-vis the traffic, I don't necessarily think that traffic is what makes a good gambling forum, not by itself, anyway. What's the point of having a gambling forum where more than 50% of the active topics/posts are not about gambling? It's better that people visit the Forum and the first thing they see are gambling-related subjects; I also think it's better that certain subjects be restricted so that you don't have gambling threads getting hijacked by non-gambling related topics. I always hated punishing thread hijacking, and almost never did it unless it was blatant and malicious, because my tendency was to see it as conversations just following a natural course.

Ultimately, people leave if there's gambling talk they don't like; people leave because of x poster or y poster and people sometimes just leave for other reasons. There IS a block button, so if you don't want to read MDawg's posts, (not directed at you, personally) then just don't read MDawg's posts. I don't end up reading many of MDawg's posts, despite me not having him blocked (and simply having no reason to block him) because I just organically don't have interest in the majority of the threads in which he finds himself.

I also think the natural decline of Forums as a conversational medium, mostly due to sites like Facebook, Twitter and Reddit, should not be ignored. I'm not saying that it's the main cause of any declines in traffic, but it certainly is a cause.

With all of that, what could you really do differently? I guess you could lift the restrictions on certain non-gambling topics, but I really don't like that idea as it is more important (to me) that the Forum contain good and easy to find gambling discussion than simply be active.

As far as doing things differently vis-a-vis who should or shouldn't be banned; that's above my pay grade and is not a topic that I think it is for me to comment upon. I would say that there are a few people who I would give another chance, but keep on a short leash, if those people wanted to return, but I'm not going to name them.

There has often been a dice setting thread. It's just more apparent because there aren't as many active threads as was once the case. Same thing with Roulette. Call it a method, a system or magic...there has often been at least one such thread. I used to read every thread, every post, so I feel like I would know.

Either way, at least those things are related to gambling.

I would imagine the zero tolerance insult policy turned alot of people off.
I'm used to giving small snide remarks on other forums and probably most people as well.
(And have been suspended for going over the line.)

What one of my tech forums did was institute a non-troll/bad behavior rule on tech related sub-forums like hard ware, soft ware, even gardening and automotive help, etc.

So something similar to this forums no insult rule.
But you can still say "are you stupid for recommending this for that purpose?" without being suspended as long as you offer an alternative.
Ie: constructive comment and not just a pure shot at the poster

But in the off topic sub forums, it was more relaxed and people can let off a little steam and joke around without walking/tiptoeing on glass. (I think that's the correct phrase?)

This forum is odd.... of all the internet fora I've been a part of in the last 20-ish years, this one, for some reason, is probably the most interpersonal-drama-prone one of them all. I don't know what it is... if it's the rule structure, the mod enforcement, or just the kind of people that post here.

Or maybe this is normal and I've otherwise just been a part of boring fora for the last 20 years.

This forum is odd.... of all the internet fora I've been a part of in the last 20-ish years, this one, for some reason, is probably the most interpersonal-drama-prone one of them all. I don't know what it is... if it's the rule structure, the mod enforcement, or just the kind of people that post here.

Or maybe this is normal and I've otherwise just been a part of boring fora for the last 20 years.

I expect it is a combination of the things discussed, the personalities of those drawn to discuss them, and the rule structure adopted to minimize reduce bloodshed.

Of course there's been a big decline in membership across many forums because of all the social media platforms, I myself pointed that out long ago. I wasn't talking about membership as a whole, I was talking about individuals who left/participate less/felt the negative mood change, in part because of MD.

i don't honestly know. It looks as if it is the first 22 characters, but if the 22nd character is in the middle of a word, it omits that word.

This was either Karen genuinely returning and seeking forgiveness. That would have been down to Wizard.

It was another mischiefmaker: An imposter, trying to join under Karen's name.

The KarenNathan that we know committed multiple bannable offenses. If Wizard ever chooses to let her return, that will be his prerogative. He did let her return to DT, but she has restricted posting rights there, for good reason.

That vote is of no consequence.

She is on another gambling site that I'm on but she very seldom posts anything because she gets totally ignored. She knows nothing about gambling so she has nothing to say and everybody knows who and what she is so nobody feeds her.

I think the logical conclusion is that permanently banned members become akin to non-forum members, with no rights or privileges to cause any member in good standing to be suspended for commentary directed at them, so long as it isn't a means to slip in anything new they might have said somewhere. To not allow insults against permanently banned members "because they are suspended" would lead to the absurd result of not being able to speak about or comment about permanently banned members, or their past WOV content, period.

While you raise valid arguments (which I do not agree with), I decline to preapprove what may be a rule violation.

My valid counterargument is that it appears you wish to lambaste spammers en masse. It is conceivable to me that there may be a forum member (in good standing) with a female family member who is dubiously employed in digital marketing who might be insulted. Doxxing the entire forum, and their families, in effort to prove the negative would also appear to be a rules violation.

I am crunchy, good with ketchup, and disinclined to meddle at this time.

I did previously quote, the quote of Wizard where he seemed to suggest otherwise,(It took some finding) and MDawg has seized on that. but that was a long time ago.
Why would we want to purposely insult ex-members here, anyway? Would it not be a form of bullying to use this forum as a soapbox or bully pulpit.
Rule 12 reminds us that we are expected to behave like ladies and gentlemen.

I note that the Wizard weighed in, without any analysis other than to state that the new ruling might be contrary to precedent, that it is not okay to insult nuked WOV members.

Anyway, it's clear that my analysis was based on at least something, while as to any counterargument....
