There are a number of things that make me doubt the. Veracity of the article.

Today roulette wheels use algorithms? Really? I thought it was same old tried and true physics!

there is no doubt at all that the article is true. this is his New York Times obituary - he died last August

there is a thread about him at bjtf - there are several there who knew him and one or two who teamed up with him in other ventures
