Greetings!
This is the thread for the 2023 WoV NFL Playoff Picks Game!
The purpose of this post will simply be to outline the Rules as I do not know whether or not it will be open to individuals who did not play in the regular WoV NFL Picks Game:
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/sports/37489-2022-wov-nfl-picks-thread/
Also, the Prize Pool for this game is also dependent on whether or not the Perfection Bonus in the regular game is hit in Week 18.
THE RULES
The Rules for this game will be as follows:
1.) Every player begins with a, 'Bankroll,' of $500; this is not real money and does not represent any real money. It is for gameplay purposes only.
2.) For the first two weeks of the Playoffs, the following Lines will be posted for each game:
-Spread
-Total
-Moneyline
2a.) All players will make no fewer than five bets the first week of the Playoffs.
2b.) All players will make no greater than ten bets the first week of the Playoffs.
2c.) The minimum bet for the first week of the Playoffs shall be $50, per bet.
2d.) The maximum bet for the first week of the Playoffs shall be $100, per bet.
2e.) All players will make no fewer than three bets in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs. (However, if it is only possible to make two-$$$-that is permitted)
2f.) All players will make no greater than ten bets in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs.
2g.) The minimum bet for the Divisional Round of the Playoffs shall be $50, per bet.
2h.) The maximum bet for the Divisional Round of the Playoffs shall be $150, per bet.
3.) The Conference Championship Game will consist of the following Lines:
-Spread
-Total
-Moneyline
-Select Game Props
-Select Player Props
3a.) All players will make no fewer than two selections during the Conference Championship Week. (If possible)
3b.) All players will make no greater than ten bets during the Conference Championship Week.
3c.) The minimum bet amount permitted is $50, per bet.
3d.) The maximum bet amount permitted is $200, per bet.
4.) The Super Bowl will consist of the following Lines:
-Spread
-Total
-Moneyline
-Select Game Props
-Select Player Props
4a.) All players must make at least one selection for the Super Bowl.
4b.) There is no maximum number of bets that can be made, provided you have the bankroll.
4c.) The minimum bet amount permitted is $50, per bet.
4d.) The maximum bet allowed is $250, per bet.
5.) Failure to make the minimum number of Picks allowed, if it is possible ($$$) for you to do so, results in immediate disqualification.
6.) Attempting to bet less than the minimum, unless you are only making ONE BET and it is for everything you have, will result in immediate disqualification.
7.) Attempting to bet more than the maximum on a single bet will result in immediate disqualification.
8.) The Top Three Finishers will be in the Prize Money---with amounts to be determined.
9.) The RULES for making your bets shall be as follows:
9a.) All bets MUST include the line and the bet amount being placed.
9b.) There will be a deadline for all bets to be made that will be posted, and sent in PM's, when the Lines are posted.
10.) Conflicting Picks WILL Result in immediate disqualification. EX: If the Chargers are playing the Jaguars, then you couldn't bet BOTH Over and Under, or Titans spread and Jaguars spread---however, you ARE permitted to make a spread bet on one team whilst betting on its opponent to win outright.
NOTES:
Each week, when the lines are posted, these posts will also include the minimum number of bets that must be made, the maximum number of bets that can be made, the minimum bet amount per bet and the maximum bet amount per bet, so it should be easy to pick according to the rules.
There are no tiebreakers. In the very unlikely event that two players finish with the same cash total, they will split the corresponding prize(s) for their position(s).
Any breakage off of whole dollar amounts (in the game) will always round DOWN.
Half of the contestants get disqualified!
But looks like fun. And thanks for the agony you are going to undergo scoring/adjudicating this!
Can I make separate bets on the same team pointspread and money line?
2. Can you bet against yourself? For example, can a person bet $55 to win $50 on Dallas -3 and also bet $55 to win $50 on Tampa Bay +3? (In real life, of course, you can, but if this is possible here, it's sort of a way of getting around the minimum number of bets rule.)
Thanks in advance for hosting.
If I run out of money before the Superb Owl and need to borrow, what's the vig? Standard 2 points per week? ;)
I promise I'm good for it!

Those bets would be perfectly legal. It is also legal to bet one team on the spread and its opponent on the Moneyline; you just couldn't bet opposing teams both on the Moneyline, bet opposing teams both on spread or bet both TOTAL OVER and UNDER on the same game.
Also, you're welcome!
Quote: EdCollins1. I assume the normal 11 to win 10 will apply to all straight bets. Yes?

You're welcome!
Assuming that's what the Line is at the time I post it, then yes. I'm probably just going to use DraftKings this time, so sometimes you'll have a particular spread, but it's -105 or -115 with its opposite being +110, +100, whatever. The spreads will just be whatever they are.
In terms of betting against yourself, good catch; I have added the following rule:
Quote:10.) Conflicting Picks WILL Result in immediate disqualification. EX: If the Chargers are playing the Jaguars, then you couldn't bet BOTH Over and Under, or Titans spread and Jaguars spread---however, you ARE permitted to make a spread bet on one team whilst betting on its opponent to win outright.

You're welcome! You can buy back in if you bust out with every $1 of real cash sent to me representing $1 in-game dollar; it will be like a casino slots app...just more expensive. JK
A FEW NOTES
1.) The Prize Pool will be announced later this evening. We have one potential donation coming into the game, so I am just waiting to make sure the donor wants to do that and how the donor would like that money applied.
2.) I said my contribution to the prizes for this game would be $200 only if the Perfection Bonus was not hit in Week 18 of the WoV NFL Picks Game, but that was a little bit of a fib; I am contributing $200 for prizes for this game anyway.
3.) Because the Perfection Bonus was hit last week:
3a.) I will be participating in this contest to defend my money.
3b.) THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO ANYONE WHO WISHES TO ENTER. This contest is also completely free to enter, so you probably should, even if you don't necessarily think you can win.
*If you played in the 2022 WoV NFL Picks Game, then you will automatically receive a reminder to participate in this game when the Lines go up, which will likely be sometime tomorrow.
*If you did not participate in the 2022 WoV NFL Picks Game, then you CAN receive a PM reminder to make Picks simply by making a post in this thread that you would like to play, or alternatively, you can send me a PM asking for a reminder to make Picks.
*Anyone who participated in the 2022 WoV NFL Picks Game will receive an additional reminder, probably Friday, if they have not already submitted Picks.
*You DO NOT have to receive a reminder to enter this contest. If you wish to enter, then simply send me a PM with your Picks when the Lines go up; this contest is free to play and is open to all. The Prize Pool will be at least $200.
The total Prize Pool is up to $275, which includes $200 from me, an extremely generous $50 donation from JohnZimbo (his winnings for the, "You Suck," prize in the regular WoV Picks Game less his Entry Fee, which goes to Gordonm888) and a separate generous $25 donation from UnJon.
Barring any further developments, the Prize Pool for Top 3 will be:
First Place: $150
Second Place: $75
Third Place: $25
I have asked UnJon whether he wants to add to the regular Top Three or create a separate prize with his funds, so I am waiting to hear back on that. If he chooses the former, then Third Place will pay $50 instead.
