The Blue bonus boosts the wheel prize but only certain slices.
Most of the time you land on a slice that isn't boosted.

The Green bonus gives you extra pointers to the wheel to get multiple slices.
But one of the picks is +0 extra.

The small sample of ploppies I've seen play seem disgusted when the bonus doesn't give them anything extra.
And the 2nd time they get no extra pointers, they cash out and leave in anger.

Why create useless bonuses?
Do slots like this actually last in a casino?
Craps is paradise (Pair of dice). Lets hear it for the SpeedCount Mathletes :)

Have you heard about a game called rich little piggies? </sarcasm>

Those machines are notorious for useless bonuses.

I've often wondered the same as you in this post, but I feel the answer is right in front of us. Apparently there are enough good plays that people keep coming back to it.

I agree with this, but I guess the machines with useless bonuses must be popular. There were, and probably still are, some machines that have a, 'Bonus Guarantee,' which pays you 10x the bet amount if you Bonus Spins fail to amass more than that amount. It doesn't add 10x to the winnings, but it brings your winnings up to 10x. I was surprised not to see that feature become more popular.

Probably because the average gambler believes they will be winning big or at least dream of winning big.

The slot saying they have a guarantee minimum payout if they run bad in the bonus is like saying "hey if you are bound to be unlucky then we got you".

And no one who believes they are Mr. LUCKY wants to be told they may be that unlucky guy who can't even win 10x their wager.

Of course the other possibility is most gamblers don't read info on slots. I can't tell you how many times I have seen someone sit at a slot with a blue screen with the message "CALL ATTENDANT " and sit there for 2 minutes trying to figure out why their cash isn't being accepted!

I think you're probably right; either that, or the get the 'Bonus Guarantee' two or three consecutive times and decide it's 'rigged' to run low. Of course, that's despite the fact that lots of slot machines can produce bonuses of less than 10x bet.

Because it’s like a near miss.

It gives people the thrill of possibly winning without costing anything.

Sort of like the games where the bonus usually pays in retriggers instead of cash. (Two bonus symbols or coins to retrigger where to initiate the bonus it takes 3) Some games will give a ton of retriggers in the bonus but rarely any sizable payouts.

Its fun and exciting for the gambler (at least until they lose) but it doesn’t cost much if anything for the casino.

The 10x bonus guarantees don’t feel like a win, they feel like a loss, yet they cost money which is why I assume they never caught on.

I assume it makes features seem more exciting and makes people who don't into math believe their odds are better.

Aristrocrat's Coin Trio has thee feature options that can be won separately or together... ly: a collect feature, a double feature, or a random-ish prize feature. When a gambler gets a bonus, the player will initiate specific feature if they land a certain coin. The random prize feature increases a prize and then awards it. The collect feature "collects" values on screen and places that value on the coin. The double feature doubles all values on screen and then replaces the coin with a small prize.

Collect and double are the same thing. Double is slightly better because it gives 2x screen value plus 0.25*wager or something, but the difference is not bigger enough to matter. I have seen people who have both features at the same time calling out for the collect feature. They will get a double and then say "now it is to for a [collect]".
