As one that set up free play promotions for casinos, we did not raise or lower our promotions based on the prosperity of the casino. We would initially set the promo amounts a little higher than typical at the start of a new promotion, but the deciding factor was always the number of players in each tier. For example, we may set an amount of $2000 free play a week for the top five players, $1000 a week for the next 15 best players, and so forth. In our case your offers may go up or down based on your play relative to the other players. So even if you consistently played $25k a month your offer may go up or down from $200 a week to $50 a week depending on what others are playing.

What happens with you have 10 or so players getting 2k a week ?

This can’t be the way things are done now. At least not at the casinos I regularly go to.

My final free play at Red Rock for September.

$15 played on Bonus with $1 seed money required.

Cashed out $15 for a $14 net win.

In October free play stays at $15 for six times. No free play at tables.

My final $5 of free play at Suncoast is on Friday Sept 30th. I don't know if I'll be nearby to claim it.

Suncoast is keeping my $5 of free play thru October which I think is amazing since they get no table play from me.

They did expand their craps hours to 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights. But the table closes around midnight on weekdays.

I prefer weekdays around 4am so no play for me at Suncoast. I wonder when the $5:free play will finally end?

The irony here is Alan is sending out signals to advantage Players and doesn't even understand how.

The reason some casinos do it that way is because they only have a budget of $XXXXX a week for free play. So that pool of free play has to be carved up amongst all the players that qualify.

I understand it's purpose but I agree with Seedvalue, that it's not done that way anymore. Not anywhere I am familiar with.

I'm also not understanding why you would need a budget for Freeplay? The idea is the player will gamble the amount that "has no cash value" back to the casino and then add to it his own money.

It's an intangible item unless and only if every single player was to play through and leave with the results from the Freeplay.

Otherwise putting a budget on how much is handed out is useless. How much money is not bought in by such a system above is what should be questioned.

Boyd is clearly losing money on me with their $5 free play offers but it has nothing to do with the free play.

I've responded to surveys from Boyd and said I would not return to play there until they reopened craps to 24/7.

While Suncoast has full pay Bonus and TDB games even after they recently removed some machines, it's craps that I want to play there. And specifically I want to play on their Bonus Craps table. In the past I walked out when their Repeater Bet table was open.

You have to look at it from the casino perspective. Every dollar that walks out the door from free play is a potential loss to the casino. You never know if that player will bring the money back and play it.

For the record and I hope execs from Boyd Gaming read this: your rewards system for your tier status is the worst in town.

Red Rock and Stations is equally as bad.

Like Caesars you get zip.

The only thing worthwhile is having a host who can get you comps.

The ruin of the players clubs might be linked to Covid and it might not. The point is they suck.

Do not play for comps.

My guppy story…. I play -EV $25 Pai Gow periodically, probably averaging 3 hours a trip. Was getting $10 on average free bet (worth $5) once a week. I probably didn’t go for a few months once they allowed smoking. Haven’t had free bet since. When going I vulture a little, rarely putting enough in to even get one ‘point’ on my card. Last trip hit quad aces (not with the multiplier!) so won $200, plus another $10 on the others. Went to see how many points I made from my PaiGow action and it was 9, equal to $9 and a free screwdriver set. PLUS…. my minimal machine play got me $25 in free play! So my trip summary…. Won $1, yes, exactly $1 at Pai Gow. Turned my $25 free play into $5. (Bad run). $210 on the machines Plus the screwdriver gift. PLUS…. casino built gas station on their land so no NYS taxes. Probably saved another $5 on the fill up!

AND……. Wifey really liked the screwdriver set! That resulted in extra benefits for me!

I’m going tomorrow with a different friend who plays craps. So I will likely play craps for the first time in years. I’m not optimistic.

Friday at Suncoast. $5 free play.
Cashed out $4.50

I was having dinner nearby. Otherwise I would have skipped this one location free play offer.

Monday is a "normal" day with $5 at Suncoast and $15 at Red Rock.

Due to my almost total lack of action for the past 6 months,
my usual haunt has graciously reduced my weakly free play offer from $15 to $10.

Made about $2 off of freeplay, then another $230 straight gambling to run some coin-in to create future offers.

While many property restaurants remain closed, this is the first time in a long time that I have seen a bus tour group.
May the cards fall in your favor.
