So, both the six and eight have five ways to roll and the seven has six ways. So, the odds of rolling a 6 or 8 prior to a seven 10/6. I get that. However, I don't know how to figure the odds of rolling six sevens prior to rolling either a six or eight. TIA

Are you talking about in a row or through however many rolls it takes for that sequence? The former is just (6/36)^6 * (10/36) = 0.0595%. I don't have the math to do the latter, but I imagine it would be a much higher percentage.

Edited for my math (used 10/6 instead of 10/36 originally).

Thanks for your response. I am talking about progression on 6 and 8 up to six times and the odds of hitting either a 6 or 8 one time prior to getting sevened out six times.

If my math is correct (very rusty), and taking into account 6 and 8 can be thrown 10 times compared to six ways for seven. So, the odds of hitting 6/8 prior to seven is 10/6 or odds in my favor of 1.67 rounded. So, answer would be (1.67) to the sixth power or roughtly 21.69 to 1 in my favor. Close to correct?

I don't think so but I'm not going to be able to figure the math out on that one because of the non-decision rolls. If we were talking about EXACTLY six 6 or 8 rolls prior to a 7 it would be my above formula with the 6/36 and 10/36 reversed.

Don't care about the non-decision rolls. I care about one thing: Getting my six or eight hit prior to seven out.

I.E. - Starting with 6 and 8 at $6 each. Seven out and you are down $12. Then placing $12 on each. Hit one 6 or 8 and you are up an then back to $6 on 6 and 8. Trying to keep exposure low while remaining on 6 and 8 on each roll. Progressing up six levels until stopping. This type of play would be a grind and, hopefully, a comps builder for later trips.

using the Craps principle here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craps_principle

chances of hitting ONE 6 or 8 before a 7 is (10/36)/((10/36)+(6/36)) or (simplified) 10/16 or .625. Two would be .625^2 or .3906 and so on. You can make a nice chart if you have excel or any spreadsheet.

ONE 7 before a 6 or 8 would be (6/36)/((10/36)+(6/36)) or (simplified) 6/16 or .375. Two would be .375^2 or .1406 and so on.

Good luck with your progression. Hope you run a few computer simulations first to see your win/lose percentages.

I don't know the math, but I think this will be be a tough play as a "comps builder"...unless someone is really hawking the table, your first two bets are >$25 total and your third (assuming no losses) would be $36 or $48 depending on how aggressively you press. My experience with being rated in craps is very spotty to start with because of the variety of bets and I feel as if I don't get a full rating when I start low and move up based on how things turn out.

I wouldn't change my betting pattern just for comps but I do have to make sure they notice when I have a larger amount in play. Three out of four casinos rated me much lower than my average should have been; one got it pretty close to correct.
