As far as new money, old money...eh, not necessarily. While it may be true that when a person gets into luxury watches first probably all he knows about is Rolex, and then later learns and gets into the other brands, there are plenty of new money people who are into Pateks, such as for example Ed Sheehan is a real Patek hound (now, whether he started with Rolex and built up to Patek, I don't know), and then all the richest rappers these days are into Richard Mille.
(Richard Mille was the brand of watch stolen during that Beverly Hills robbery a month or so ago.)

Ace2, I have owned the platinum Day Date 40mm for some time now (with the blue face). I have posted some pics of it in the past, including this one

recently.

The watch I was thinking of buying next is the Platina (Daytona platinum), which is what you and I were talking about I believe. I have not acquired that yet, but I recently acquired a Cartier tourbillon, actually I'm wearing it in that picture with the 12 cents in my palm, and a number of other watches, including a Breguet with an alarm feature in it, and a different watch with a perpetual calendar, and a few others. I actually went a little overboard recently with the watch buying. However, the only Rolex I have acquired recently was another one for my wife. She doesn't really care much about stuff like that, I am the watch hound, but I couldn't just keep buying only men's.

Oh you got me coach belly. I can only hope to someday own a paperclip and what looks like 3 or 4 hundred dollar bills. Maybe if I pick up some extra shifts at micky D's.

As far as the watches, I know that kind of thing is important to the older generation. Means nothing to me. Never worn a watch in my life. That is so 1900's. My generation looks at our phone to see the time. Wouldn't know an expensive watch from a $5 watch.

If the watch has Mickey Mouse on it then it's a Mickey Mouse watch. Most likely $5

If it has Walt Disney original signature etched in then it's expensive

I FOUND THE CHIP. I found it.

My wife needed something out of the trunk of the car so I went down to valet and had them retrieve it. As soon as I opened the trunk it was right there, right on top of one of our extra bags of shopping stuff that we accumulated during this trip and don't need up in the rooms. RIGHT THERE. It must have fallen out when I pulled my phone out of my pocket when accessing the car to put some things into it sometime after my session two days ago. Maybe it stuck in my pants pocket to the side of my phone the whole time after the session and never made it into the green winner's pouch.

Anyway I have it now.

Then I went to order some take-out breakfast and realized I didn't have my phone with me. At first I thought I had left it in the trunk just now, but it was back up in the room.

I knew I had one more of those chips. I was telling the valet a bit of the story and that I had been looking for it for two days and showed it to him.

"You must be happy now!"

FROM NOW ON no more chips in the pants pocket - into a zippered shut coat pocket or tightly clutched in my hand they will go.

Just an observation.

I beat the hell out of my hands(no fear hands) and never use any lotion or cream, never have (I can't stand that stuff). I'll even mix cement and do cement work with no gloves until they are raw and bleeding. My hands don't look anywhere near the age of that hand. That would suggest your age is older than you have let on or they are working man hands.

Or...maybe I lift free weights every other day unlike some pansies I meet all the time. It's harder to know who is a pansy these days though, because the firm handshake with eye contact is out of style given the Pandemic. I've had callouses on my hands ever since I rowed for the crew team in college. Crew - you know anything about that? That's what we do back east at ________ colleges.

Hands are interesting too. Close your hand up, as in that pic, and it looks one way. Open it up, spread it out, it looks another. Try it sometime.

Anyway, no press is bad press! Enjoy!

I found my chip! 😇 😆

Okay gotta move along with the step 5 😉 along the "MDawg's formula for a good Vegas trip" list (2-3X daily, only an old man could handle it that many times a day, you quite understand), and then downstairs again to the lion's den.

Day 14 play

Gotta get centered better because I've been playing catch up past few sessions, with today no exception.

I don't believe I was ahead much if anything at any point today after the first shoe. That first shoe I actually did okay but I wasn't betting right - I was flat betting the runs and streaks instead of progressing, but they weren't arriving so very predictably, so I didn't feel confident pressing.

At some point in the second shoe I lost the chips from the 8K marker, and I did some call bets until I lost a - Believe it was a 1500 one similar to the other day - and had them print it to twenty. It was up and down until I had only 9K left from that marker which meant down -19K, and I put all of it on Player, and drew a zero with Bank four. Any face/ten at that point and I would have been dead but luckily I drew at least a two sided five. At this point I was calling for a "monkey" as they say for the Bank, and boom! dealer drew a four sided nine reduced the Bank to 3 and I won! That was a good hand. You remember hands like that, nine grand on the line, six cards drawn, 5/3 win.

From that point on I kept getting stuck with between fourteen and twenty one thousand in front of me, with 28K being the goal to even.

A few players with varying success came to my table during the course of the two shoes. The first bought in for ten K cash, and at one point was actually ahead +4K (was a pretty big player would bet anywhere from 1000 - 6000 a hand) but ended up losing that 10K, buying in for another ten and losing it all. He was a known player and I asked the pit boss about that player and pit boss pretty much let on that there wasn't much winning going on with that one. I mean - ahead 4K with ten K buy in, and don't walk? How much do you want? A second player arrived with 5K who was some kind of Martingale player with 100 units. All that was remarkable about this player was that remarked that never won a hand betting against me, but that player actually managed to win 1000 eventually and left. So that was one winner I saw today.

A third player bought in for 2500 (or maybe it was 5000, I took a bathroom break while they were counting it), and during that player's play I bet as much as 6000 on Player and won (mostly a catch up bet) but whatever that player was doing didn't work and that one left after losing it all.

On the fourth shoe I got side by side Player runs and the only thing that prevented me from really slamming them was that I'd get a tie somewhere on the run and this would unnerve me to lowering the pressing bet (often I will ignore an intervening tie on a run, or even press after it, but for some reason today I did lower my bet after a tie during a run), but in any case by the first quarter of the fifth shoe I was dead even and quit. I free handed the next hand - would have lost (another Player run shoe).

What's "funny" is that the best shoe I got the dealer cut before I had a chance to cut it. That fourth shoe was the best shoe of the day. During it a couple pit bosses I had never seen before seemed to be standing around with worried looks on their faces as I won hand after hand. The dealers today for the most part were "seen it all types" and not so into the game. I actually tipped out more than I won, because I just walked with a few small denomination chips and dealers must have won 500 during the earlier parts of the session when I was putting side bets for them while I was actually getting somewhere.

I played long enough and through shift change such that my markers had been transferred, so I look the 28K in chips right to the cage to get my markers back.

Anyway, earned comps galore today but no money. Dealers won more than I did. But sometimes, a push is a win.

Went for a sumptuous meal and relaxed with her in the suite was feeling that bit tired it having been an evening of some small energy expenditure. Fell asleep relatively early. Going to get back to sleep now and later hit the gym, eat, ETC. and another session. They might eventually get me at this rate I need to get back to winning early and quitting versus all this catch up.

Each session report is precisely what happened. It's not always straight up and it's not always taking a big stack of winning chips upstairs. Which is part of why I don't want any of my friends playing with me at the tables. I have enough on my mind when I slam nine grand on a hand without having to think about someone else's bankroll. I have described these last few sessions to them because they all tend to think it's all fun and games since they know what I have taken home from these trips.

And it's not just about the dollar amount of the larger bets - it's also about the fact that the table limit starts coming into play at those levels as far as catch up. Anyone watching me would know that I don't do any kind of martingale whatsoever, but I do vary my bet considerably, which I have found is the only way to win over time at any table game.

What is the table limit you have been playing at most recently? My (VERY LIMITED) experience (at Pai Gow table) was that when a player was losing and asked to raise the table limit the request was never denied. ($3000 went to $5000 and guy was also allowed to play two hands at that new level.)

I think it's $15K, but could be $20K, $25K, or even $30K.
If I was betting $2K, and using a 9 in a row progression, I'd be betting $20K from the 9th bet on.
If I got to 14 wins in a row, I'd win $150K.

Baccarat:
If you have a multi million dollar credit line, you may bet up to 250K a hand at Baccarat at some of the top casinos in Vegas, although typically they cap it around 160K per hand. Merely "asking" for the limit to be raised is not good enough - you must have some kind of substantial credit line or cash on deposit to back up that request, and as far as raising the limit, a credit line goes further than mere cash.

Although, back in the day I didn't have any credit line higher than $50K, and most of my lines back then were $20-25K, and yet I was allowed to bet 10K a hand at Baccarat at a casino in Vegas where the limit was 5K, so I suppose it may depend on your player history to a small extent, but in that instance I told them I wouldn't even bother playing there if they didn't let me go to at least 10K, and they accommodated me.

My newfound friend I met last trip is allowed to bet up to 40K per hand at Baccarat at a casino where the standard limit is 20K, due to his high credit line (or it might be cash on deposit - I didn't pry). Special limits players like that are allowed to reserve a table just for themselves, where a dealer is on call 7/24. Last trip my friend let the casino know I was allowed to play at his reserved table alone even when he wasn't there, which was nice, because I prefer playing alone.

20K is the current standard limit on the Strip for Baccarat, although one Strip casino I know of has retained the 15K limit which dates from the very early 2000s (15K was the standard limit back then). There are off Strip properties where the limit is 10K. There is one casino on the Strip that allows anyone to go to 35K. The minimum is $100. at these tables, although occasionally the minimum will be higher.

Blackjack:
Maybe someone who plays more BlackJack may comment on the BJack limits in Vegas these days? Back then, I played and bet all the way to 10K at BlackJack sometimes, so I know there were 10K limit BlackJack tables sprinkled around Vegas and even in Tahoe many years ago. I haven't paid a lot of attention to the BlackJack limits these days but I have noticed a lot of 10K limit tables. Do they go higher these days?

I'm gonna have to assume if table limits weren't so high, you'd need 20X your max bet on deposit or as a LOC.
For $5K, that'd be $100K
For $10K, that'd be $200K
For $15K, that'd be $300K
For $20K, that'd be $400K
For $40K, that'd be $800K
For $100K, that'd be $2M
For $160K, that'd be $3.2M
For $250K, that'd be $5M

For $20K, that'd be $400K
For $40K, that'd be $800K
For $100K, that'd be $2M
For $160K, that'd be $3.2M
For $250K, that'd be $5M

That's probably about right, if not spot on. I could find out for sure, but I believe those are the correct numbers for credit line players.

However they couldn't be right for cash players as I know a player who brought five million cash to one of the majors on the Strip in the very early 2000s (when the regular Baccarat limit was 15K), and all they let that player go was 50K. It could have had to do with that they didn't believe the player could come up with more for future trips, or maybe that's just the way it is. That player actually managed to lose it all in far less hands than should have been statistically possible, and - shouldn't have been playing at that level in the first place - because I knew this person somewhat well and that Five million represented most of what the player had. In life.

Day 15 play

Already done. Played, maybe 3/4 of one shoe. Dealer cut (the shoe was ready to go when I arrived) - it was beautiful. I took a picture of the shoe so I am looking at it as I write this. First, five Players right out the gate. Free handed the first, won 4/5 of the next pressing all the way. Then, with a single exception, pure chop for ELEVEN hands, I got nearly every one. Two banks, missed one, got one, then chop AGAIN for seven hands, got 'em all. Then I missed the next hand, and then after two players I got on an eight player run. Chopped four hands, I got 3/4, then Player dropped four hands, I got only a couple of those, then one bank and another eight player run. Bank pretty much went only ONE most of the shoe which is why it was so easy to bet Player right afterwards. I got another five Player run, then the shoe started to get a tad less predictable, so I just stopped.

I was at a double up anyway, +8210 plus with all the dealer side bets I kept laying as I kept winning hand after hand, I noticed about seven hunny all stacked up in red, green and black chips for the dealer by the toke box.

The pit boss kept shaking my hand. I mean, full on regular handshake. I kept thinking, Okay - isn't this the era of covid? but I shook it firmly and Old School anyway, just seemed like the thing to do. But as soon as I left the pit I hit the hand sanitizer.

That's it for today.

Up in the suite my wife was saying that on days like this I could really win big, and that eight thousand was nothing. She pointed out that when you're running like this if you could just program yourself to not think about the denominations you could win 5X as much easily. She's right of course, but, as she also pointed out, "You're doing this because you're good at it, not because we need it."

This puts me at over +74K now for this trip, which is the same as what I took home last trip. But that was after six weeks or so, this is after not even three. Can MDawg keep it up? Yes, let's hope!

Spent a little time downtown (no we didn't walk all the way there). Did walk a little off the beaten path though, wandering in and out of divey casinos.

Main Street Station is closed, so don't bother looking for me there.  😆

Please visit us "at the Cal?" - so this "Station" is owned by Boyd then, not Station Casinos.

Binion's cool classic Cadillac stretch. (Did Elvis ever ride in it?)

I've stayed in the "Elvis Suite" (so named because Elvis stayed in it) at the old Horizon in Tahoe.

Not everyone wearing masks...people sure do get all happy over a stranger's taking their pic.

What movie was filmed at The Plaza where someone is thrown out the window? Was that at The Plaza?

So now I may say, a la DarkOz, that I make 37,000 a week in casinos.  😛

I'm honored that MDawg is so envious of me.

I'm the only poster here who MDawg keeps track of his stock picks and who always tries to best in casino results.

My claim to making $20,000 a week is based on the number of cards I have in circulation on average, the offers they get, and the expected return, which for the most part is pretty close on a weekly basis to expectations at that level.

Of course, operations get shut down or I move on to a different market (for various reasons I won't go into it's sometimes best to move on) so can't say I make $20,000 every week of the year.

Having one lucky streak win doesn't qualify in my book for your claim, MDawg, but nice envious try!

Terapined apparently has not noticed absolutely nobody says, hey, I'm going to buy some kind of a motor home and travel around the country and live in trailer parks and people are going to look up to me and respect me for it. Because for every person that does it on purpose, there's half a dozen who have no other choice. For many people it's one rung up the ladder from homelessness and everybody knows it.

If I go to a big Casino buffet now, I never eat the cooked food. Buffets overcook the food, especially the meat, to protect themselves from liability from food poisoning.

If that is so, why are there people lined up at casino buffets to have their prime rib grilled more? I tend to see the prime rib at the buffet carving table as rare versus anywhere near well done.

If no skill is involved, why do the same people win the big tournaments.

That’s somewhat true. I haven’t won a Baccarat tournament yet. I have entered only a few actually, as I don’t plan my Vegas trips around tournaments, but I’ve made it to the final table each time.

I did run into someone recently who the dealers said has won close to a million in a few casino tournaments. This individual played Baccarat all the time, nothing but Baccarat, however I don't know what tournaments were played and won, i.e. I don't know if the million came from Bacc. tournaments.

Compare:
“Why do you think the same five guys make it to the final table at the World Series of Poker every single year?” (Matt Damon, Rounders)
But…that isn’t true any longer is it? Maybe was in 1998, not at all anymore. Some new upstart kid seems to win every year now. Maybe the style of tournament poker has changed to favor taking greater chances....

This is an interesting post.

Scroll down to the comment by Doug Carlson.
This caught my eye because I know for a fact
it's true:

"But I still believe there are other ways to win at this game - I believe that are some very smart Asians who can sit down and play a shoe from one end to the other and win more than they lose - but I think those kind of people are few and far between - they don’t grow on trees."

MDawg’s definitely don’t grow on trees.

This thread is definitely great reading and there's great change from so much other stuff that is absolutely meaningless and filled with drama and has one purpose and we all know what that is, while really describing next to nothing except a grab at attention. Yes some of you will say this thread has all of that but it does in a factual and most explicit way and the people poking at it, IMO is a clear indication of their jealousy or resentment for one reason or another towards the OP.

Once again I am involved full time in the casino industry. I find this thread terrific and amazing from many points and I love to read it almost everyday. The pictures are real and the documents are real as well, there is not one indication or clue that they are not.

Keep up the great work and I do appreciate your time and trouble in posting, if it means anything MDawg and I'm sure lots of other people do they're just too scared to admit it!

Thank you again to an amazing individual and thank God they do not grow on trees!!

Debatable. Would it be better for there to be a separate thread for each trip, or session?

Perhaps, but ultimately, MDawg doesn't control whether or not anyone not named, "MDawg," posts in this thread.

There's a never-ending horse thread that pops up from time to time. I doubt I've read much of it because I don't bet on horses.

I just figured he was the President of the MDawg Fan Cub. I'm not sure that the paying of overly-flowery compliments can be considered, "Antagonistic." Who do you purport that said post is antagonizing?

*I guess they could be if they were meant sarcastically. That would basically require an admission, though.

"I just figured he was the President of the MDawg Fan Cub". (Club) That outright statement is, IMO 100% antagonistic.

The president of the fan club displays plenty of sarcasm in an attempt for provocations from others. Let's put the reality into all of this. The MDawg thread helps everyone, it is great advertising for casinos' businesses. And it is great for advantage players. Because most all of those who believe all of this nonsense and put their money where their mouth is and gambles in the same type of fashion are going to learn the hard way. Subsequently, AP's need plenty of losers to make things run smoother.
