On your basic strategy card for blackjack (multideck, dealer stands on soft 17), I noticed that you recommend doubling down with 11 no matter what the dealer has, even if it's an ace. Most strategy cards say to hit if the dealer shows an ace to my 11. And in your appendix, it shows that there is greater probability of winning with a hit rather than a double down. Also, in your shortened strategy card you say to double down only if your total is higher than the dealers. So, should I double down with 11 against an ace? Thank you, Josh

I think this is actually a mistake.

Which one's the mistake, hitting on the ace or doubling down? I've seen strategy cards with each option.

Across all the rules that the card covers, hitting is worth ~.147, doubling is worth ~.127, so doubling is a mistake costing you about 16% (source numbers).

It must be an error with the new cards, because the 4+ deck S17 card that was up a few months ago said hit on 11 vs. A. Everything else looks the same.

Yeah, I think it must be a mistake. It's just that I have seen other cards that say to double down with 11 against an ace as well like the one on Amazon.com. But the majority of cards say to hit, so that's what I'll do. I'm going to Vegas on Feb. 5. I'm using a partial Martingale system where if I lose the first bet I double my stake, and if I lose the second, I double it again. After 3 consecutive losses or a win, I go back to my original bet. It's worked on my last two trips and I'll let ya'll know if it works again. Thanks for the reply.

It does seem strange. It must be a mistake. Normally you only choose to double a hard 11 against a dealer Ace in the following two situations.
(1) single deck
(2) if the count is +2 or higher

Up until now, I couldn't understand this discussion.

Like the American Express Card ads, I don't leave home without both S17 and H17 (4-8 Decks) Basic Strategy Cards that I had previously printed from the WOO Site. My S17 card clearly says H (Hit in red) with an 11 vs. an Ace and my H17 card says Dh (Double if allowed; if not, Hit...in blue).

But I figured something was up given the quality of the respondents...

So, I checked the WOO site again and lo and behold, the 4-8 Deck S17 Card says Dh!

I do wear reading glasses but I'm not color blind.

This is very curious indeed..

I've been trying to attach the .gif file that I have of the H17 (4-8 Deck) Basic Strategy Card showing the H on 11 v. Ace but I have been failing miserably.

I've been going through the formatting codes but to no avail...

Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. Quick question: what do you mean by always DD if the TC is +1?

That system seems to work for a short time. I use it but do not go back to the original bet on win, just down one sequence. My goal is to quite when up 5x my original bet or down 10x my original bet. I very seldom not make my goal. If you stay longer, you will loose. once you get your goal, go to another table or casino and start again.
