If my vote has any extra weight, Mission's resignation was directly related to incidents involving my family and "person of interest #1".
One could post up about how they beat kids and steal from Charities and I'm fairly certain we would get the good old Mission thank you.Quote: mcallister3200Mission abuses the thank you button.

Then how is this not a personal insult?

Didn't Mission go off on a crazy, angry, drunken tirade full of expletives about a year ago, where he threatened to kill people? That got him demoted. I don't think we need someone like that in charge...just my 2 cents
It may be nice to overwhelmingly be nominated, but I can't imagine why you would dare want the headache again? I have a feeling you already have enough distractions in life?Quote: Mission146

I don’t want him banned for that at all whatsoever.

It's only an insult if there is a complaint these days

I can tell you that complaints influence me very little. They might direct me to a post, but that's the extent of it.Quote: darkozIt's only an insult if there is a complaint these days

This is either violating privacy or spreading lies. I believe Mission's denial, so we'll go with the latter. Seven days.

He’s talking about what I said to Shrek at DT. I’m willing to stipulate he just misremembered, if it matters.
It wasn’t a threat because I literally challenged Shrek to a fight. I told him to ask for my address so he could come get it anytime he wants. I never said I was going after him.
Also, I don’t remember even seeing him over there lately and no longer have any real problem with him.
In general, if someone told me I had no chance at a promotion, I would feel insulted. The way I act is I put myself in the victims shoes and ask myself how I would feel. Being a truthful statement is not a good defense.
Pressing charges does matter with me. About half of my suspensions would not have happened without them.
Quote: WizardOkay, I lowered the sentence of mwalz9 to three days. The seven days was because of priors in April and May. However, I guess that was long enough in the past to not factor into the sentence.

Which results in an unfair playing field. Can you imagine if NFL refs took into consideration a players complaints. In all seriousness, you suspended a member because someone else complained to you about pot roast.

They take the coach’s complaints into consideration in certain situations; it’s called the Challenge Rule.
When I was an Admin, I made it clear that I was not going to read the politics threads often, that way, nobody could argue that I was being biased against people who disagreed with me. As a result, the only way (usually) to get me to take action in those threads was to PM me, otherwise, I’d have never known about the infraction.

that explains Coach Belly. What about the rest of us mere players?

There are coach's challenges in the NFL (and other pro sports):

*eta: Mission beat me to it.*
For the record, I wasn't aware that this thread was going to be created or that I would be involved in any polling options. The question of my becoming a Moderator again, full disclosure, has been brought up in the past---but I didn't know that this thread was going to be created.
To be clear, I'm not terribly concerned if I am made an Administrator again, or not. It would seem that some people think that I did a good job in that role, and even when I did resign, many of them did not wish for me to do so. In any event, that was over three years ago.
As a result of this poll (I assume) I will state that I have been asked to become an Administrator again---and I conditionally accept.
My condition is that not a single Member in good standing, with a Join Date on or before 1/1/2020, raises an objection in this thread within the next seven (7) days. If even a single Member objects to my being an Administrator during this time, then I will not do it. I do not wish to be an Administrator again unless the opinions of active Members are either unanimously in favor and/or unopposed.
There will be a few things I will do differently if I am Administrator again, which are as follows:
1.) I will not talk to anyone from this Forum outside of these Forums, with exception to two people who have become close personal friends to whom I speak (via text or call) almost every single day. One is currently my best friend IRL, at this point, and the other is someone who I regularly advise on AP-Related matters.
In both cases, neither of them post here very often.
2.) In order to facilitate #1, I do have ongoing business with two different people from this Forum, which I will conclude as quickly as possible.
3.) An exception to #1 is anything that I have to do to handle the payouts for the WoV NFL Picks Game.
4.) Another exception to #1 is Facebook and any interviews that I do with people for the purpose of articles.
5.) I will not socially meet anyone outside of the Forums (except those covered by #1) for any reason.
6.) I will not meet up with anyone in a casino (other than those covered by #1) for any reason.
7.) I will not attend any WoV meetups of any kind.
That should prevent any future perceptions of bias in terms of my moderation. In general, I'm also much less inclined to meet people than I used to be, so this will not have a negative effect on me whatsoever.
Quote: WizardThank you for your interest, Mission. For the record, I do not request those conditions and happy to give you a new beginning. It should be noted that I see forum members socially often. I do my best to avoid favoritism, but if it still exists, so be it. If anything, I think I'm harder on those I know personally, to avoid a perception of favoritism. BBB also has many friends on the forum and I never had a problem with that.
You're welcome!
That may be, but the events that started the ball rolling to my original resignation had to do with (correctly) applying the rules as they related to a known person with whom I had business. There was also a great amount of (incorrect) speculation that I had dealings with this person that involved other Forum Members. I had no knowledge whatsoever of his dealings with other people, at least, not any of the ones that were relevant to the complaints.
Therefore, if I don't talk to anyone outside of the Forums, we will avoid any possibility of a similar incident.

I don't know. I think being effectively obligated to visit the Forum every day would help keep my head in the game so I can get my writing (and other profitable gambling-related things) done. I'm not going to lie; I could probably use a little bit of structure.

If we are going to nominate folks...I nominate DRich. He is retiring right? He would make for a great moderator.
It will be nice to have Mission's name green again. It was weird when his name went from green to blue a few years back.
And he runs the NFL Picks contest and puts his own money in to make it +EV for everyone else. And then he lays down by doing a very sorry job of making picks. I mean, what a guy!
I dislike that he is vowing to never go to WOV Spring Flings or any other get-togethers. But If I should ever meet him, I'll guarantee him some of those free beers that he deserves. I'll leave the "naked cheerleaders" to some of you other men about town.
Is it actually a paid position?

I don't think#7 is necessary. Those meetups don't result in any real cozy cozy type of situation in my experience.

Quote: FinsRuleIs it actually a paid position?
It is an unpaid position. It's a thankless job where every grievance leaves at least one party disgruntled with you. The main benefit is you have a hand at making the forum a better place. Of course, it's a lot easier to sit comfortably at home and complain.
Quote: FinsRuleI asked this question years ago and never got an answer. I assume this is an unpaid position. Why would anyone want it? It’s a lot of work and it’s almost completely thankless.
Is it actually a paid position?
I think that the rules make the Forum better, so my goal when I was an Administrator before was to try to help make the Forum better. It is unpaid.
Rules without any enforcement are nothing more than suggestions.

I can be very polite when I choose to be, but I don’t think I’m the nicest or most polite person here. I have an intellectual arrogance streak a mile long, but people who genuinely ask questions and are willing to accept math will not usually see it.
My picks are awesome. Variance has simply not been on my side. Lol. JK
I’m afraid that I don’t drink alcohol anymore, but if we meet (which means I am not an Admin) I do like Dr. Pepper, on occasion.

Quote: Mission146What makes it a personal insult?
1. You have promoted betting systems in your posts.
2. You are the “#1 Fan” of a frequently Suspended poster.
3. You have a much longer Suspension record than many others in a much shorter period of time.
Far from an insult, it’s a statement of fact based exclusively on your postings.
Please do not spread a rumor or assume that I have a betting system.
I do not. I simply report the type of bets were made and if they won or they lost and some of the reasons why I bet what I did.
I do not have a system and I do not have any mechanical type of betting system and I'm not selling anything thank you.

I doubt that anyone with the ability to suspend a user wants any user to commit a gross breach of community standards making suspension necessary and appropriate.

Why would I want to suspend you?
The worst I might ask you to do is to try to limit your tags to one post per page. They’re longer than the rest of your post, fairly often.
Thanks for the compliments, by the way.

I'm not sure that anyone has played pinochle, but we get a good no-limit poker game going and the pots can get big. and you forgot about the alcohol.
FYI I think 7 is a dumb thing to exclude yourself from. I hope if Mike allows him to be a MOD he will require him to attend once every few years.

It really doesn't matter. I did the Nuggets eating Challenge and I helped organize WoV East/Midwest once. Other than those two things, I haven't attended any group meetups in the first place. It's a shame that I will not get to lose whatever money I should happen to buy-in for at poker to you, I know. It wouldn't matter even if I was there, actually, because I'm too smart to ever play poker against you. Both of these meetups were also six or more years ago.
I also don't, "Get a little crazy anymore," because I don't drink. If DarkOz lasted twenty minutes, then I would probably be there for fifteen. I'm the last one to get to a gathering and the first to leave these days, assuming I even make it there at all. I'll usually just duck going at all and hope nobody notices and texts me.
Anyway, I promise nobody is missing anything with me not being there.
All you have to do is say, "I object," no need to give a reason why.
If you would like to do it, please do me the favor of objecting quickly. It would save me time as I would have no reason to follow this thread anymore.

Well that's true.
I don't play poker and I don't drink so I personally didn't miss anything. But my real reason for leaving and missing dinner was pressure from my family, particularly the grandkids. They saw it as an adult party and wanted to split.
If anyone wants to know why they tagged along it's actually me that tagged along.
I didn't actually plan on going last spring fling. I didn't even mention it to family. Then my daughter says she is taking the grandkids to the music awards being held in Vegas. Did I want to join them in Vegas.
I'm like only if it's the same weekend as the WOV spring fling.
What were the odds, they happened to be the same weekend.
