Can anyone figure out the odds of losing with quad 10s 7 handed with both cards playing and requiring a pocket pair for quads?

Does the winning hand also have to have both cards playing?
For example, if the board is 10h 10d 9d 8d 7d and another player has 6d 2s, does that count?

Usually it does.

Except in this case, the board has to have two 7s to enable the opponent to have quad 7s (so your illustrative board doesn't fit this example.). And this will restrict the range of possible straight flushes when only one player card is involved in the SF.

Your answer is ambiguous.

For the record, yes to the first question, no to the second.

Usually, quads must have a pocket pair while hands that are straight flushes must use both cards. For example, if a player has Ks Qs and the board has Js Ts 9s 8s 8d his hand qualifies, but the only other hand to qualify is 8h 8c. A hand of 7s 6s would NOT qualify since his best five card hand doesn’t use the 6s.

Note, that’s for bad beats only. Many poker rooms have high hand bonuses that need only one card.

As far as the odds go, I couldn’t find it yet, but I believe the Wiz has an article on this.

Both Hollywood Park Casino and The Bicycle Casino (both near LA) have offered from time to time super bad beat jackpots with quads losing to quads or better. Both cards play so both players need pocket pairs.

At both casinos the jackpot was $100,000 with $40,000 paid to the loser, $30,000 paid to the winner, $20,000 split as a table share and $10,000 split among all active players.

I was at the Bicycle the Sunday afternoon when quad 10s lost to quad Jack's. But I was playing in the Sunday tournament and missed out on the $10,000 split.
