Recently migrated from playing mostly BJ to craps and was curious if anyone had any info on how comps are computed on craps play? Relatively new to both craps and this forum, so figure someone here would know.

Did some searching on the web but wasn't able to find much. What little I found seemed to indicate the bettor generally only gets credit for their Pass/Come bets but not for any odds bets. Any of you guys know if that holds true? Playing the pass line + come bets w/ full odds at a $10 table, would say I usually have at least $150 worth of action on the table per point. Hate to think I'd only be earning comp credit for $30-40, but sounds like that might be the case? From a time standpoint, probably be putting in an average of 2-3 hours per day for 3 days.

As a $25/hand BJ player, I'm usually able to get rooms (2-3 nights) at most mid-level strip properties (Harrahs, Mirage, etc) and get the Su-Th treatment at places like Venetian, Caesar's, etc. Assuming only my base bets (no odds) are counted, sounds like I should expect the same?

Appreciate any info provided.

I've played $10 craps at Venetian, with PL and 2 come bets, full odds, for several hours. Before checkout I checked with the host on duty and was informed I had not earned any comps.

There is a thread entitled Vegas Casinos who Rate the Odds Bet in Craps which is pretty short, but some casinos do rate the odds bets.

1. Green Valley Ranch - rated the full odds bet (3x, 4x, 5x) for my pass line and each come bet
2. Stratosphere - rated 2x odds.

Check with the downtown Casinos, Fitzgerald's rate the full on odds bet.

Personally, I would check Main Street. They permit 20X odds. If they rate the odds bets, they have some of the nicer rooms downtown. They always have $5 minimums. It can be difficult to find $10 minimums at some times of the day at the nicer casinos on the strip. $15-$25 is more common.

I did not have any problem finding $10 at Wynn and Bellagio on my last trips to Vegas with the exception only of Saturday night. But the Paris and Mandalay Bay will offer $5 and $10 tables all day long.

Craps generally (there are exceptions) do not comp you on the odds as there is no expected loss, so you get rated only on the pass line and your place bets.

I've played $10 craps at Venetian

At the Venetian you would probably be invisible playing 10.00 craps even if you played for 24 hours straight! Some say that if there is only one green chip out there the Venetian still won't see you. Two green chips, odds ... and tripping that magic four hour mark will definitely have impact at the Venetian however. I'm not certain just what whets their appetite the most there, but they do offer some good comps to people who are not really high rollers at all.

Appreciate all the info. Was more curious than anything if/what $10 base bets would net in terms of comps. Sounds like a big stack of nothing! haha

Will most likely be staying at either Encore or Venetian on this trip (Encore has some good deals on rooms right now). Not playing expecting to get my room or food comped, but it's a nice residual if it should happen. If anything, guess I'll start receiving more offers after the fact.

I have played craps at the Venetian at the $15 PL level and I have gotten room comps later in the mail. They are pretty good about comps.

I just got back from Main Street and had a good discussion with one of the pit personnel - currently they do not rate odds for their craps bets, but because they offer the 20x odds, apparently they've been getting quite a bit of feedback about the lack of comps and are thinking about offering "partial" credit on odds bets. Who knows when/if that will happen, but it is refreshing to see them talking about it.

If you are taking advantage of the 20X odds then you are probably betting one or two night room rate with every roll. Weekday room rates are often $36 to $40 and rarely go above $70 on a weekend. They frequently give you a 3rd night for free in the summer. Free internet is available in the lobby. Rooms are 400 sq ft, but some suites are available.

Lunch is $7.99 at the garden court buffet and $10.99 on weekends with unlimited champagne. Beer is $1.50 at the casino bars.

Instead of pursuing comps at significant house advantage, Main Street is a good place to go and just gamble. If you build up player points, and you want to stay near the strip, there is always Gold Coast or Orleans Casino.

I'm not much of a craps player, but I agree with you. I usually only play single/double odds unless the table is hot. MSS is a great value, both from a hotel and a casino perspective. The staff is very friendly, to the point that one of the dealers talked with me for a little bit and then realized her break replacement was 15 minutes late! I played their DD Blackjack and PGP each night for my 2 night stay, and they were more than willing to comp a champagne buffet for two and knock 20% off my rate which was $80/nt due to the ACM awards/NFR/NHRA being in town for the weekend.

Just returned from a late-July trip to Vegas. Put in a few sessions at both Wynn/Encore and Palazzo/Venetian. Was told at Encore they don't count odds bets in their player ratings. Conversely, floorman at Palazzo told me they DO count odds. Was a little surprised by this. Guess I'll see how that translates into future offers, as that'd bump me up quite a bit in average bet/hr.

Anyone else able to confirm this? This was my first trip back to Vegas since my original post, so I wasn't expecting any strip properties to count odds bets, but this would definitely be a nice bonus if true.
