Anyway, of course you could disguise the output. Instead of cards, just show which cards to discard using 5 white blanks or dots,
Where they are missing, are the cards or card you discard. Don’t even have to see a representation. The rest of the screen could look like an app of your choice. Or maybe even be a working app.
In advantage play of VP you should be good enough to not need it very often anyway.
Of course you could get even fancier. A avatar character appearing to close its eye might indicate to discard the first card. And so on.

Sounds like too much trouble to me. Even if you disguised the cards it would still be against the rules. Either use it or don't. Very unlikely you will get caught using it.

Let's say it's legal.
A security camera can look down, see what's going on the screen.
Let's say they are uninformed and send security to come down to harass you or back room you, waste your time. Possibly hours. Only to dismiss the whole thing.
Whereas if they see an unsuspicious action, like reading text messages or whatever, they won't bother.
And you really don't need to know the cards, just the position to make the correct play.

Heh, this comment reminds me of one too many times I listened to someone say, "Don't worry about it, nothing's going to happen."
Possibly the worst advice I ever had as it turns out.

I am not saying you should do it, I won't, but very unlikely you would get in trouble. My guess is that most places would warn you first. Gambling is gambling whether it be for money or your freedom. Weigh the odds and make your own determination.
