The main point is if you're picking based on conditions, at the same time, designate as many not based on conditions, just to see how you match up. Then you can see how you compare to random picks.Quote: RisingDoughMeaning no edge is to be had? You'd do just as well picking by random?

With me, the best I can do is visual handicapping and reading others opinions, handicapping handicappers, as far as racing. Cannot really read a racing form yet, when I can, I'll probably wonder the point as much as now, wondering what difference there is.

The racing form is not often very useful in gaining an edge but it sometimes is. If there are 12 horses in a race it's very possible that even a knowledgeable handicapper missed something important about 1 or 2 horses. News coverage of racing is generally only very good for big races, not for the little ones. I once found a horse racing in the slop let off at 6/1 when he had won and excelled in the slop at the same level 2 races back. You would think that everybody would have seen that and bet the horse down but sometimes it doesn't happen. I have seen a cheap speed horse who always takes the early lead and then falters being shortened to 4 furlongs and should have been bet way down but wasn't. I hope you don't mind me saying so but I think you would benefit by learning to read the form.

Think how much money they keep when people assumed they had lost. A lot. I even almost threw away a $70 winning ticket on a horse bet because somehow I watched the wrong race and the horse with similar odds was at the same post. Naturally I checked it, like I normally do, but I could possibly under the right conditions, procrastinate and never check. The pick races offer consolations if horses are scratched, transferring your picks to post time favorites. Now that may seem fair, but it truthfully isn't. If the people don't understand the rules, they might assume they just didn't win, and never cash. In such cases, the true winners get diluted by these people and lose that fraction to the lost and found. I think it would be fairer to refund that bet and let tracks lose out on commission than short changing winners. The tracks get paid twice in this system. If you wager electronically, tickets are never forgotten and are automatically credited to accounts if winners. It's the true golden rule in effect, whoever has the gold, makes the rules.

RD, I have found if that my pick of a dog matched yours I did awfully well.
When I looked at the NCAA games for today, I felt that 3 of the favorites were going to move on including the favorites in the games in which you picked the dogs of Purdue and West Virginia.
In consideration of the fact that I always lean towards taking the dogs and I see where you have picked the opposite side in 2 of the games, I'm going to not play those 2. I hope you're right, and if you're wrong then I'm just gonna have to hate you :-).
