Petra Ecclestone, age 22, pictured with her parents (her father is in his 80's), just bought a second home in the USA. The home in London she bought for almost $100 million only 6 months ago. For her USA home she decided to upsize a little, and bought the most expensive home ever sold in USA history. The Spelling mansion was listed for $150 million for several years. It is not known what she paid for the 55K square footage house, but it was undoubtedly higher than the recent record of $100million for a home built in America.

Her father is rumored to be in financial trouble.

The father looks awfully tall, is he wearing lifts? Seriously, why does anybody need a house that large? I knew a guy in the 90's who had a huge collection of antiques in his 12,000 sq ft home. It was like a museum. He had things roped off and in showcases. His living quarters were off the kitchen in a 10' by 10' room, that had a recliner and TV set. He'd eat dinner in the recliner and then recline it back and sleep there all night. Its like a movie that Cary Grant made, where he and his family lived in a giant English castle, but only used a few rooms in the back to actually live in. Huge residences baffle me, whats the point.

The real extravagance for these men seems to be their wives. Peter Ecclestone is now age 80, and his divorce cost him over a billion dollars. Steve Wynn lost a billion to his wife in the divorce, but they met in high school and were married twice. They truly qualify as life partners.

But, yes if you are age 22 and you own two homes in the $100 million dollar range, one of which has over an acre of square footage, what do you purchase at age 50? Most 22 year olds, especially the ultra rich aspire to something a little more mobile.

Slavica Ecclestone is the richest millionaire as the result of divorce
By David Harrison10:15PM BST 24 Apr 2010Comment
The former model, who was born in what is now Croatia and at 6ft 2in tall is nearly a foot taller than her former husband, became one of Britain's wealthiest women after her divorce last year. Her nearest challenger in the divorce wealth stakes is Irina Abramovich, ex-wife of Roman Abramovich, the Russian tycoon and owner of Chelsea FC, who is worth £135 after receiving a £155m settlement in 2007. One man makes the top nine millionaires from divorce: Guy Ritchie, 41, the film director now worth £55m after his divorce from Madonna in 2008. Ritchie, who was given the couple's London pub and their estate in Wiltshire as part of the settlement, directed films including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Sherlock Holmes.

The richest millionaires from divorce are:
1. Slavica Ecclestone £734m
2. Irina Abramovich £135m
3. Pamela Morgan Bell £80m
4. Guy Ritchie £55m
5. Linda Ashley £50m
6. Beverley Charman £48m
7. Sally Croker-Poole £40m
8, Alisa Marks £35m
9. Lady Sandra Sorrell £32m

Speaking of Cary Grant, Sweden is selling a 42' motorboat that sleeps four, is capable of going from Miami to Nassau in as little as 4 hours, and looks like a boat from the era of Cary Grant. In the price range of $1 million it is for the multi millionaire who likes looking good.

Thanks for reminding me, I feel like watching that movie again.

I have it on DVD and watch it once a year, I have most of Cary Grant's better movies. I bet I've seen North by Northwest 15 times.

She just got engaged to a guy she's been living with for several years, James Stunt. He drives a Lamborghini, and Princess Beatrice popped in for the engagement party.

I was about to ask, "Who?...."

OK. I just did some research.

I still don't know who she is, how she got her money, or why she's getting media attention, or why anyone cares.

For what it's worth, I don't care to get an answer.

Anderson Cooper put her on his ridiculist. Why does a 22 year old need a 56000 square foot second home?

She certainly bought herself a reality TV show.

The real extravagance for these men seems to be their wives.

The high-maintenance Trophy Wife is a status symbol. Men display the youth and beauty of a trophy wife, the imagined bill for her facelifts and boob jobs are trophies. Even the bill for her divorce lawyers is considered a trophy to display along with his skin scrub, darkened hair and face lift. All trophies on display to those who seem to value such things.

> the richest millionaire as the result of divorce
Marriage may or may not be a good thing for young girls to aspire to but mothers should always imbue in their daughters a pragmatic realization that marriage is a necessary step to take in order to have a successful divorce.

What about a 400 km/hr yacht for that trip? Bentely yachts.

It happened again!

Ekaterina Rybolovleva, the 22-year-old daughter of Russian billionaire Dmitriy Rybolovlev, is buying the condominium. Rybolovleva is currently studying at an undisclosed U.S. university and plans to stay in the apartment when visiting New York. According to a source familiar with the sale, she paid the full asking price of $88 million, setting a record for highest individual transaction in New York City history.

And instead of letting the spoiled daughters of billionaires have all the fun with the $80+ million dollar houses, an honorable mention goes to David Dopp, the Utah truck driver who won a lime-green, 631-hp Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640 worht minimum of $200K, and rolled it into a field only a few hours later!

The car can go 0-60mph in just 3 seconds but David swears he wasn't going faster than 60 mph when he spun out of control. In case you are interested, 0-60 in 3 seconds is slightly higher than the acceleration that you experience when you skydive from a normal altitude.

Elin Nordegren bought a $12 million home in North Palm Beach, Fla., but didn't like it, and has plowed the whole thing. The house, which had six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, is now just rubble.

Built 1932
Sold: February 10 2011 for $12,250,000

12520 Seminole Beach Rd
North Palm Beach, FL 33408

Insane! For some reason large houses (and cars for that matter) give me an unsettling feeling and are very uncomfortable. This is especially the case with multi-floor houses where in one section of the house you can see from the first floor to the top floor ceiling. I guess I was meant to be poor.

I'm sure that she felt the same thing. The 9000 square ft, 6 bedrooms, and 8 baths are too unsettling. She is going to put up a little 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath ranch house in it's place.

Her next door neighbor did the same thing. Bought the house in February 2003 for $10.5M and tore it down and built a 7 bedroom, 13 bath home with 17,704 square feet. They paid $305,216 last year in property taxes.

Her other next door neighbor also tore down the house and built a bigger one.

Probably not as high on the new houses. I am still trying to figure out if there is some way to control heating costs on this 1929 house (oil heat) with 20 radiators.
