The other afternoon we were at Ocean, where I bought into $5 UTH with $500 and won a couple hands, but then got stomped by bad luck: at one point I was dealt 6-6 and the board had J-J... before she showed I said, “You got that third jack, don’t you,” and of course she did.
Down to $250, I went to 3CP and lost every single hand, until Mrs Mosca came over and I said to the table, “Here is my good luck charm!” At which point I got A-K-Q of clubs, betting 10 for $675.
Strange. Basically lost almost every hand for an hour and a half, then one hand got me ahead. Same thing happened on slots (I play because she plays). I hit a $750 and a $500 on the $5 WoF, which bailed out all those $100 losses I incurred as we moved around the casino.
So, two days of losing all day, but three decent hits and I was up $400. I’ll take it.
Or cause and effect. Few weeks ago I took a beating at poker but won 1600 on tables. If I wouldnt have taken a bad beat on the exact hand that I did then I wouldnt have won 1600.
Quote: GWAEGambling is weird. How many times have you played 3cp or ms and the person next to you gets win after win while you lose and lose. All you had to do is sit in that seat instead.

I normally go from blackjack to poker or vice versa. Lately, I've been avoiding Wind Creek blackjack because pokerstars is more porfitable because i wont bet the sidebets although i see the sidebets subconsiously. I was proud of myself the other day as Ive been playing poker online and went to play with real people, and KILLED the table and walked by the blackjack table with my profits from poker.
The poker story went like so if anyone is interested :
1/2 NL
I just kept having the nuts over nuts.
At one point - and my weakness is that I feel bad for people when they lose - I flopped KK, the other guy who bet into me had a King as well. The Flop came K something 7. So I flop a set, and dude bets into me I call. Hes got top pair and hes not folding as of this point. The Turn came 7, and paired the board. He keeps betting and I call. The river comes, not sure what it is but it doesnt matter as it doesnt improve anyones hand and I have a boat. Dude bets, and I know I should raise but I say "Do you have a boat?" because of how he was betting his kings. He looked a bit confused and he shows me the King and I show the boat. EVERYONE at the table starts playfully saying I should have raised - even the guy who lost. Crazy thing is the guy who lost to my boat, lost an all in to another boat the very next hand.
Last crappy story of a poker hand -
I flop 99, and im in a very bad spot because I just went all in because why not? Well the guy next to me has KK, and after I went all in, he trys talking to me because hes thinking I have aces. I placed at least 3X his stack into the pot and other people at the table thought I had aces too. Anyways after about a 5 minute talk, he calls and is relieved to find I have 99. I sucked out on the river with a 9 for a set. I shook his hand ans hes gone.
I eliminate 2 players off the table in less than 2 hours.

This is the sad part of gambling
that fools people. They think
they can get ahead in the long
run because they often do in
the short term. It's fooled my
wife for years. Try telling a
frequent casino patron he'll
never get ahead in the long
term, he won't believe you
and he'll hate your guts on
top of it. He knows he will
because he's up from yesterday.

It got me when we started going to casinos. Now it’s entertainment. I won $400, she lost $400, we had a good time, got the room and a couple meals comped, and that’s all good. Next time we might both lose $400, or both win, whatever. It was fun.
My brother couldn’t go to casinos. He had an addictive personality. He would empty his bank account for the thrill of playing. He stayed away, thank goodness.

I had an older friend who would
max out his credit cards every
tie he went, just trying to get
even. It's like he was in a fever
dream, I stopped going with
him. His wife finally stopped
him by filing for divorce.

Uhh, I'm thinking. Let's see. Nope, never happened.

My brother didn’t care about winning, losing, or getting even. He played for the play. Winning existed to keep playing.
