Greetings!

The total Prize Pool is up to $275, which includes $200 from me, an extremely generous $50 donation from JohnZimbo (his winnings for the, "You Suck," prize in the regular WoV Picks Game less his Entry Fee, which goes to Gordonm888) and a separate generous $25 donation from UnJon.

Barring any further developments, the Prize Pool for Top 3 will be:

First Place: $150
Second Place: $75
Third Place: $25

I have asked UnJon whether he wants to add to the regular Top Three or create a separate prize with his funds, so I am waiting to hear back on that. If he chooses the former, then Third Place will pay $50 instead.

UnJon leaves it to my discretion, but he has also come up with an idea for the, "Highest Turnover," award. I have decided to adopt this idea, so Third Place will receive $25 and the person who makes the most money in total bets will receive UnJon's $25 prize!

Also, one simple solution for (most, if not all) spreads and totals is that I am just going to get rid of the juice. Therefore, if the Line for a spread or total is -110 for both sides, then it will simply become +100.

Granted, that actually makes them breakeven bets, which is an improvement to other bets. That said, they aren't the highest potential reward bets, so I think it's fine. I might trim down other Lines a bit, as well, to more or less remove some of the vig.

I think that is a great idea since it isn't real money and everybody has access to the same lines it really doesn't matter what the payouts are. Maybe add some parlays that pay 7 to1 for a three teamer and 14 to one for a four teamer. That way no one will probably be out of contention at any time.

I think with some of the Conference Championship player props and Super Bowl player/game props everyone should still be in it as long as they have some amount of game bankroll left. If it doesn't look that way, I'll adjust. I'm going to try to strike a balance with keeping people in contention and not having it such that the whole game can be won by hitting a fluke. If people don't bet conservatively enough to give themselves a chance if early bets go poorly, then that was their strategy.

Gordonm888 has most graciously donated $100 of his WoV Picks Game winnings to this event! He has suggested that it be added to the main prizes; thank you very much to Gordonm888 and the new Top Three Prizes shall be as follows:

1st Place: $200
2nd Place: $100
3rd Place $50

There is also a consolation prize for the player who can make the most in total $$$ bet, courtesy of a $25 donation to the Playoff Game by UnJon!

I would like to again thank JohnZimbo for his $50 contribution to the pool, Gordonm888 for his $100 contribution and UnJon for his $25 contribution!

Please do not take this as a solicitation of more donations, because it is absolutely NOT, but what I will say is that no additional donations will be accepted once the game is underway. However, should you think of something you want to do on the side while this game is underway that both:

A.) Ties into this game.

And:

B.) Creates no additional work for me.

You will be perfectly welcome to do that even if the game is underway.

Greetings!

Picks Formatting

Please try to format your Picks as you see in the Lines below. I don't know why you would change the order of the information, but all information MUST appear (team, bet type and Line) in order for your bet to be valid.

Please remember all players are starting with a, 'Bankroll,' of $500.

RULES for WildCard Weekend

2a.) All players will make no fewer than five bets the first week of the Playoffs.

2b.) All players will make no greater than ten bets the first week of the Playoffs.

2c.) The minimum bet for the first week of the Playoffs shall be $50, per bet.

2d.) The maximum bet for the first week of the Playoffs shall be $100, per bet.

The good news is that 2a and 2c are the only possible rules to break, at least without simultaneously breaking multiple rules that would include these two rules anyway, this week.

Should we put the dollar amount in front?

I would say anywhere is fine for dollar amount provided the "$" is clearly positioned.

Ugggh. NFL Wild Card games are notoriously difficult to pick. And two of the games have major QB uncertainties (Tua and Lamar). And we have a new contest structure and rules that none of us has experience with (and praise for Mission for conjuring up such an interesting structure.)

And, in this contest, the formidable Johnzimbo will be playing to win, not to lose. Miplet and EdCollins are blue-chip pickers who surely can't run bad forever. I'm also worried about that group of pickers that finished 2nd through 6th in the previous contest : VegasBrent, IndyJeffrey, FourFiveFace, Jim Rockford and PlayYourCardsRight- IMO, those guys have game. Wizard can't be counted out because he has probably won more of the forum's NFL picks contests than anyone. And, KSDJDJ and SOOPOO are experienced sports gamblers who know what they are doing and may be about to give the rest of us a lesson.

And the pattern of history is that darkhorse contestants often emerge as the front-runner and eventual contest winner.

For myself, I predict: PAIN.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

I finished third to last in last year's playoff contest, so I'm not worth worrying about.

I expect to end up south of the Mendoza Line.
