I thought it easier to start a thread on this particular game since I played it yesterday at one of the casinos trialling it. Here's a picture of the pamphlet they provide (http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy96/AbbaPix/Sport%20incl%20Rose%20Bowl/Qilincard2685.jpg), more details of the game can be found at (http://www.ukcasinotablegames.info/qilin.html) although the payout for the 5 is 6/1 (not 5/1 as stated).

The game is based on three dice, each with a different colour, and uses a very nice automatic shaker that jiggles the dice up and down, says no more bets and there's an accompanying display. The colour coding makes it easier for the dealer to enter the result which is kept similar to SicBo. However the layout and fewer bets make it much easier for the weekend casual visitor to understand.

I've seen SicBo come and go in the UK, personally I think because the percentage was too high, there were too many bets to choose from and difficult to understand/master. Qilin overcomes this while still providing a significant range of medium to long-shots.

People I spoke to found it had more variety than roulette - although personally I stuck to the Q-bets as they have the lower house edge (35/36). Money seemed to last longer (probably because most people were only making one wager per spin) and I think it has more similarity with Big 6 (aka Wheel of Fortune) in that it's a fun weekend at a busy casino type of game.

It's no longer in Portsmouth, and Coventry still has a table in the back. So I'm guessing the trial finished and it didn't get rolled out anywhere (but obviously I haven't been to every casino, so it may be lurking somewhere).
