Welcome back!!!! Great to see you again. I look forward to your thoughts and scores on Wordle!
I made that look difficult. Though I started with a different word to see how WordleBot would analyze. Not certain if it made a difference in either case.
Here we go with WordleBot:
First Guess: Solid choice. On average, someone who guesses ***** will cut the number of possible solutions to 141. Unfortunately for you, this time 354 solutions remained. (This is the unluckiest possible outcome for this starting word.)
Second guess: Your guess cut the number of remaining solutions to 41. This is pretty good, but guessing *****, here eliminates more than ***** 67 percent of the time.
Third guess: Wonderful choice. Your guess cut the number of remaining solutions from 41 to three.
Fourth guess: *****? Impressive vocabulary! Unfortunately, this was a wasted guess -- it didn't add anything to what we already knew.
Fifth guess: Your guess did eliminate one word, but there were some better options. Guessing ***** for example, would have guaranteed eliminating every possible solution but one. From this point you need some luck to solve the puzzle in six guesses.
Sixth guess: At this point the solution could have been one of two words. ***** or *****. With only one guess left...you guessed correctly. A little lucky, but good for you.

I would have been surprised if the NYT chose "squaw," but it took at least five minutes to think of anything for turn 4 and that's what I eventually came up with, so went with it.
First time I've seen a Q used, I think.
ROATE: This is a great opening word. On average, someone who guesses roate
will cut the number of possible solutions to just 60. Unfortunately for you, this time 111 solutions remained. SKILL 96, LUCK 11
SLIMY: Wonderful choice. Your guess cut the number of remaining solutions from 111 to three. SKILL 86, LUCK 68
SCUBA: Well done! This is exactly what I would’ve guessed in this situation. And you’ve narrowed it down to one possible solution. You should solve the puzzle on your next turn. SKILL 99, LUCK 33
SQUAD: There was only one possible solution left — and you got it! Well done. SKILL 99

I had WordleBot's review my play after I was finished. Here are its comments:
SALET is one of my favorite opening words. On average, someone who guesses SALET will cut the 2,309 possible Wordle solutions to just 71. (SKILL 99, LUCK 43)
CORNI Impressive vocabulary! And, well done! This is exactly what I would’ve guessed in this situation. And you’ve narrowed it down to one possible solution. You should solve the puzzle on your next turn. (SKILL 99, LUCK 87)
ROYAL There was only one possible solution left — and you got it! Well done. (SKILL 99)
Another example of two probing words (technically not a guess, since neither word could be the solution) = 3rd row solution

Me as well. Except when it calls one of my word choices stupid! Of course, it uses much more polite wording: "Your guess was..., but it would have been even better to guess..." but I know when I'm being insulted! ;) )Quote: IndyJeffreyQuote: EdCollinsPuzzle #297 for Tuesday, 4/12/22, with analysis from WordleBot.

My Row 2 pattern was identical to your Row 1, 2, and 3 pattern. However, once I figured out how many different words were still possible that matched that GbGbG pattern, rather than simply start guessing, I chose instead to use a probing word in Row 3, and was able to solve it on Row 4.
If I just started guessing, I was worried I might not solve it until Row 5 or 6, something I wanted to avoid.

***: I would assume using a probing word would be better to "nearly guarantee a solve within the 6 guesses ", but I don't know which strategy would get the better "average number of guesses per attempt/solve"?

My reply, which contains a possible spoiler:
In fact, I see WordleBot using them all the time. Most of the time, in fact, it seems to use a probing word on the second guess!
For example, in Puzzle #300 on my second guess, I played a possible answer, SPARE. Whoops. Despite already knowing three of the letters, one of them in the exact position, and despite WordleBot knowing there were just 21 possible answer left, WordleBot says CHIRP, which doesn't use ANY of the known letters, is the absolute best play and deserves a Skill Rating of 99 if used.
WordleBot's suggested THIRD play is ALSO a probing word. At this point there were just six possible answers left, yet WordleBot liked HIKED best, which wasn't a possible solution at all. This play would reduce the average number of solutions left to just 1.3.
While reviewing his play on a lot of my other past games, it's the same thing; WordleBot often plays a completely new word, a probing word which can't possible be correct, once or twice a game.
Only after it narrows down the potential solutions to just a few, does WordleBot then go after a solution and select a possible word.
Does anyone second the motion?

Yeah, I was absolutely certain with each guess. Wordlebot says to use probing words, but I like trying for the quick hit. And I never know my starting word until I start typing.
