There appears to be 3 components: the horse, a middle piece that is on the under-side of the table surface, and a bottom piece. The next two photos so the details of the bottom assembly from the side and top:
In the last photo the rectangle on the left is the NFC chip that communicates with middle piece. I never got a clear look at that middle part so I'm not too clear on how that interacts with the horse. My wife was getting a bit impatient at this point so I had to leave off talking with the tech guy despite having more questions.
Quote: AcesAndEightsWow, I'm shocked they let you take pictures of the inside of a gambling device! Even a silly one like Sigma Derby...
I was a bit surprised when the technician said I could take the pictures. There was also a security guard there but he never said a word.

Me too. BTW, that is not a Sigma Derby. I am guessing it is the Konami Fortune Cup.
I was watching an episode of Pawn Stars last night (from 2016) where Rick was in The D negotiating the sale of their Sigma Derby with Derek Stevens. Needless to say, they did not come to terms. I'm wondering if this was just some PR for The D. They didn't come close at all with the price.

Most likely just a PR stunt. That show is so fake in that they have a lot of friends and acquaintances bring things in that are interesting.
I have known two people that have been on it with no intention of selling. The staff already knows about the items that are coming in and they have the "experts" already lined up. Occasionally when the staff is describing the items their comments are right off of the internet. On more than one instance I have Googled the items and Wikipedia gives the same description as Corey and Chumley.
Quote: JoemanI just read that the MGM got rid of their Sigma derby last month! I guess the one at The D is the only functioning one left in the country/world? I wonder how long they will keep it going.

The Borgata in AC now has one of these horse race machines. No idea which one it is , I walk by it often but never stopped to read the name

There is an episode where someone is trying to sell a first appearance of Spider-Man. He is a well known dealer and friends with the expert they brought in. In a nutshell, a scout contacted the dealer and offered him a chance to be on the show and get a free vacation.
The result was a scripted segment that my friends had a huge hand in putting together.
Quote: JohnzimboI liked the show when I thought it was legit. Same with Storage Wars.
Same here. The first couple seasons of each were really interesting. Then they bought into their own hype, and .... oh, well. Haven't watched in 3 years or so.
Bucket list. Someday I, too, will find a gold piece hidden in an old house wall. Either that woman was a good actress or that one happened.
Buy it and charge admission for its adoring fans—including me!

I would totally buy that if I was rich.
I want a small tabletop version of it.

When we moved into our house I found $900 in a butter can in the closet. The closet has a shelf on the bottom and it goes back about 3 feet. There is what I believe is an old fireplace hidden behind a wall and I was trying to see if I could see anything. I saw the can and joked about it being money. I actually thought it was going to be some sort of rat poison or bug trap. As soon as I picked it up I knew what it was. Now I have this hope that there is more money hidden elsewhere. We bought the house when the person living here died at age 95. Who knows what he hid. So far nothing else found. Last weekend I tore down the walls in the laundry room so I can remodel. Was hoping for the jackpot and all I got was a sliced hand.

Most likely the family got most of it. When my grandfather died there was money in all kinds of containers stashed all over the place. The kitchen cupboards were crazy. I think that's how people who went thru the Depression rolled.

Nice!
Interesting that they are pretty recent, "large portrait" bills, so the money wasn't stashed for decades. I'd check the air registers...

I have like 50 shows to watch of it on my DVR. I probably will never get through them. Unless they are loading different junk into people's houses all the time, it seems like it would be real enough.

Wow, free shipping!
Is it possible to reverse engineer the chip? Does it even have a chip?

I found one at an estate sale. It was marked "Shucco" and was from the mid60s.

yeah my guess is he would put 20 or 100 in at a time and maybe when it go to 1k he did something with it. I doubt there is any more hidden but you never know.

Quote: smoothgrhYet another article about Sigma Derby. This time they address the millennial aspect. The D seems to be trying its best to keep the game alive!
