Where’s the stats to prove that the site suffers more from the current content than from pure gambler’s realm?
Perhaps the online casinos this site supports get more financial support from the variety of novices that show up than your common gambler.

The reality is, this site is owned by people who make money from getting more players on their online casinos. (Rember the days where the Wizard only had one "approved and recommended" online casino?), now there are screens full of casinos this and other Wizard sites push you to.

Long story short, the forums do not make much money, most of us do not spend money on their online casinos, they want people who are searching online to find this site just to go on to gamble at their sites, the longer people spend on the forums, the less time they are gambling. Just like how in brick and mortar casinos, they want to keep you on the casino floor as long as possible, and when that is not possible, try to bring gaming options to the bars, clubs, etc....

They want less forum reading, and more casino link clicking.

And, the more gaming posts, the more google search results for gaming keywords....

Collecting casino chips is indeed relating to gambling. Gambling can reasonably be construed to include such topics as:
-the history of gambling,
-the diversity of gambling equipment (including chips);
- business developments in the corporate gambling world,
- the architecture of casinos,
- things to do in cities/regions where casinos are,
- legal aspects associated with police seizure of assets such as gambler's cash,
- death/illness of gamblers, gaming industry people and forum members

and dozens of other such topics.

And nothing in the Wizard's comments leads me to believe that non-combative off-topic topics will be banned assuming they are in good taste and add something to the community that uses this forum. Use your common sense.

I think that what you have said is partially true, but not entirely.

For one thing, it makes it sound like the primary driver of the sites is to get people to gamble online. That is not the purpose of the sites, or we wouldn't write some of the stuff that we write. If we think the house edge of a game sucks, we'll say that it sucks and nobody has ever instructed me to do otherwise. If we think the terms and conditions of a particular online casino are ridiculous, then we will write that we think they are ridiculous, and again, nobody has ever so much as hinted that I should do otherwise.

The purpose of Wizardofodds.com, as a primary purpose, is to instruct, educate and provide information for those who are interested in gambling. The purpose of this site is very similar, with more of a focus on conversational/opinion related things, which can be found in the forum as well as the articles.

The model of having one approved casino was not financially sustainable for reasons that I don't fully know, but I suspect really boiled down to most people who were going to go to Bovada had already done so. I also don't know if there were any agreements relating to repeat Bovada play from people who had visited Bovada via this site or what those agreements were. In any event, it was clearly decided that for the sites to be profitable, or more profitable, we would have to advertise multiple online casinos. Bovada remains one of those.

If you wish to maintain that the primary purpose of the site is to get people to visit the online casinos, I won't argue with you, but I will say that politics threads do not even serve the secondary purpose of the site if that is the case.

Honestly, though, you would think there would be more articles about online casinos if that was the goal. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been directly asked to write about a specific online casino.

Is anyone actually going to be posting here more now than they did previously?

The site should be about quality and not content. Given your 100,000 life time of posts, what have you ever posted that could be deemed of value to anybody else, a single gambling related post will do!!

AMS recently posted a trip report that was interesting to many of us that visit Vegas as tourists. And honestly helps attract the type of new members the owners want.

Don’t often agree with AMS but the s*4t he is taking from some for stating his opinion is garbage. It’s why the Wiz opened this up for comments for 24 hours.

As for your Baccarat “skill”, you already know how you are looked at. And your are right, if this site is going to be a legitimate gambling site, anyone claiming winning at Baccarat will be laughed at.

But “welcome” back.

Also « fag flags » or product ads,  for example.

Hate speech: three-day suspension.

PS. Fag flag is not offensive. I first heard it from gay friends using the term for fun, here.

Yes he/she would fit right in with most of the mods with these veiled personal attacks...

This reminds me why I don't come here much any more. Are all gambling types sanctimoniously narcissistic personalities, or just on gambling forum sites like wov?
And yes, that's a free one right out in the open.

Enjoy the new rule and work it out folks.

Beginning to wonder if today will set a record for suspensions?
