It reminded me of Hulkamania. They were in shambles, but the crowd willed them to a dramatic victory.
A-Rod will be fine. The medical staff wouldn't have allowed him to return if there was concern. Worst case scenario out 4wks, IMO.
I think I had a pretty good week. And interesting that we are using the same exact strategy !Quote: onenickelmiracleAfaik I'll be 5/6 if the Rams cover tonight. Anyone perfect? My strategy is no strategy, I have no confidence going forward, might have to study if my luck persists.
You copied off me? I did post my picks publicly, but I'm not any good, does no harm. It was literally just impulse picks, took 1 minute to make up my mind. I did recall the Cleveland Pittsburgh opening game last year being close and a very low score, hoped it would repeat. After this, I'm using a oujia board. I could post 5 picks, that could be false picks, and they're just as likely to succeed as whatever picks I'm really using. It would be funny if I scared way others from using pics I picked, if they happen to be good pics.Quote: JohnnyQI think I had a pretty good week. I don't even have to look back to past years to know that 21 picks is BY FAR a record for the most number of picks for a total, for one game, let alone all on the SAME side.
As a comparison, the next highest number of over/under picks this week, on the same side, were on the Jags/Giants game with just 4 picks. (4 liked the UNDER in that game.)
So what did I miss? Why so may UNDERS on the Steelers/Browns game? And don't tell me it was just a coincidence, cause I won't buy it. Some piece of info must have been available to the public that I wasn't privy to.
I didn't know what you picked. When you said we used the same strategy, I thought they were identical. I was in a car driving, couldn't look it up. I can’t speak for anyone else, but my default strategy always includes whoever plays the Browns ATS AND Browns UNDER. It doesn’t matter who they play, I’ll always have Browns UNDER.

AND it still came down to TWO, NOT just ONE, missed Field Goals in OT. I had started to pencil that pick in as a "-2" at the end of the 4th Qtr because I had it as a confidence pick.Quote: RomesThere definitely was PUBLIC information that made this a very good bet =).

Don't think it's ever happened before. Congrats to all you sharp guys!
Quote: gordonm888The high covariance was partly due to so many of us reacting to the violent weather reports for the Cleveland-Pittsburgh game.
You gentlemen were checking the weather forecast in home game cities? Man... I'm in over my head!
You will notice that virtually every person who picked the Under for the Browns/Steelers game is at the bottom of Missions list -because they were the last people to send in their picks to Mission -they all waited until late Saturday or early Sunday to submit their picks. They almost all noticed the mention in various sports pick blogs of violent Cleveland weather and/or saw the O/U line drop to 39-41 points.
So, no, I normally don't check the weather in all the home cities for every game.
And here I thought EdC was about to blow the lid of a new scandal with his time travel theory.Quote: gordonm888What Happened. .....The O/U for that game dropped from 44.5 pts to 39-41 pts at most major sportsbooks and eventually settled at about 41 pts. And, of course, Mission's Thursday line for the O/U for that game remained fixed at 44.5
So, no, I normally don't check the weather in all the home cities for every game.
Regardless, I for one, pledge not to use TIME TRAVEL to make picks for the remainder of this game. What say you all ? Dilly dilly.

A bunch of college games are already cancelled. What are the rules for this league if you pick a game that has been cancelled? Should count as a zero.
That would not be the participant's fault, of course. So I would count it as a "push", doesn't help, doesn't hurt, percentage-wise. Seems obvious, but worth clarifying ( ? ).Quote: VegasriderA bunch of college games are already cancelled. What are the rules for this league if you pick a game that has been cancelled? Correct, it would be a no-decision.

Quote: FleaStiffSo when do I have to get my second set of 5 picks submitted by???
If there is an international game with an early kickoff, Mission usually mentions the early submission deadline when the lines are released on Thursday.
In the past, uncertainties like key player injuries or weather have caused problems getting a line on Thursday. Hopefully, that won’t be the case this year.

Whoops. There's currently is no line on the Vikings-Packers game. The small matter of Aaron Rodgers and whether he will play or not.
I was surprised the books opened with a line but it looked like it was a pick ‘em to -1 up until last night.Quote: gordonm888Whoops. There's currently is no line on the Vikings-Packers game. The small matter of Aaron Rodgers and whether he will play or not.

Me too. I'm waiting as long as possible because I almost always bet the Vikings.
There is a composite line there now, but I guess it's meaningless, given all the individual books missing? I don't think the line is correctly pick-em even if they're in GB.
