I saw this on another forum and thought it was interesting You are playing 9/6 bonus poker deluxe ( I think 9/6 jacks or better would be the same) and there is a promotion that if you get all 13 possible 4 of a kinds you get a 500 credit bonus. So after you have made 12 of the 4 of a kinds and you only need one more should you change your strategy.
So normally you keep two pair or a full house in the game you’re playing but now if you make this last 4 of a kind instead of winning 400 credits you will win 900 credits.
So should you break up the full house or only keep one pair to go for the bonus?
This also leads to the question what if you have only completed 11 of the 13 possible 4 of a kinds, should you change your strategy to go for it ?
The Author who I think is a member here and another person said that you should not change your strategy.
What do you think?

If you have a 5-5-5-6-6 full house and the four-5s hasn't been found yet - go for it, otherwise don't.

Ok but what about j-j-33? Should you keep just the jacks

I agree that the math says that you should go for it. What I was puzzled with is the original Author a well known vp expert says that you should not. Another poster on the other site also questioned this but didn’t receive a response.

Is this during ‘one session’? If so, you definitely would alter your play if you might have to leave before you hit the 13th four of a kind. If you still are playing another 8 hours probably don’t need to change strategy much if at all.

I’m not sure but once you complete the 13 quads you can start all over again.Quote: SOOPOOIs this during ‘one session’? Yes I already have done that and it shows you should alter your strategy. So I just couldn’t understand why others said that you shouldn’t.Quote: harrisHint: modify the pay table to test out your questions

To see why you might not want to alter your strategy, consider a much easier target; say you need exactly AA to win a bonus. Would you break up a made straight to hold one Ace? Of course not, you will get the AA through the natural course of play.
As others have pointed out, it depends on how long you have to hit the bonus, and to a lesser extent, whether you can run this promotion again.
If you only have a few hours left (say it is a 24 hour period about to end) you should play aggressively for the bonus.
If it is a month long promotion and we are on the first of the month, well, you are going to get the proper 4 of a kind in due course, just playing normal strategy.
