I had this long post typed then decided no one would want to read the details. Basically we go to AC every year for 4 days with 2 kids. Our max budget is 1k including gambling. Previously we had no problems with comps and atlantic club or showboat. We were going to stay at taj but with their problems we are leary about staying there.

We want to be on the board walK so I guess our only options are Ballys, resorts, or taj. Where do I have the best chance of getting free nights?

We have 170k RC's because of trlhe race to rewards that we have been milking for 3 years. We use them for all of our food. I thought about staying at ballys but we only get 1 night so I would end up using 30k RCs if we did that, but then playing at taj or resorts in hopes for some bounce back nights.
Thoughts?

It takes very little play at Taj and Resorts to get free rooms. If you play any machines at all, forget CET properties. It's comical how bad they set them. At least at both Resorts and Taj their slots with progressive meters actually do progress! (Count me as one of the of the guys blowing a kazoo for Caesars bankruptcy). I'd say you can't go wrong with either, but the taj has dyson air blade dryers and resorts has paper towels in their bathrooms if that what your decision boils down to :) Have a good trip
$1700, 18, 19, 1920, 40, 60,... :/ Thx 'Do it again'. I'll try

In your situation, I would pick Resorts. The Taj is hanging on by a thread. There is nothing saying it won't close soon. Unfortunately Bally's may be on the chopping block as well. Not to mention Caesars Ent. is contracting in size and that will but upwards pressure on both room availability and comping/prices.
Resorts Ocean Tower rooms were recently renovated. The Rendezvous Tower is maybe 12 years old and has some of the largest standard rooms in A.C.
Resorts may not get a lot of press on the boards, but unless one is a room snob the place is decent and usually one of the most affordable on the boardwalk.

Trump as an organization has always been more than generous with room offers, just starting my relationship with Taj. One nice thing about Trump is that their version of express comps / reward credits is actually kind of reasonable. With a little luck your family could have a fast food meal on them ($25-30) at the end of your trip strictly off of automatic comps.

No information on Resorts.

Given my limited experience, my recommendation is Taj.

I'd say avoid the Taj because it is like a graveyard in there.

Maybe consider the Tropicana on the other end of the boardwalk, or failing that, take the family to the newly opened Revel Water Park And Genius Academy.

Haha I would love to go to a water park on AC.
Thanks all for the reccomendations. I thought about Tropicana as well but since we are using our RCs for food it is a little out of the way. I don't mind the walk but doing it with 2 little ones is not the funnest of ideas.

Basically our play is 1 or 2 sessions of blackjack, some VP, and some slots. Last year I won $500 on VP on the first night so we had some extra play through but that was at showboat. That extra play got me exactly nothing from CET.

Tropicana is nice however, weekends the clubs are full of drunken 20 somethings. Worth a visit perhaps see the quarter and maybe I-max theater will have a show for the little ones?
There also is a small aquarium in A.C. with a touch tank for the kids.

It depends on what you're looking for. I've be a loyal Taj'er for years but I need weekend rooms so I tried Resorts this last trip in case Taj threatens to close again, at least I have a back up. Taj is VERY generous with rooms and comps. Never had to pay for a meal and usually get at least 25-50 comps per trip. I'm not a ultra low roller but I'm not a big roller either. I get rooms 24/7 even throughout the summer.

I stayed at Resorts last week and the comps were very slow to rack up, I'd say almost half of what I get at the Taj. If you're looking for short term, comps for your present trip, I'd pick the Taj. You'll be surprised at the offers you will get from your play. It is like a ghost town but if what your looking for is the biggest bank for your gambling buck, I'd try the Taj, rooms are nice, good restaurants and now everything 1:1 on comps. I've seen many families staying at the Taj . They also have an indoor pool though I've never used it, I see many families coming in and out o the elevator with swimwear on.

Have you checked Hotwire?

Reason being, on that bankroll, over 4 days, unless you get on a rare sustained hot streak , the potential future comps may be negligible compared to what you lay out upfront for your room costs. This upfront savings is guaranteed & not dependent on how long you can survive playing.

You may, or may not -be able to figure out which casino you're getting up front - but the guaranteed upfront savings in hand could go towards your bankroll & use all comps for food.

note -Hotwire lets you specify 4 people in 1 room (if thats what you plan) , Priceline express deals (&bidding)does not .

It sounds like you may be giving the potential future comps too much consideration over a small sample size...The expected ADT on <1k bankroll (AFTER room costs), divided by 4 days, is not something that would move the needle at any AC casino.

I would prefer not to spend any money on hotels since the bankroll is so low. The taj postcard that I received this week gives me 2 days during the week for free and if I stay at ballys then I have plenty of RCs to pay for the room. We always go during the week so any free days are fine, they don't have to be weekends.

Right now we are thinking about staying at ballys but it makes no sense for me to spend 1 cent in their casino since my play wouldn't be noticed.

Well for as fuc**d up as the Taj has been the last few years, and yes it's a ghost town, they give the best bang for the buck comp wise. In my mind the fact that it's a ghost town is good. I get more for my play, all the restaurants and shops comp 1:1 now, no problem finding a seat at the tables. I could care less if the place is happening or not. That's not why I'm there. So if getting the most bang for you buck is the goal, stay at the Taj. You can always walk down to Bally's/Caesars to use your RC's. It's still a nice walk.
