Great website, I feel this is definitely where I can get an expert's opinion :)

On an american roulette table, there are bets that seem possible to me but I cannot find a clear explanation about them online.

I was wondering if the following bets are all possible and/or optional and/or illegal :

(I mean inside an actual casino, not in video games)

5 numbers :
- 0, 00, 1, 2 ,3

3 numbers:
- 0, 1, 2
- 0, 00, 2
- 0, 2, 3

2 numbers:
- 0, 1
- 0, 2
- 00, 2
- 00, 3
- 00, 0

Insight would be appreciated for these specific cases !

Hi yessirsir, and welcome to the forums.

Just google a standard roulette layout.

Any 2 numbers next to each other you should be able to bet the "line bet" between them, which pays 17-1.

Your 0, 1, 2 is legal, and I believe called a "hat" bet when placing a chip at the intersection of the 3 (someone correct me if I'm wrong with my terminology). Perhaps the "hat" bet is the 0, 00, 2 as that's in the center. Even so, that should be possible as well as 00, 2, 3 (but not 0, 2, 3).

I don't think the 0, 2, or 00 ,2 are legal bets. but I'm not 100% sure.

You can of course bet just these numbers straight up if you'd like, but it sounds like in your OP you want 1 bet that covers all the numbers listed. Is that right?

Mind if I ask why you're pursuant of these bets? Trust me, if it's a legal bet, you will not have an edge =).
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Thanks for helping me out. I am not asking so that I can go play at the casino. Even though I made it sound as such.

I am trying to design my own casino game and make it as realistic as possible (just as it is in a real casino).

These specific bets are unclear to me, so I appreciate your response.

Did the search, as you recommended but, there seem to be a lot a variations or contradictions with these layouts.

Or more like, incomplete ones.

I think you can understand my confusion when we see/read "Any 2 numbers next to each other you should be able to bet".

It made me think that betting on the 0, 2, or 00 ,2 were legal since they are next to each others. (kinda)

But those I mentioned are never specified exactly (maybe except the 5 numbers bet)

Well, still looking into it :)

The 5 number bet gets a special mention (as well as a name, "Basket bet") for a very reasonable reason: it is the only 5 number combination available and has a different payout (and higher house edge) than any other bet.

Unless I'm mistaken, you CAN make all those oddball bets you mention. It's just rather rare for anyone to do so.

On the other hand, there simply isn't enough room on the layout to place all those splits and tri-corner bets without the chips getting jammed up. So maybe you can't.

You may make all the bets you mentioned except 0,2,3 (you may however bet 00,2,3). The 5 number bet is indeed the only bet on the table with worse odds than any other bet, so it is known as the Sucker Bet. I believe the basket is 0,00,2.

Fun fact: the way to get the highest single payout on an American roulette table, betting only the inside, betting no more than one chip high, is to make every bet that includes 2 (14 bets). If 2 hits, the payout is 191. In order to bet this way, your chips will be overlapping, something several dealers have incorrectly told me is not allowed.

If you’ve bet heavily in this region of the table, assume the dealers who don’t love math are praying for you to lose, and then be prepared to figure out your own payout.
